If Kieran Tierney wass to be sold this summer I would venture to suggest the SB Sales would slump to an all time low.
What kind of message would that send out to any of the youth players aspiring to come through if we did?

Charlie better players than tierney have been moved on. If this is how low we have slumped then it’s sad. Tierney a progress has been highlighted by the dross he is associated with on match days. If the money is right let him go and spend it on players the new manager wants to bring in however I think tierney will keep getting better whoever he plays with and he is now a first team player. He may look at what’s happened to Ryan gaudd and just bide his time

So do we just scrap the youth setup, scrap building sides and simply revert to buying players, selling them in a hope that’s a recipe for success?
Games a bogey if that’s the case.

Could history repeat itself, after Stefan signed his EX manager followed 6 months later. Is Jess Thorup (I hear you say who?) about to follow RD into the Parkhead ‘Hot Seat’, after Celtic signing Erik Sviatchenko in the winter transfer window. He is already familiar with the ‘Money Ball’ philosophy and got his team playing European football after Christmas.

Personally I think the next manager needs to have worked at a big club before and has to have European experience. He should also be known for his team playing attractive football, while giving youth a chance. Does such a manager exist, I doubt it and if he did, could we afford him. I thought Dan Petrescu, but he is in China making a fortune. HH

Well it seems like Aberdeen’s much heralded challenge has run out of steam. Any decent manager with control over football operations and team matters and with our current budget, likely to be increased, will still be able to win the SPL by 12-18 points. I wonder if there is a McInnes out faction at Aberdeen? There certainly should be they talked a lot and have ended up empty handed and embarrassed by St. Johnstone. Lastly Sevco has been puffed up by our stupid tactics as consequent loss to them. They are now talking like they will be challenging for the SPL. Total Pish! That said we allowed them to beat us and actually breathed new life into their saggy lungs. That irks me so much. Hammering them would have deflated the hype. Now we are hearing Kingbtalk about complacency etc. sickening and infuriating. Anyway let’s get a decent new manager and start a fresh

The magnificent ‘Rangers ‘ of last week have now lost to Hibs and drawn with Celtic and Alloa within the space of seven days.
Smoke and mirrors being worked by The Magician and his magic hat.
When did they actually win a game with there Barcelonaesque football.
Roll on next season , they should just put 12 points in Celtic’s account now.โ˜˜โ˜˜โ˜˜

Statistics for game : Possession 63 – 37
Shots at Goal Rangers 9 Celtic 33
Shots on target. Rangers 3 Celtic 10 .

They passed the ball about in front of our defence for 120 mins and had 3 shots on target and managed to squeeze a win on penalties which is a lottery. I am not buying in to the wonderful Barcelona style football from ‘Rangers’ They got lucky as far as I am concerned we played poorly and did not take out chances. That is all it was a cup game which based on the stats we should have seen them off. The media will hype them up don’t
buy into it. None of the above is an illusion it is fact.โ˜˜โ˜˜โ˜˜

Two championship sides contesting the Scottish Cup final must be a first. No illusion Premiership clubs simply failed to play to their strengths. We blew the Sevco game by poor tactics and wrong players in the field for the start of the game. No mystery

I see Sanchez Flores may be on his way out of Watford. He might be a good shout, has done well at Atletico (Europa league winner) and with that job and Valencia and Benfica has good experience at big clubs. Done well for Watford too (and plays 2 up front for those who think this is important). Hasnโ€™t won a league before, so that might be an attraction? He also knows British football having been at Watford.

Would just like to say that I think Ronnie had an idea in his mind of the mind of player be wanted. a Target man and he got 3,but the problem was Nadir wasn’t actually a target man and the other 2 were not of a good enough standard to deliver what Ronnie thought he wanted. He should have realized what he needed from watching Griff score for fun with a big lad behind him in Rogic.

Griffiths is on target to hit 40 goals.
At some point folk are going to have to accept that this System suited him as a striker.
Though hell will probably freeze over first before some admit that.

