Celtic Diary Saturday November 1: Gerrard For Celtic ?

We’ve got some nonsense in todays diary, which we will come to in a moment. Even by the standard previously set by Etims what we are hearing is ridiculous.

But theres a game today, and that comes first. Unless you have a tyrannical employer who noticed that you took a weekend away when he wasn’t watching.

Celtic face Inverness in glasgow today, and with the hoops on a bit of a roll right now, its entirely possible that come teatime normality is restored to Scottish football with celtic at the top f the table.

Its unlikely, given the set of results required, but it shows that with a win today, league leadership should not be too far away.

Aleksandr Tonev is unavailable for todays game, his appeal papers weren’t lodged in time, which means the SFAs ban stands for now. Tonev has not referred to them as a bunch of cheating jock bastards, but no doubt someone will tell them he has.

Kris Commons still has a sore arse, and James Forrest and Derk Boerrigter are also injured, which won’t surprise anyone. Boerigter is out for two months, conveniently making it impossible to sell him in January.

Craig Gordon should keep his place in goal, with Mikael Lustig and Emilio Izaguerre on the flanks. Van Dijk and Denayeer in the middle, with Charlie Mulgrew just in front of them. Brown and Johansen either side of him, with Calum MxGregor in front of them, or possibly Anthony Stokes.

Leaving John Guidetti alongside my preference Leigh Griffiths, or more likely, Stefan Scepovic.

Anopther six goal win is on the cards, with Guidetti scoring a hat trick, racing to the front of the stand and whipping off a his shirt to reveal a t-shirt emblazoned with

” Fuck You Fat Boy , You’re Next  ” ,

on it , but you’ll have to work out for yourself who has annoyed him …..

One interesting bit of news. We are aware that Celtic have suffered a little more than usual with injuries this term, with nearly everyone hurt at some point or another, and this has been blamed on the intense training methods introduced by Ronny Deila.

Deila , though, is doing something about it, which could be another sign that rather than kick the doors down and demand things be done his way, he has opted for a stealth approach in getting is own way.

Bård Homstøl moving to Glasgow to take care of the physical and medical at Celtic.

Roughly translated, very roughly, to be honest, this is the story from Norway;

Homstøl, which until now has been the player progresses in Odd, is Ronny delicious man on the physical and medical area in Scotland.

He goes to a consultant position in delicious support, and looks forward to taking on this task in the Scottish capital.

– This is a very ok job, and a nice challenge academically. In addition, there is a great responsibility, he adds.

Homstøls tasks will be responsible for identifying and securing quality work with the physical and medical.

– Where I see there is room for it, I will also implement strategies and measures, says Homstøl.

Terminate the contract

Porsgrunn man Deila contacted Bård a while ago, and after a period of discussion, it is clear that Homstøl leaving Odd favor of Scottish Celtic.

Odd and Homstøl agree to terminate the contract with the ski club.

– It is clarified with the Odd, and the contract is terminated, saying Homstøl previously worked closely Ronny Deila in Strømsgodset.

Monday Homstøl go to Scotland, and joins the Scottish top club.

– I’m moving to Scotland right now, then we’ll take it as it comes from there, he says.

Bård Homstøl is married Grete Homstøl, that’s Odds physiotherapist

Lets be honest, my English to Norwegian is better than vice versa, but if Ronny says he’s delicious, then he’ll do for me.

Clearly , the manager doesn’t rate the medical staff at Celtic Park, and he’s doing something about it. Deila is growing on me, and although he’s not quite at the “You can sleep with my wife ” stage, he’s very nearly on the invitation list for sunday dinner.

Some might say thats the better option.

The word on the street is that Lassan Diara, once of Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid is in Glasgow for talks with Celtic. He’s a combative holding midfielder, which means that Nir Bitton might as well not renew the lease on his flat.

Apparently, his previous club-he’s currently unemployed-won’t release his registration, and that has stalled the negotiations a bit.

Speaking of transfer rumours, I was in Liverpool yesterday having my wallet nicked and a gentleman of the street informed me that Steven Gerrard was looking to finish his career in Glasgow.

Thats what I meant when I said there was some nonsense in todays diary.

The story has also been flogged to betting site  ”  bwin” , presumably by the same old drunk hen he put his line on, who claim that Gerrard wants a championship medal.

Meanwhile, Craig Gordon has thanked Second Rangers for saving his career!

Heres what he said;

“I was there most of last season working with their physios and doctors and trying to get myself to a level of fitness where I could compete again.

