Celtic take on St Johnstone tonight as the potential cup double winners look to get some game time before they attempt to put their name in the history books.
Their opponents in the final, Hibernian, get a try out on Saturday
It will also be the last time Scott Brown, long time servant and proven winner, pulls on a Celtic jersey at Celtic Park.
Unless all the trains to Aberdeen are cancelled.
From the first time he was noticed by me, in particular, at Easter road , posing for a picture with fellow pin up pretty boy Neil Lennon…
to his invaluable and energetic contributions on the pitch…..
He’s more than just that though.
These days, average players earn fortunes elsewhere, and Brown could have taken the van dijk path to money and all the trappings that come with it.
He didn’t.
He came to Celtic from a Scottish club, and there were the usual mumblings about him not being good enough at the time, and he settled in and made a name for himself.
Countless team mates speak of his influence off and on the field, and in all seriousness the lack of an on field leader to make the transgression from old to new Celtic is a concern.
Seventh in the all time appearances table…

And the medal haul ?
Only Bobby Lennox (25) and Billy McNeill (23) have won more.
Brown has 22, and has earned the right to be spoken of in the same breath as McNeill and Lennox.
It’s a different game now from their days, and Brown excelled in what he had to do, he won the trophies that were put in front of him to win, and he did it under a few managers, with dozens of different team mates.
Whichever way you look at it, he’ll be very difficult to replace, and maybe one day he’ll emulate Billy McNeill and come back to Celtic as a manager….
When he comes back to Celtic as part of the aberdeen set up, he’ll be given a tremendous welcome, and its a shame that this season ended the way it did, and in years to come we’ll have to take into account the strange circumstances, circumstances that should not lesson the memories left behind by a true Celtic great.
In other news, Celtic are expected to announce Eddie Howe tomorrow, presumably so as to not take any of the spotlight from Browns last game at Celtic Park.
As one life finishes, another one starts, and if it is the case that the new manager is announced tomorrow, then he certainly seems keen.
No. I said keen. Meaning enthusiastic.
The new guy is enthusiastic…and how !
Out with the old, and in with the new.
Maybe that idea will catch on in the boardroom as well.
Here’s an idea that our board are doubtless considering….
It has been one incredible season for #RangersFC.
Supporters and players will be able to come together virtually on Monday 17 May for the 2021 Player of the Year awards. Click below to vote now and purchase a virtual pass to view the event live on RangersTV
Season tickets bought for a season I’ve not had 1 seat. Had to pay for Galatasary match. Sign up for MyGers And you now expect me to pay £7.99 for a player of the year award. Disgusting treatment of season ticket holders
The fans demanded the removal of Parks of Hamilton and the board has listened, I present our new team bus.
A brand new batch of loan players arrive at Celtic Park in readiness to fight for second place in season 21/22
Thank You Scott Brown. I watched you when you first started playing for Hibs, a brash young talented player, full of energy, drive and courage. I was delighted when WGS brought you to play for Celtic, the best £4.4 million pounds we have spent, it was paid back in spades. We thank you for the loyalty that you have given us, your bravery and experience on and off the field of play, howe you represented the Celtic support and stood up for us. (how will never ever be spelt that way again – hopefully) Who could ever forget that magical Handes Hoch in front of the scrotum Diof. We wish you nothing but the best in the future, one things for certain, you will never be a sheep (meh). If only our custodians had a 10th. of your bravery… # Hand Clap For The Broony.
Great comment Mike, Mhen like Broony are few and far between.
Thank’s TicToc, any more of this and I’ll be asking yer Da fur yur haund. 😉
I generally just try to be fair but I’m sure you know I’ve more than one ‘facet’. If you asked ma da’ for ma “haund” (if he was still with us) he’d probably have considered your ‘kind’ offer as long as it was in writing and signed Michaela! Just to give you an idea. A long time ago there was a vote in Parliament allowing a certain age of consent to be reduced from 21 to 18 which was passed. On hearing of this my Dad said “I’m getting to fukk out of here before they make it compulsory!” 🙂 RIP, Dad. RIP Celtic FC who’ve been shot down by the Board once too often, the bastards!

