New Year – New Signings – New Sensation!

Hector, Monti and Desi get together to welcome the new year and welcome our new signings.

They herald the wonderful new sensation of getting players signed early rather than at the last minute….as per our usual antics.

They discuss the opportunities ahead, they discuss the potential problems and they discuss the changes being seen at Celtic under Ange’s reign, including shock early signings and smack down of the Press and rumour factory.

They look at the Squad and the level of quality on the pitch and on the bench and what that could mean. They consider potential exits before February comes around and wonder if Celtic really are finished in the current window.

They look forward to the rest of the season and assess Celtics chances of kicking on and grabbing success. They compare approaches and consider whats going on elsewhere in the football world.

The feeling is one of hope…starting on Monday…Mon the Hoops

They don’t want to belong to a club that would have them as a member.
Looking forward to tonight, let’s go.

Have comments been locked on the last Diary (11/1)?

Good result and performance last night, keeps up the pressure on the Huns and hopefully Aberdeen can take something to add to their discomfort.

What was interesting was that we had only 47% possession, where normally this would be 60%+ and it wasn’t that Hibs did anything useful to stifle us with their “extra” possession.

It was noticeable that Jura and Taylor were getting the ball forward quickly and not the tortuous sideways and slow build-up (what a pass from the latter to Abada leading to the penalty).

Of course, somethings never change, as we committed 14 fouls to Hibs’ 9. 🙂

Everyone is obviously missing our favourite conspiracist nutter. 😉

The Huns dropping 2 points (should have been 3) is certainly a great start to the New Year but we need to keep the pressure up by winning our games.

Next up in the league is away to Hearts next Wednesday, which is massive for us to get the 3 points, as any slip-up by us immediately lifts the pressure on them like we did against Livi and St Mirren.

They’re at home to Livi, which is usually an easy 3 points for them.

You must bear in mind, Des, that I only responded in kind to the goading of young Owen ‘Doughball’ Mullions.

Without his idiotic provocations I would still be here talking about the fitba and the sheer brilliance of Ange’s fitba philosophy and what it has brought to the Glasgow Celtic.

So I suggest that you consider such provocation in the light in which it is (un)worthy rather than blaming me for HIS taunting.

For if I came up to you in a pub and called you all kinds of names and made a mockery of YOUR history in front of everyone how would you react, other than in kind?

Consider this before engaging your Ever Ready Censorship finger then we can all get back to insulting each other in our usual light hearted manner.

Cheers and Chucky …

Have we ever bought 3 players and given them all a debut at the first opportunity with 2 on from the start? Real statement of intent by Ange to stamp his way on the squad and the board – let’s face it we don’t need more ‘squad’ players we need 1st team starters. Fair play to Broonie for the theatrics, they raised a smile, but there’s a word for the second yellow and it’s cheating.

Probably at the start of a season but not sure about January.

The ‘mad’ one where Robbie Keane, Kamara etc were signed may have been similar, although that one resulted in a loss and shortly afterwards the end of Mowbray.

Squad players are fine if they’re ready to play in any game but if they can only play in lesser games then its potentially a problem.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with O’Reilly, if he signs, will he be more involved than the likes of Shaw and Scales were or just the same.

In terms of fastest debut goals, I know Barry Robson scored with his first touch but has there being a faster debut goal from someone who started a game?

Broonie was caught in the follow-through, just like McGregor didn’t catch the Hibs player. 😉

Yeah should have said Jan window which is usually about European qualifiers readiness not man of the match performances. They should have had a pen for McGregor “challenge” ref was shocking all round.

Welcome Matt O’Riley to Celtic FC. As an attacking team it’s what we want at CP and Ange seems to be bringing in very good players; Reo looks something else. Only “but” is now in defence. I’d have CCV today but I doubt the PLC will stump up the readies. Anyway that’s for the summer. Onwards and upwards.
The difference from last season in style, tempo and all-round positivity is incredible. Oh, and we’ve already won a Cup! : )
