Celtic Diary Saturday February 27: Learning Curve ? Which Way?

Unsurprisingly, celtic dropped two points in Lanarkshire last night.

Unsurprisingly, the players aren’t learning.

Efe Ambrose wasn’t playing last night. Vilified for making a last ditch tackle against ross county, manager Deila felt it was only fair to let someone else make an arse of it and get himself sent off, despite the norwegian making an example of ambrose and presumably telling defenders not to make last man sliding tackles.

Jack Charlton famously once gave each of his Ireland players a single word e. At half time not one of them could remember it, and his point was that if they can’t remember one word, how are they supposed to remember any sort of instruction once they take to the field ?

Hamilton were always going to start with five at the back and six defensive midfielders. They conceded eight to Celtic last time out, and were not going to allow that to happen again.

Deila went with Allan, Commons and the in form Mackay Steven as his back up forwards.

Allan because he can pass a ball, Mackay Steven because he’s on form, and Commons to make it difficult for Hamilton to hit Celtic on the break. By the time the Accies player had run a full circumference of the man affectionately known as tubby tum tum the whole team could have got back behind the ball.

And yet the central defence was still exposed, in pretty much the way it always is when Boyata plays.

Efe Ambrose doesn’t deserve the flack that comes his way. Boyata does. He should not have made that tackle. And the fact he got the ball, if indeed he did, is irrelevant. He impeded the forward.

The referee gave Celtic two penalties, one of which was scored, the other missed. Griffiths has now missed two out of three penalties. As an instinctive striker, there are few better, When he has to think about what he is doing, forget it. He’s predictable.

If you take a penalty with the outside of your foot, after a straight line run, it will hit the inside of the post and the keeper cannot reach it. So my pony tailed pal roberto Baggio used to say. He only tried something different once, and it cost his country the World Cup. He didn’t want to be predictable.

I said before the game i just wanted the points, and it didn’t happen. so i’m not surprised by the result.

I’m not surprised at all.

Its that fucking strip.

Designed with children in mind, don’t take my word for it, ask New Balance and the head of Celtic Retail, the garish flourescent number is not conducive to finding a team mate with the ball. At one poin tin the game, Mikael Lustig was asked by another steward to help him with a guy in a wheelchair.

Hoops all the time. In the marketing world its known as brand identification.

It tells our guys we are Celtic, and tells the opposition who we are.

after the game, Ronny couldn’t avoid the cameras…

“In the second-half we produced chances and should have scored two and killed the game but we didn’t do it, they got a chance and finished the set-play.

“I think it (the red card) was an okay decision. I saw it one more time and I don’t think he touched the ball. We have to learn from these situations. When you have one-v-one you have to run with people. We have quick defenders so they should run with them instead of taking chances and put us in a difficult situation.”

He’s right about the card. We’d have screamed for it at the other end. It makes no difference whether or not he “played the ball “

Law 12;

  • kicks or attempts to kick an opponent
  • trips or attempts to trip an opponent
  • jumps at an opponent
  • charges an opponent
  • strikes or attempts to strike an opponent
  • pushes an opponent
  • tackles an opponent
  • holds an opponent
  • spits at an opponent
  • handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area)

A penalty kick is awarded if any of the above ten offences is committed by a player inside his own penalty area, irrespective of the position of the ball, provided it is in play.

Nowhere does it say that if he made contact with the ball first it doesn’t count.

This rule might  apply in the playground, but it doesn’t in the real game.

And the sending off?

Law 12 again.

  • serious foul play
  • violent conduct
  • spitting at an opponent or any other person
  • denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
  • denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick
  • using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
  • receiving a second caution in the same match

He’s wrong in that we should not have to keep seeing the same movie every week. He is in charge, and he has presumably told the defence to do their jobs. If he isn’t getting the message across, we should find someone who can.

Either that or we are now signing players afflicted with terminal stupidity. Which might be the case, come to think of it.

Captain Scott Brown should not escape criticism either. The man who’s main contribution to games of late is to stare at opposing players really needs to avert his gaze to the ball, and then to a team mate, then back to the ball, and back to a team mate. Then there is an increased chance of him sending the ball to the afore mentioned team mate, and a better than average chance of it getting there.

And we slate Stefan Johansen…who at least does block opposing moves and never hides. Brown is living on his reputation, and if he doesn’t get the finger out and start to lead by example, then he can be our next big bank balance boost.

