IF YOU’RE PICKING ON ME YOU’RE LEAVING SOME OTHER ZOMBIE ALONE

Seriously? A complaint about a banner that is basically satire.

For those who haven’t seen the banner it effectively shows a human de-evolving into an ape then a grave. A hand then rises from the ground in classic zombie b movie fashion before an undead silhouette is shot down by a gunman adorned with a shamrock. The gravestone is decorated with a RFC logo. In fact, here is a link to the offending banner. Make sure you haven’t eaten before viewing.

So, what we have is a bunch of over-senstive hyacinths getting worked up because their club is dead (fact) and the replacement is being mocked as nothing more than an undead doppelganger (fact).

Of course, the knee-jerkers over Govan way are saying the banner is offensive because it depicts them as apes before being shot and that the sniper is an over allusion to the IRA. If these self same purveyors of putridness had spent as much time analysing this pictorial allegory as they should have in respect to the shenanigans at their own old club then the banner needn’t ever existed.

Just like the infamous ‘FENIAN FREE IN DIV 3’ one wouldn’t. Every action has a consequence, but not as much as inaction.

I could get neck-deep in whataboutery here. Once again we get back to the point of the best way to deal with the zealots who support Sevco is to quite frankly ignore them. We don’t need banners mocking their sorry but hilarious demise. We can get on with supporting a team who play Champions League football, not one which gets beaten at home off of a part-time team in a competition sponsored by a glorified pawn shop.

Quite what George A. Romero would make of all of this fuss remains to be seen.

(NB: please note that the zombie picture chosen to accompany this picture is in no way meant to represent your average Sevco supporter.)

Time for the club to make a wee stand on this. No time for mea culpa.

No case to answer.

Wonder where the complaint came from!

Got to question the timing of said article: the banner was from about 3 months ago.

Having said that: big respect to the Green Brigate !!!!

I have emailed the SFA and asked the following, very relevant, questions which should have been asked by the MSM churnalist pack.

1) who, or what group, is offended?
2) was a complaint received by the SFA?
3) if a complaint was received, when was it received and who (or what group) complained?
4) what is the nature of the perceived offence taken?
5) why is the charge only being brought now when the banner was displayed on 24th July, two months ago?

The SFA response, should there be one, will be interesting.