Charlie Saiz. Way back when, you explained the 4-2-3-1 well. I bought into it once I realized we have four attacking players who would share the goals that once went to two attacking strikers. However, that worked better when we pressed them high and won the ball back in attacking areas. I still like the system. Trouble is, we don’t have any other striker (than Griffiths) who can play it. I do think Christie, Roberts Stokes or even Mackay-Steven or Forrest could play up front. Commons too.Our new man needs to be more flexible and somehow, I can’t imainge 4-4-2 again, but that should be given a chance too. Ronny had the right idea but maybe not the right players. We should create a system for the players we have and let them play to their strengths: 5-3-2 or 4-3-3.
I also read somewhere that good players at Barcelona think the British insistence on ‘tackling’ is insane. They prefer ball control, passing and ball retention and winning the ball back. Remember how good Johansen was last year at getting the ball back for us in attacking areas. I put another hat in the ring. For tactical nous, Tommy Wright is hard to beat. Yeah, why not Tommy Wright?

The problem Deila has had and I havve been saying this ALL SEASON is that when we lost both Dennayer and Van Dijk we had a major issue filling that hole in Central defence.
Jozo was brought in to solve that issue and Mulgrew would most likely have been his partner in there had both not got injured.
This created massive issues in defence as both Boyata and Ambrose with all the will in the World are not great defenders?
Subsequent inury to both Lustig then Jank created further issues at RB.
In front of that we had an underpe rforming Brown an erratic Bitton and also and under performing Johansen.
Both Brown and Johansen were key to the midfield pressing as were Armstrong GM-S and Forrest when fit?
The pressing game vanished this Season as we had so many struggling just to produce a performance let alone a performance PLUS the extra intensity needed to play this way.
Deila tried to change it, he dabbled with 2 up but unfortunately we brought in shite to back Griffiths up in Cole and CKR.
Deila is guilty of not playing to our strengths and as a result he’s paid for that with his job.
Thing is we may well have the biggest squad, the biggest budget etc etc but the fact remains the bulk of that squad are no better than the best at say Aberdeen?
We have a bloated squad with mediocre players, the best of them ie Lustig Brown Johansen Bitton have all underperformed this Season and as a result the we have strugled to produce the same levels reached in the second half of last season.
ANY MANAGER would have had issues this season with the cards Deila was dealt the sooner some realise this the easier it may be for the next guy coming in.
We need a serious clearout at Celtic and if the Club are serious about Europe then they need to get real and start buying the quality we are so obviously lacking in the squad REGARDLESS OF THE BUDGET we have by comparison to the other sides in Scotland.
We pay more because of who we are and where we operate.
Been saying it all Season.
Kiean Tierney has been the best player at Celtic Park all Season.
He’s probably made 1 mistake or had 2 mediocre games out of the entire Season.
An 18 year old with zero experience has shown them all up.
That should be telling you how bad some of the rest have actually been by comparison.
The new guy may well use the 4-2-3-1 himself?
Though I dare say he may well be flexible with his formations to suit the opposition?
Though like you say that could come down to the personnel he has at his disposal after the cull and imports in the Summer?
Time will tell.

I Disagree I think Ronnie had the right players and the right basic system, but couldn’t modify it based on the upcoming fixture. For example it the match against them…. It took me 4 minutes on a website to figure out that Stuart Armstrong should have been played instead of GMS. Why; because a huge proportion of that teams….. assists have come from their right back. His name starts with H. I love watching GMS run at defenses, but I clearly stated the day before Armstrong should be our #1 pick wide left. Furthermore I also stated that we should play our BEST Defender next to Lustig, but nooooooooooooooooo. That is what I am getting at, Ronnie couldn’t modify the tactic slightly depending on what we were likely to face, nor could he do it live.