Going down to ten men meant Deila had to change things…

We were more offensive in our formation when we went a man down,

Offensive on the eye, he presumably means

We played 4-3-1-1 and we did that in the semi-final of the League Cup as well. Defensively we had good control and they didn’t cause us a lot of problems.

Yeah, we fucked that game up as well. Does anyone at that club actually learn anything ?

“When we won the ball we had chances but, having said that, we can be braver on the ball and create a little more in play. It’s still so close when you get two one-on-ones with the goalkeeper and a penalty and you miss it. Then, of course, it’s going to be hard to win football games.”

Its hard to won football games when the other team knows exactly how your team is going to play. They adapt. They are professionals.

Now and again, Ronny, do something a little different.

Which doesn’t include Kris Commons. Or Colin Kazim whatever his bloody name is.

Surprise the other lot .

In fact, Gauny just dae something…..

In other news, I’m going to take the dog for a walk, and explain the concept of sub nucleonic particle physics. She’ll have grasped the basics by the time I get back, unlike this squad, and this manager, who cannot seem to grasp the idea of working together at all.

If, as we expect, a new manager is in place in the summer after Ireland exit the Euro’s, then its unfair to keep Deila in place, and its also unfair on the players, because they know that whatever they do-and thus far it’s very fucking little-someone else will come in and have his own ideas.

In fact, get rid of the whole lot of them, and I’ll grab eleven guys out of the pub about an hour and a half before kick off against Morton.

They couldn’t play with less heart, less pride and less awareness than that lot last night.

Raplh i have to disagree with your view on the red card, it wasnt a red as boyata did play the ball, and it wasnt a red as the boy wasnt getting the ball before the keeper, the speed yet again which thomshun had the red out was breathtaking, he was still whilstling for the foul!! As for boyata i agree he is a diddy and should be punted.

As for your point about no midfield protection for the defence, if you have a midfielder who has no positioning, cant tackle, cant pass and cant track runs without trying to be the hard man and foul or obstruct people then you are always gona have problems but hey he is the captain and cant be dropped. As for him being the next bank balance booster….NOT A CHANCE….3m-4m is all we would get for him, there is a reason anyone half decent we have is sold yet no one actually ever wants brown! not even southampton lol

Jesus,
I Disagree with the terminology you are using and possibly your argument. I believe we have midfielders capable of PROTECTING defenses the issue is they are being asked to cover something behind them, none of our players have eyes in the back of their heads. You have to be behind the player you are being asked to cover or at the very least in line across the field. Along a more advanced p player to cover players behind his is quite frankly downright stupid. They should be asked to protect by quickly Closing down and harassing. In actual fact flock it. I might just write a piece on this over complicated tactic.

Good on you, Pal, you’re a Tim. Good on ALL Tims. I’ve now concluded that the only answer is to get that fucking (CEO) bean-counter out, sharpish, and along with Collins, Kennedy and Deila. The real shite is at the top, so prune that (CEO) prune 1st, and most of the board with him.
Put John Clarke and Kieran Tierney in joint, temporary control and at least we’ll have Celtic stalwarts in charge. Not to mention two of the best defensive footballers I’ve ever had the pleasure to see.

I fear we are back to the Liam Brady days! I remember being in Aberdeen and driving to Arbroath to pick up Clyde 1 on the radio in my car to enable me to listen to the match a cup tie against Airdrie which we lost, must have been around 91/92 ? After the game in his post match interview Brady quoted ” we gave Airdrie a good game” !!! Yep it is looking pretty grim from where I sit, Kazim Richards with 5 mins to go!!! This Celtic team lacks football intelligence.
It can lose you the treble, the double and (gasp) the league. Down to ten slightly above average players for the SPL imposes great constraints in how you attack and defend and on the use you can make of substitutes. Being slightly above average they managed a draw. I’m not sure anyone can do much with this bunch beyond what Deila is doing.

Totally agree ljas baker what to me is ignored or at least not dwelt on is the complete lack of anything resembling mid-field,we have nothing therefore anyone must understand that this impacts on both your defence then your attack,no team worthy of it,s name has a weak/slow/average mid-field,he RD that is seems not to understand the dynamics of the game, our much maligned defenders might not be as bad as made out, they are completely unprotected and have been since he came, ffs the other night no less a player than ougie imrie out performed our revered captain Broonie how badis that.