Great display for Palestine only for the suits to take it down.
Fuck the board.
Caption. Open top bus cancelled as you wished Peter we got this for Broony plus a pizza.
…and 3/1 favourite Ford Kiernan.
Celts played well tonight. Montgomery, with good coaching could be good, Welsh did well, Turnbull was excellent. Got to say Christie made the right kind of effort tonight. Others tried. Edouard was also on the pitch. Typical amateurish handover for the interview with Scott Brown at the end. So long and thanks for the memories Scott.
…and 4/1 favourite Alan Carr
The van is filled with unemployed Irishmen ..?
Not sure, orangemen from Belfast? HH!
Fuck the board

Broony packs his medals and trophies for transport to Aberdeen …
When the ‘basket of assets’ went through the transparency and translucency test, Charles Green became Jack Nicholson’s the “Joker”, there was nothing remotely funny about it though, he picked up the assets extremely cheaply for £5.5 million, all approved by the clowns at Duff and Phelps. The D@P two might have won millions from the Scottish taxpayer, as will Green and others. BDO are now at long last still taking them through the court ringer, claiming that the ‘basket of assets’ were worth much more, at least £80.00 million. Imagine winning some millions, only to have many more millions taken from you. Shame that. Only ghosts are fully transparent and translucent, seems quite appropriate. Woohoooo. Celebrate 2012 with a new Minty Brit Coin, on one side is the picture of Casper the ghost, on the other is a picture of oblivion.
I utterly detested Duff and Phelps, I can never forgive them or Hun-Co for the way that they tried to sign off the Daniel Cousins signing when they went into administration. They had it signed off with the SFA (cheats) and the SPL (cheaters) even though they were not allowed to sign any new players, but get this, they said it was one hour before Hun Co went into administration, Cousin was actually training at Murray Park. “One Hour From Administration” utter rubbish and it took TWO weeks to sign off Cadette’s registration. The SFA and their Hun chums and the SPL Donkey Doncaster “Pals for life”, they would do anything including giving them CPR to stay alive. Scottish footballs an effing joke. Administered by and for “The Clique”…..
Great gif wae the dugs but Chairman Mao?!
Is Ralph morphing to Maoph?
Who took the decision to remove the flags from the North Curve ? What one person?
The old or the new CEO (and are we paying for them both just now) ?
A massive own goal… and the statement ! A gulf of a disconnect from a totally discredited board.

Suffuse mysteries of the Scottish media:
Why was it so that Slippy G`s hubcap was not mounted on a house brick?
Dominic McKay? Be better off with Fulton Mckay.
Then we might finally sign Steven Flethcheeeeer.
Taxi for me.
We support the Celtic,
The Timmalloy’s, cos,
We’ll never be mastered,
By any Orange B-astard.
We’ll keep the Green Flag Flying High,
So, bring on yer Hearts, yer Heart’s and Hibs And
Rangers, Oops,
too late, they are Donald Ducked,
Broony breid deid.
But, its getting harder to support – the Celtic. It’s more difficult to get off, the back of the bus. Especially when the team plays like Casper and plays more ethe’rial, like somewhere else. When our so called leaders, do SFA and fail to lead, to treat you with disdain, like a child who cannot be trusted. “Stand Still Timmy” and hand over your dough, the robbing b-astards, ‘whit fur’? cos we demand it. Not supporters anymore, just customers, customers that don’t get the benefit of any special offers, the thing is, customers are protected by the Customer Consumer Act, but you only get 30 days to complain. So next time the team play’s mince…. get in there.
Not another Wagyu tale …
I think that the Celtic supporters are astute enough to know where the problems lie. Though temporary form is not how I would describe the teams performance this season. Never qualified for the CL qualifiers, never progressed in the Europa league, lost the League, never won the Scottish cup, never won the League cup. All of this despite by far being the richest club in Scotland. This was not down to temporary loss of form. “No, the problem is the Board and the PLC treat you like someone buying a pound of mince”. That is exactly what I said, being treated like customers and not supporters.
Tommy Burns, a supporter who got lucky. I disagree with you Tommy, because we were the ones ‘who got lucky’. “We love you Tommy, oh yes we do.”
Bobby Murdoch, when he played Celtic played. Bobby and Tommy plus Tommy Gemmell, were the three Celtic players closest to my heart, add Jock Stein to that list. “For the the Bhoy’s we do adore”. RIP.