“Their help was invaluable. Without the physio Steve Walker I might not be where I am right now.

“The possibility of me joining Rangers was talked about but nothing offered.

“Their priorities lay elsewhere and probably rightly so. Would I have signed for them? Until it was presented to me I don’t know what I’d have done.

“The move came through Jim who was my goalkeeping coach when I was 15 and signed my first contract at Hearts.

“I understand the potential of an Old Firm match is a great talking point but we’ve our job to do this weekend then we’ll see what the draw is.”

Fair enough. He’s honest about it.

Note what he says about a possible clash with Second Rangers -” a talking point. “

Its not Celtic or their players doing the talking though.

Ally Mccoist, desperate for his new club to be seen amongst the big boys, and equally desperate for everyone to see it as the natural challengers to Celtic, has been running off at the mouth again, to the delight of his fawning friends in the media.

WITH dwindling crowds at Parkhead and Ibrox the Gers boss believes people now accept Scottish football needs the Old Firm matches to spark our game back to life.

“The irony is not lost on me. You had 16,000 at the Celtic game on Wednesday and you had 13,000 at our game on Tuesday night.

The difference is Celtic expected a small crowd. For Mccoists side, a quarter final in a national competition is a big game.

But if Rangers play Celtic in the semi-final or the Final you could play the game at the Maracana.

“In terms of the greater good of Scottish football it would be a good thing.

“Everybody would look forward to the game. I’ve missed them and so has Scottish football.

Half right. He’s missed the games.

“Contrary to what one or two people might have said at the time, it’s still one of the biggest club matches in the world.

How can it be ? We’ve never met them ?

“You can talk about differences of quality, absolutely. But in terms of atmosphere it is up there with anything.”

Lets talk about the perpetual myth that they are the same thing.

Lets ask Donald Findlay, a QC who has been known to declare his love for the Glasgow Rangers.

Embedded image permalink

Findlay also stated;

I can come up with an argument to defend Peter Tobin of murder, but the argument that this new rangers franchise is the same club, that’s beyond me

 Also on that back page we see Mccoist telling John Guidetti to calm down, and in another paper, he takes a swipe at the Swede;

Ally McCoist slaps down John Guidetti after Celtic ace

warns that he’ll help sink Rangers in Old Firm cup tie

Guidetti, of course simply said that whoever stood in front of Celtic at Hampden was” going down ”

IBROX boss says Swedish striker is over-excited after his midweek hat-trick and that he was the same after his first Rangers treble but at least that was against 11 men.

Er, that wasn’t Guidettis first hat trick. He used to play for Feyenoord , and did the deed a few times for them.

Perhaps McCoist is talking shite, or perhaps he genuinely believes his team of non-entities actually stands a chance against the hoops.

Nope, another paper picks up on it. The press are enjoying this.

Rangers boss Ally McCoist laughs off Celtic star jibe

ALLY McCOIST today laughed off claims by Celtic striker John Guidetti that Rangers are “going down” if the Old Firm rivals clash in the League Cup semi-final.

Ally McCoist is not running scared of Celtic ... if they are drawn together in tonight's League Cup semi-final draw

I never want to see Celtic face this shower of shite from south of the river. Rangers died two years ago, and the world is a cleaner, healthier place without them.

( Although I really , really would like to see them reminded of what they actually are, which is a second rate , second division side with no footballing ability whatsoever.)
At 5pm today Celtic will be drawn against Second Rangers in the League Cup. Its almost certain. That way, the “Old Firm ” will play in Glasgow, and the “New Firm ” will play at Murrayfield.
The SPFL know that Second Rangers are not strong enough to beat -or even reallistically compete with the other three.
They will not pass up this chance to hype up Scotlands best side against Scotlands newest one.
That also ensures a big crowd for the final.
Funny how the moment a club from Ibrox emerges into the limelight, all the fucking cheating starts again.
( Note, if by some miracle Celtic don’t draw them tonight, I reserve the right not to apologise. The SPFL will simply have forgotten to heat the balls up. )
Bad news for coffee drinkers today, research has shown drinking coffee makes you more aggressive than drinking beer.
Last night, my wife had two cups of coffee while i was out, and i had my usual dozen beers.
 You should have heard her.

This fixation with Sevco must cease, they get enough crap printed in the MSM. Celtic are a far bigger entity than the aforementioned, not only that Delilah has some dignity compared to the pieman.
They and the media will try and hang their coat on any hook to tie Sevco to Celtic, but there Old Firm fixation is over Rangers are dead, and this mob don’ t get it . Onwards and upwards.