Monti, in Lennon’s latest interview he said (I’m paraphrasing) he had had enough because he saw that Celtic was fast becoming just an above average SPL team that could no longer compete in the CL. It wasn’t the fact that Deila that was replacing Lennon that changed things. Even Lennon wouldn’t be able o get much out of this lot. Celtic are championing a new football paradigm that Deila is supposed to introduce based on developing talent and selling it on and having a predominantly well trained group of Scots who can play a certain way. Deila is also up against a culture that is alien to his ideas about diet and being a 24/7 professional sportsman like Andy Murray. It will take more than a couple of seasons to see real results.

Totally correct it could take 3-5 years for the complete transition to take shape.
He has to first get rid of those who are holding it back.
ie those slowing down or breaking down after 3 games.
We need to find Browns replacement..that could be Henderson,Breslin or Findlay from the youth setup 3 good young players with plenty to offer?
It could even be Allan who can at least defend and tackle essentially?
Gordon will be gone in 2 years so Bailly anf Fasan need to step it up my money is on Fasan coming good he’s a good shot stopper.
Mulgrew possibly has a year left possibly gone in the summer but we have cover in his positions.
Commons -sorry too slow now and ultimately too lazy to play the way we need him to play.
We have Rogic Henderson McGregor Allan etc etc etc who can all drop in there no danger.
Whoever comes in will come into the same brief as Deila.
Deila has the correct approach the issue lays with whether he is the man to deliver it?
Not looking likely now going off the rumours etc.
So whoever it is needs to be of the same thought process?

Charlie saiz nobody is going to dispute that the quality of players is not what it should be BUT it is significantly higher than most of our league opposition it is the managers job to manage better performances from them either through man management tactical adjustment or juggling the playing resoutces

Charlie Saiz

Reply to  maryhillbhoy

It is when they are performing.
Lustig has been nowhere near the level of Kieran Tierney this Season that’s an 18 year old with zero International experience showing a 47 game Swedish International how it’s done.
Brown prior to injury was no better than McGregor even poorer coming back.
Lustig any better than Paterson?
Boyata any better than Soutar?
Johansen played any better than McGinn?
Armstrong any better than Hayes?
Cole or Richards any more use than Rooney?
Idon’t think so bud and ony given day there are guys in all the sides we have played who have shown better in most of the games we have played.
Under performing Internationals are not any better than over performing top flight professionals bud the margins are not that great between us and them.
Too many are off the boil or inconsistent when on form.

I think Boyata should be dropped he’s not at a level yet to justify selection.
I think Brown should be dropped possibly even replaced in the Summer if we can find one.
His best days are behind him now that much is obvious been a great servant etc but he’s on the slide.#
Same with Lustig another who faltters to deceive Tierney is twice the defender he is right now Janko and Fisher should be left to fight for the RB slot.
On going down to 10 men it is avoidable by sticking to what the Manager has requested ti argue otherwise is as naive as Boyatas decision making last night.
When we do go down to 10 as is always a risk at Celtic in Scotland we should be applying some Commons sense here.
I would suggest going into a 3-5-1 Formation at least this way we retain a Defence Midfield and attack without conceding possession.
To do this you need to have cover on the bench.
Ambrose and Mulgrew for example as both can cover both the CB and FB positions if need be.
Deila is culpable for having too many Midfielders on the bench.
We could have gone:

………….BAILLY
.
….AMBROSE SVIETCHSNKO MULGREW
.
LUSTIG BROWN…..JOHANSEN…TIERNEY
…………..ALLAN
.
…………..GRIFFITHS

What normally happens is the opposition put on extra width and try to stretch you and as happened last night they start to isolate the fullbacks and double on them.
With going with the above setup both wingbacks are backed up by the right and left CB who in Celtic case are both experienced FB’s anyway so they know the dangers.
We would retain strength in the central midfield whilst also threat on the counter.

Maryhillbhoy, you me and most people on here passionately care about Celtic. We know when something isn’t right, and we say so. Ronnie has his followers in Charlie Saiz, among others who I respect for standing by him, and wish it was all about the stats.
But it’s not it’s about the stats.
It’s about Knowing when the game is up and doing the honourable thing.
I got a little bit of stick for daring Celtic to change it yesterday, go at Hamilton in a more direct fashion, playing with a big guy as the main striker with Leigh and Kris playing freely. It would have given Hamilton a lot more to think about than letting us have the ball and putting it wide.
But it’s the same old same old with Ronnie.
I also believe we would be better suited to go on Wednesday with
Gordon
Effe Eric Mulgrew,
Lustig right wing back Izzy left wing back.
Armstrong Brown Johansen.
Griffiths and Kazim Richards
Horses for courses.
But we get the same system wether we have a squad capable in my opinion of much more.
Roberts ,Mackay Stevens, Commons , Tierney,
If it doesn’t work then they change back to 442 or 4231.
The board will cling on to him as the man they probably want isn’t available yet. I hope it isn’t Stubbs?

