“Have you been nice?”- CHECK!
\n“Have you been kind?” – CHECK!
\n“Have you did as you were asked?” – CHECK!<\/p>\n
‘Ok,That’s the tick list sorted!’ thought the young boy as he stood there in the long queue waiting to see Santa Clause.<\/p>\n
He had been eagerly looking forward to this for over a week.<\/p>\n
He’d kept his room tidy. He had put out the bins,\u00a0AND brought them back in, which counted for double points surely? He had even did the dishes, well helped put them away,so that\u00a0at least should count for something.<\/p>\n
All of these chores\u00a0were just on top of his usual “nice wee self” as his mother would put it.<\/p>\n
All this effort, just to help get him over the line when it came to avoiding that scary Naughty List and getting onto that\u00a0vital Nice list.<\/p>\n
The queue was long but it was\u00a0shuffling forward every now and again. While\u00a0the boy\u00a0was keen to see Santa, he wasnt rude or irritated and\u00a0he waited patiently knowing his time would come. The boy edged forward and could see the man in the red suit and long white beard up ahead and smiled knowing it wouldn’t be long before it would be his turn<\/p>\n
Sure enough, before long he was close enough to see the stage in full.<\/p>\n
The Kids were being\u00a0greeted at a small entrance gate by a tall slim girl dressed in an Elf costume of bright green and red. The Elf opened the gate, and then led the children up to see Santa. Santa sat on a large golden chair\u00a0 and by his side was his big red sack, which was\u00a0full of packages. After the kids saw Santa, he would give them a gift from the sack and then the Elf would lead them off again towards another small gate over on the right hand side of the stage.<\/p>\n
The boy continued to shuffle forward and within a few minutes, the Elf was\u00a0turning to him and saying “Okay, up you come”.<\/p>\n
The Elf opened the gate and with a wave of her hand, she\u00a0gestured the boy to walk on.<\/p>\n
The boy stepped forward\u00a0 and took the few steps up towards Santa.<\/p>\n
“Hello young Man” said Santa.<\/p>\n
“Hello Santa” replied the boy.<\/p>\n
“And how are you today?” asked the man in the beard.<\/p>\n
“Im fine, and you?” politely replied and asked the boy in return.<\/p>\n
“Im great, thanks for asking”, said Santa.<\/p>\n
Santa then leaned forward and said “So what’s your name and what is it you’re wanting for Xmas then?”<\/p>\n
The boy paused. He looked back over his shoulder at the crowd, then to the side at the smiling Elf and then back at Santa.<\/p>\n
“Well?” asked Santa.<\/p>\n
The boy hesitated for a slight second and then leaned forward and whispered into Santa’s ear.<\/p>\n
Santa pulled his head back before asking “Oh Is THAT all?”<\/p>\n
To Santa’s surprise, the boy then leaned forward\u00a0\u00a0and spoke once again quietly into his ear.<\/p>\n
To the surprise of the crowd, Santa suddenly burst out laughing.<\/p>\n
Not just\u00a0a little giggle but\u00a0a great big fat belly laugh that bounced all over the toy department within the department store.
\nThe Elf quickly stepped up the stairs at the shock in proceedings and gestured for the boy to make some room.<\/p>\n
Santa tried leaning back into his seat to try and compose himself but\u00a0the laughing just\u00a0wouldn’t stop.<\/p>\n
The boy stepped back and watched Santa continue to laugh and wipe tears of joy from the large mans red cheek. Santa eventually turned to the Elf and dipped his head towards the gifts. The Elf reached into the large red sack next to Santa seat and handed him a wrapped package which Santa then duly handed to the boy.<\/p>\n
“Here you go son, have this little gift for now, don’t worry I’ll see what i can do!” said Santa who was still chuckling as the Elf then led the boy away to the exit side of the stage. The Elf opened the small ornamental gate and handed the boy back to\u00a0his waiting parent. The boy and his parent both\u00a0turned to make their way to the store exit to return home as the Elf closed the gate and walked back up the stairs and over to the man portraying Santa.<\/p>\n
The man was still wiping tears away from his face and still chortling in little fits and starts.<\/p>\n
“What happened there Danny?” said Stacy, the\u00a0girl\u00a0who was portraying an Elf to Danny, \u00a0the man in the Santa costume.
\n“Oh priceless!, priceless!” replied Danny aka Santa before adding. “I asked the wee boy his name and what he wanted for Xmas?”
\n“Yeah just like the store script” replied Stacy. “So, what did he say?”
\n“The wee man, he steps up and says ‘My names Kieran and I want to play left back for Celtic before I’m 18!”
\n“Aw bless him” sighed Stacy “another football wish”
\n“Yeah but\u00a0thats not half of it” said Danny “When I asked him “Oh yeah, anything else” for a laugh, he replied “And I want to have my own song sung by the Celtic fans!”. His own song..hahahaha! Oh\u00a0I’ve heard it all now Stacy. I mean for Gods sake, I’m Santa, Im no a Miracle Worker!”<\/p>\n