Brilliant Diary today, on par with Kevin Bridges and HIGNFY….insofar as they make me laugh out loud too! Have only done a couple of one liner posts in past but certain issues making me even more of a grumpy auld man than usual!
1. Can someone, anyone, please advise all shareholders, Directors, Non Execs and employees of Celtic FC never to utter the term “Old Firm” ever again please!
2. I detest the Scottish meedja for their blatant agenda regarding ‘selling’the newest Glasgow club and doing this through scrupulous voice pieces. If you are a supporter of any other Scottish football club then I do hope you have stopped putting money into the coffers of the MSM.
3. John ‘He understands Celtic’ Guidetti, makes general comment about opposition and press has no qualms in setting this up to be attacked by the Clueless One……..I know, I know, some things will never change! Ralph’s t-shirt comment above was a classic!
4. I dread meeting the new entity in cup, not in football terms but because I, like many supporters of other clubs, actually quite like the absence of those horrible non-football issues before and after the game.
5. I have lived in England for circa 30 years and try to get to see The Bhoys when I can. I never missed a game in my younger days, where three things stood out: we never left before the final whistle; win, lose or draw we applauded the team for their efforts; and we NEVER EVER booed the team – those lucky enough to be able to get to games regularly please, please vociferously educate those who have leaned towards h#nnish tendencies.
6. The drivel read over the last few days via the press
fae the newest club has made my blood boil. I have never been in favour of ‘boycotts’ but as suggested earlier in week by A N Other poster, what a message to the horrible mob and their friends at the SFA if we told them to stuff their tickets! If we could only guarantee a double figure victory!

KTF Bhoys…….because we are Celtic supporters faithful through and through.

Just watched the Highlights of the Partick game on You Tube. Guidetti looked fantastic, three quality goals. Obviously single out for man of the match but the whole team going forward looked brilliant. A bit like the Tommy Burn’s teams of old. Don’t know how we were defensively but if we can maintain this attacking game my worries of the early season will definitely dwindle. I think by appointing this new medical/physical coach would suggest that RD is here for the long term.

Cant understand the amount of folk who don’t want Sevco in the cup, part of me thinks by pretending they don’t matter folk are giving the ultimate insult to them, and they might be right.

But I’m unapologetically excited at the thought of playing the tribute act and praying we get them.

You don’t get it Kris,do you ?
Turmoil in the streets, billy boy songs in the stands, their
chance to say, they are our equal,by just being on the same park as us.
The draw hasn’t even been made, and the laptop loyal, are
giving the Sleekit one, every opportunity to put THEM in the spotlight.
My wish is they draw the sheepies. So,Sleekit can go back into
his box,and he can’t mention us,and he goes back to talking about the minor league they are in.Where they will have a job overtaking the jam farts !!

Cmon turmoil in the streets? when was the last time you saw that really, Ajax stuck out because its so rare these days? Strathclyde polis take pleasure in draconian measures before games that pose any risk.
Billy Boy songs-lets grow up and stop being so desperate to be offended,if they sing songs that they should nt (see above for who decides what’s offensive apparently)they get thrown out

We disagree about the potential new/auld firm tie Holy and that’s fine ,I understand some fans just want to ignore them, but lets no get carried away about the reasons why

Tony Paterson

Our Bhoys really need to stop mentioning them. This should be club policy.

Celtic v Dundee Utd
Aberdeen v Sevco

Absolutely perfect draw for me.

3 v 0 today. Scepovic double.

Btw quite how Tonev is banned for so etching he could be found innocent of on appeal is incredible. SFA are a corrupt complicit shambles of an organisation. Looking forward to wading through their lengthy report when they publish it…ahem.

Ronnie Delicious?
Any of you old timers like me might remember Slip Mahoney of “The Bowery Boys.” Slip always referred to a dead body as a “corpus delicious” Other stuff from Mahoney:
“I resemble that remark…”
“Casting nasturtiums on my reputation…”
“I depreciate it.”
“Let me regurgitate…
“optical delusion”
“clever seduction” (deduction)
“an old maxillary” (maxim)
Maybe Slip should have taken up with MSM?
Today’s game might let us see how much we’ve improved in two months.
Sevco? Bring them on.