@Jimmy
I agree on the formation that’s EXACTLY what I would have went with.
In fact a post went missing earlier where I stated we should have gone with
3-5-1 when Boyata was sent packing.
We would have retained a strong defence and midfield as a result retained the possession we had whilst retaining a threat on the counter.
Deila is too negatie in this situation and needs to have a bench set up for just incase.
Ambrose and Mulgrew on the bench as both can play Wing Back ,Centre Back and Defensive Mid at a push.
that’s 6 positions on the pitch covered by 2 players.
Deila is naive in his bench selection.

Ralph,by my reckoning Hamilton going by the Fitba rules should have bee down to 9 men.Our defenders are frightened to tackle because of refs sanctions, besides the Hammy forward was i repeat was offside.
You must vary your tactics weekly to suit the opposition, now every team we meet be it in Europe or Domestically know how to play us.Again (Ronny will never change his system).
Broonie joins a list of Cellic players well past there best,John Young is correct we need to bring in Big Strong Athletic players for Mid.especially.
Defensive Mid players need to be Disciplined and not be in oppos. boxes.

This rule book, can you show me where in the rule book, it say’s, if the defender get’s his foot to the ball and therefore making that challenge a clean one, it is a clear penalty?

Great read as always Ralph…

But I must disagree with your interpretation of Law 12, which is also subject to the caveat that a free kick is only awarded where “(the subject) tackles an opponent to gain possession of the ball, making contact with the opponent before touching the ball”

I thought that it was clear that Boyata touched the ball first hence no free kick;I actually almost fell off my couch (and I hadn’t been drinking that much) listening to the morons on BT Sports (which I generally have a lot of time for as a football broadcaster ) arguing that it was still a free kick and sending off even if he got the ball on the grounds that it “didn’t change direction” and that it was “a last ditch tackle”. Good thing Franco Baresi never played in Scotland. Just a shame that Scottish football isn’t held in high enough regard that Howard Webb sin’t included on the panel of “analysts”

In any event, it was the usual Deila shambles and I really have no idea what formation Celtic are trying to play most of the time; at times it looks like 2-7-1 to me – it seems clear that the players have no idea either from the way they wonder around the field at times almost colliding with each other whilst leaving other vast vacuums of space – usually behind them.

Lets get rid of this coaching team and its muddled ideas and bring someone in who can coach possession football and proper positioning on the field. That’s the only way to really succeed in Scotland and have any sense of style whilst doing it given the quality of the opposition.

1888fc

Someone will probably correct me but only time I can remember Deila’s side winning after going down to 10 men was Aberdeen away last season. If we get a man sent off its only a matter of time before we concede. 2 semis this year and last we have crumbled from a winning position, we should be good enough to defend and hit on the break, protect what we have and avoid defeat.

A rookie manager “Robbie Neilson” has drilled his team on how to play if/when they go down to 10 – can’t say he has necssarily got it right but at least there is an attempt to get players adapting to situations.

We play in the same naive gungho fashion, with proper organisation and application we should be able to stop the opposition scoring and hit on the break with our pace. When we get chances we are often profligate and not clinical enough.

I actually thought Thompson (for a change) had a good game last night. The second pen was an excellent decision, after warning that Ziggy Stardust player to stop holding lustig, he didn’t take any further shite. Good to see. As for Boyata, It was a sending off in my eyes, such a reckless tackle regardless of whether he touched the ball.

Celtic were shite. Pure & simple. You’re right Ralph it’s plain to see this isn’t a team who are learning. Ronny has lost the dressing room big time. We need someone to shake things up, someone to strike a bit of fear and fight into the players. So it might be worth (as your last paragraph is hinting) for Dermot’s initial suggested project to get a run out.