Look at the stats of the game Tom they had 67 percent possession with 9 shots 3 on target Celtic had 33 shots with 10 on target The game ended 2-2. and they got lucky winning a pen shoot out. A lottery ? In any game. We played poorly I accept. But it is being portrayed as some sort of massacre . It was not They got the luck on the day and that happens in football. I don’t even think they are favourites to win the final.โ˜˜โ˜˜โ˜˜

Today. Ross County. It’s still Ronny’s team(4-2-3-1)
Gordon
New right back/Sviatchenko/Mulgrew/Tierney
Armstrong/Allan
Forrest/Rogic/Commons
griffiths
Christie to come on. Room for McGregor too.
3-0 to the bhoys. Hail, hail

Delbhoy

It does work but it needs a goal scorer playing behind Griffith’s and one of the two midfielders to provide support like faleni did yesterday , carrick sat back and did the donkey work. I think Armstrong could go beside brown and break forward when he can. Its obvious Forrest’s pace is missed to so we need to get him signed up, would like to see Christie given an opportunity as well either number ten or wide left. Maybe Roberts could go inside and play the number ten role. The. New boss has plenty options

Cheers Delbhoy, and I like what you’re saying. Maybe like me and Eric Morecombe “I’m playing all the right notes, although not necessarily in the right order!” I think we have all the right players but not in the right position(s) Maybe you’re with me too about Armstrong—a lot of Tims on this site don’t rate him but the lad hasn’t been playing in his most effective position. I do believe our new manager will inherit a pretty young, fit and decent squad, with a few exceptions. But then,I still rate Ambrose. He has the pace that none of the other CD have, except maybe Boyata, who is not as good in the air as Efe. When Efe, plays we win most stuff in the air. I also rate Forrest highly nor have I given up on Mackay-Steven. He needs some good coaching and support to flourish. Maybe Ronny will try some new stuff today. It can’t be worse than Sevco. That defeat still rankles because we should have put them away. Tactically,Deila was bested by Warburton. Stevie Clarke? I need to think about that. Not if we could have MON or Lenny. I’m still no sure about Lenny returning.

Ralph johann mjallby ? Think just having a firm hand and some respect doesn’t equate to being managerial material maybe you’re right I dunno My take on it is mjallby wouldn’t be any better than Ronny maybe more economical and more decisive.

Think If Celtic are going to run with the same quality of player as we have now Then there is more need for the highest quality of manager available to get the best out of them.

Mjallby was an average centre back and an even more scare age midfielder no nonsense surrounded by a bit of quality as a manager ? Who knows ? Have we depreciated so low ?

Michael o Neil ? Ffs. We need to set our sights a bit higher the problem is is that we’ve had an ordinary time , so ordinary , that we are willing to accept anyone who has had a modicum of success. Isn’t the idea to learn from past mistakes and try and get the perfect fit? And not resort to scraping the barrel ? It smacks of a collective low self esteem that’s clouding our thinking. Anyway it’s fucking depressing that our brightest minds have just given in ( not that you have any say in the matter). If the powers that be do troll sites like these I hope to fuck they don’t take your opinions on board when they finally decide on a manager. This next choice is vital to our future as a club because we are on a crossroad that could make or break us. Mjallby no. The Argentinian yeah but an illusion. Moyes is a wanker Keane an opportunist. Funny enough for all the derogatory remarks I’ve made about Neil Lennon. He would be more viable to us right now and better than the choices from the brains trust on the podcast. I’d rather a foreign coach. Who knows European football. Someone of the ill of wim Jansen

Looks like our players are also waiting for Delia to go. No extra spark today, no reaction, and could have easily been beaten. Very fragile. If I were on the board now I’d ask Delia to go and put in a caretaker manager till the end of the season. One that they would respect and who would tell them all that it is the club that matters, not the manager, not the playing staff but the club and if they want to stay then f@@king play your head off. Delais and players attitude today shocking. Clear out required!!

absolutute garbage today. anyone thinking Kieren Tierney is the reason why 20000 season books should be gauranteed needs thier heads examined.

Why do we have to wait for a cheap successor to be named until the summer, maybe the board will stick to classy tactics and pick someone 5 mins before the transfer window closes. My fear is collins. hes cheap available and will guarentees LaWWwls 2mil a year. Thats 2 decent players wages a year btw.

PS. This system suits grifiths because any system suits him. he has scored wherever he has played.

Clueless, gutless, leaderless a descripion of that shambles that played at Paradise.
The manager has gone, but some of the players should hold their heads in shame, especially the Captain.
Ross County should have won, that’ was a waste of a Sunday afternoon