In reference to Craig Gordon’s little piece in the media this morning regarding no offer of a contract from Sevco. Well Craig you will now know what you are dealing with as a Celtic Player as you have just been accused of mendacity by the Fat Boy of Ibrox as The BBC have just stated that in an interview after today’s game he was adamant that Craig Gordon had been offered a contract but he has neither seen nor heard from Gordon after providing him with the facilities to get himself back fit. Over to you Craig ?????

Gutted with the draw, Celtic cannot win in this. Already had Keevins saying Deila is under pressure; and no he wasn’t referring to our European tie.
Kris I’m not precious about the singing, but for three months we’re going to have to listen to renewing hostilities, what Scottish fitba has missed, form goes out the window, and all the other sh!te that will have my ears bleeding.
First game ever against a new team who are no rival of mine, and I will accept them as a threat if and when they prove to be one. But beating them will not be enough to offset the cost of these next months, cricket score or not. We cannot win in this!

Missed too many chances, today.Guidetti is a class player, great
movement and foot-work.He needs a partner, who is on the same wavelength as him,as Stokes isn’t good enough.Praise for
Caley, they played with high energy, and made us work for the points.Special mention for Zaluska, great double save,at the end,
after all he has been through,he deserves praise.
The draw ? Let’s put them in their place.By 1’st Feb,we could have a few new signings. Also, only playing one game a week, then,we should run all over the top of them !!

You know I have been one of Deila’s biggest critics and with reason. Today we had done well to get our noses in front against a well organised Caley and should have seen the game out more comfortably, or, indeed, should have stretched our lead given a little more composure up front. I think that Deila is asking too much of Johannsen and to a lesser extent Brown with the amount of high energy pressing that is required for his formation/ tactics to work. This was shown, particularly in the last 10/15 minutes when we could have ended up sharing the spoils. It worked ok in the last 2 games, but that was against 10 men and the big gaps between the midfield and defence started to appear again with alarming regularity. What would have been the answer? simple, Kayal should have replaced Mubarak ( who I thought played well) rather than McGregor, to add a bit more bite and stability to a tiring midfield.
Hopefully the Lassana Diarra rumours are true, as I think the guy is a class act and would give the middle of the park energy, security and a touch of class.
As for the the draw? FUCK THEM.

With you,here,Andy.
Mulgrew is not mobile enough. He has not played a good game, all season. Also, his trademark free-kicks,are now a thing of the past.Diarra in beside Brown and Johansen, would allow us to dominate the middle of the park.Like you,if we could sign Diarra,we would dictate play from the middle of the park, especially against any spfl opposition.

Not worried about the draw, guys this is good news. Any top player wants to play in a tense derby. This game is something the players, can look forward and work to. It makes the season a,wee bit more exciting for them. We’re gonna hammer them. No worries. Hail hail

Huge opportunity for the club to tell the truth.

Sad day for me, I hoped we’d never have to face this shower.

Not convincing yesterday but another clean sheet. Nail-biting stuff though. Stokes needs a rest. Why not Guidetti and Griffiths/Scepovich. Does anybody miss more chances than Oor Antony? Why can’t we put teams away, as early as possible by scoring a second goal?

Sevco? A good draw against a new team from a lower division. It has no experience of cup finals and indeed, has yet to win a cup.

Sorry andybhoy, I should have said CUP FINAL in the top division(s)I guess I don’t follow the lower divisions that carefully. I don’t know my Whitehill Wanderers from Sevco—that new team with no real history, but with the highest paid manager in Scottish football.

Part of me wants to hammer sevco and put their fans( no supporters ) back in their box but the thought of the msm salivating over them nauseates me. There should nbe a blackout on players other than Deei & Broonie talking to the media, and someone should get it inti their heid ther is no ‘auld firm’ and when appropriate remind all & sundry its a new team we play. Bucksake…if we concede a goal they shall take a moral victory. Times like this am glad am 12,000 miles away. Rant ere.

Celtic v Sevco – the draw the media wanted. Pieman didn’t because he knows what he has on his books. We didn’t because of the nonsense, delusions and other myths about “resumption of the Old Firm”. Here is the opportunity let’s make it clear this is the first game against the Championship side, lest write the facts about liquidation in the match notes, lest post the Sevco history to date and outline what the Oldco still owes creditors. It is a chance to reinforce the facts and ignore the delusions of Sevco and the media. Also it is the Scottish Champions versus a second place championship side. We would expect to win against any lower league opposition and this is no different. So Celtic lets publish the facts in our match day program and then lets get to the final.