Lastly, what does an 11 million player have to do to get playing instead of those reprobates last night? Brown, Johansen, commons dreadful I thought Griffiths was poor too. Do we honestly think we are going to get beyond the first round of the premliminaries (of the champs league) with the current squad!!! Awful.

well some of you got your way and Allan started,so we had 2 young scottish players, with him and GMS,IT,S LIKE STARTING THE GAME WITH 9 MEN,thenwe have capt calamity who has been crap since he came,4.5 million wasted,we could have got a top class creative midfielder for that, the boardare just ignoring the shit we are playing.we should be walking this league,we have nothing to beat, but we waste money on shit from other scottish clubs 4 million to the ARabs for garbage.10 in a row fuckin joke wish those idiots would stop singing it.even if we scrape the league, the season books will be selling less next season, unless we bring in a proper manager and spen significant money on technically astute players’

The game was a shambles for many reasons. Because I can’t get to away games I watched it on telly. Boyata got the ball and the Hamilton player started offside. Craig Thomson is only acting on orders from his superiors. Deila needs to fight for his players and realize the MIB factor in Scottish football. Griffiths should not do penalties. Down to ten, we should go 3-5-1. Efe is better than Boyata. Afterwards, Deila showed no fight or passion at all. Hate to say it but he is a doomed man. I am always loyal to Celtic but my loyalty to Deila is reaching its breaking point. Ten Celtic players should be good enough to beat any 11 in our league. Any good man manager should inspire his players. I don’t think Deila (or Norwegians?) do inspiration generally. I see where Lenny says he wouldn’t mind coming back to Celtic? If I had emerald-tinted spectacles I am sorry they are now broken. Last night was shameful and I can’t defend it any longer. I’ll leave it to the rest of you to argue who will succeed Ronny. I could go with MON or Lenny but nobody else put forward convinces me. I saw the light realising Deila wasn’t Mowbray. That doesn’t matter if Deila doesn’t know who he is or what his job at Celtic is. To quote Popeye, “that’s all I can stands, I can’t stands no more.” We need a manager who knows how to kiss ass and that means our own players from time to time. I defend Johansen by the way. He fought and fought. What the feck was Broonie up to? Pass the humble pie please. Sorry for my mis-placed enthusiasm. I thought I was being a good Celtic supporter. Jings crivvens, help ma boab!

p.s. Chris Sutton kept telling the tv audience how wrong Thomson was and that Boyata clearly got the ball first and that the Hamilton man was clearly offside. Sutton was right and Thomson was once again wrong. Is there a rule that a ref can’t have SOME humility? Surely, if there is a hint of doubt then NO red card.

I was never that good to make the professional grade, but while growing up I played with and against plenty players who had.I have also been watching Celtic since the late fifties and I know when I am watching a manager who does not have a clue and is out of his depth trying to run a club like Celtic.

Last night was so predictable! I don’t know what this ‘trying to control the game’ nonsense is after DB sent off – we should be using those games as practice for Europe – set up solidly, defend deep and in numbers, try to catch them on the break. We were 1-0 up, so if Hamilton didn’t come out and try to play, let the game peter out to a 1-0. Get the result and move on!

” We Try to be world class in everything we do “- Peter Lawwell.

Spidey100

As I see it, we have three main weaknesses defensively: (1) set pieces – better than earlier but still ropey. Not much to do there but practice; (2) we lose goals when players counter straight down the middle of the park; and (3) we lose goals from wider areas – generally forwards pulling behind full backs then cutting in, or pulling a centre back out of place then crossing/passing it to the runner in the middle where the centre half should be.
So, to fix that and try to hold on enough to ensure we win this blooming league, I’d go 4-4-1-1 as follows:
Bailey/Gordon

Listing; Erik; whoever is fit/not suspended; KT

Brown; Mulgrew; Johanson/Biton; Izzy

Commons/johanson

griffiths

Basically, greater protection for the full backs, with Izzy and Brown taking on more defensive responsibility; more solidity down the middle with Mulgrew sitting at all times and a runner/passer beside him.
If we go down to ten men (as we will) – commons and Biton/Johanson off, brown and Izzy tuck in, Forrest on, hanging around in front of the midfield three to break with pace.

hello all…..well im not long back from a trip to thailand and Vietnam and i must say its hard enough coming back to work but when the football is so bad it makes it even worse.
our defending is awful and we have no creativity in the team.
we do not look like a good team and for the first time i am actually worried that we might blow the league.
there are so many things wrong right now its shocking. i said back in December that i would give Ronny until now to get the team playing well and winning well…….its not happened, we are going backwards and this is very worrying.
the fact that we have by far the best players in the league yet teams like ICT can outplay us even at home tells is own story.
i fear a disaster could be on its way but i hope and pray we can fall over the finish line and win 5 in a row but even if we do, which is a if now, and i hate saying this….Ronnys time is up as i cant see things improving while he is in charge.his biggest failure is our defence which is shockingly bad, we cant defend corners or free kicks, there are holes all over it and we have players who constantly make mistakes……could you imagine what Barcelona would do to us ??
new manager is what should be next but we wont get a big name…..for me i like what big yogi has done at ICT and might might well be good.

Every game managed by this trio could not be bettered by the Marx brother.
Week after week it is ashambles, we may not have the best players in Europe but a manager who instills a discipline would win the league with this lot.
I am sick at watching mince, last weekend against Cally Thistle was a disaster.
There is no defensive setup and week after week the man of the match is KC, what does that say about the rest, or Is it a fact that the players have given on JC and Delilah.
If Lawell does nothing he will struggle to sell season books.

DEILA OUT!

Charlie Saiz

Post gone missing try again
The game was a bust the passing was wild
Celtic are hopeless without the Golden Child
The pins come out as they shout and bawl
Stabbing like madmen at their wee Diela Doll
“Deila Ooot! Deila Oot!”they rant and scream
“Jamesies the saviour of this Sellick team”
The Ayrshire Mafia come and try to convince
That the hair flick maestro will transform this mince
Into Champions League Level at the swing of his boot
Whilst he dances bye defenders with his tadger oot
He scored the winner against Shakhter you see…
Even though it was Stokes who dribbled past three
Then delivered a cut back laid it on a plate
Wee Jamesie the hero though to his Ayrshire mates
The amiable Norseman never stood a chance
From the deluded within besotted with the romance
That we’re still somehow relevant in the big scheme of things
Have a right to champions League and all that she brings
We should be winning every game you see
by three or four goals cause “wur Celtic Fc”.
No wee team has a right to up their game
Take on the Celtic when we’re playing at hame
Or score any goals not acceptable you see
We should just turn up collect the points all three
If only the child of Golden would sing his contract
Deila would fuck off and bring St Martin back..
All would be well the good times would roll
As we blow £30m to gain complete control
Of a League now bereft of any real challenge
Sail past 10 in a row without a single whinge
That’s the solution you see for those spoiled with success
Fuck the rest of the Clubs lets be “Simply ra best” 😉

Charlie the Celtic supporters do not suffer from ‘we are the people’ complex.
What they demand is a team that will fight for the jerseys, win lose or draw. A team that plays quality football week in and week out.
As Stein said the punters pay to be entertained on a Saturday, people are not winging at defeat, they are winging at the shambles seen on the park week after week. We beat Cally last weekend, themajorityof the game Celtic were mince.
This revolves around the trio of buffoons that organise the team.

Charlie Saiz

Some do though bud.
Read plenty shite over the years to verify that some have the divine right to win complex.
Or the spend to win mentality like yonder fuckwits over the river.
To say we don’t have that type is naive at best.
Success breeds those types pal don’t kid yersel that those who haven’t experienced the lean years have not been tainted by the relitiely successful ones.

Charlie, you really are talking nonsense. We are going nowhere under this guy and the penny has finally dropped with the masses, though some saw this coming from the off. There was no grand plan, my God, the guy can’t even react to different circumstances in one game, let alone putting Celtic on a proper course. If circumstances have been or are out of his control, he should be man enough to walk away and let the board take the doing they deserve.
Fuck all to do with glory hunting or the demand to spend money.

I only tend to bring out the stats when I read a pile of pish based on nothing more than fantasy or imagination bud so you are ok for now 😉
Like the 2 up debate that raged for 18 month for example.
The goals scored tally seems to indicate it playing 1 up has been just as potent as playing the traditional 2.
Or the fact the current system broke a 96 year League record last season proving with the right personnel doing their job it is also a solid defensive formation.
Other than that I put the odd one up to keep folk informed.
If Deila goes he goes bud no skin off my nose.
His vision is fine just the making it reality is the issue for me.
If he’s not able to motivate then rightly so he will be gone.

Ten times the budget of any other Scottish club. When the Murderwell job was advertised they reported 75 applicants, the only reason we got the Norwegian was because as Charlie S said was a tie up with the Johanson deal and because Keane turned it down, principally because P.L.didnt want him.

There are plenty jobs that would pay more in Europe and in the lower English divisions. Only DD offering silly money would attract any really experienced manager to Celtic Park these days. I know we all think Celtic is the be all and end all – those with careers either playing or coaching usually think differently. So I think we are living in cloud cuckoo land to think we are going to get an experienced “named” manager with a really winning record in Europe.
