Celtic Diary Tuesday January 19: Too Little, Too Late

Neil Lennon returned to the public eye yesterday, and told it like it is.

Or showed us he’s finally lost the plot.

It all depends on whether you watched the clips of the interview, or read the transcript.

Some of the clips. alright, all of the clips show a man who has finally had enough of the shit that this country has thrown at him, and he responds accordingly. However, the media just picked out the ones they thought were the funniest and played them .

The transcript, however, reads differently, and although flawed in some aspects, you can;t help but agree with the gist of it.

In full….. with a few bits added on… here is the question and answer session from the press conference.

Question: How has the last week been for you?

Neil Lennon: Interesting watching the media and the fallout and the attacks on the club. I have a question for you Charles, on your show last week you had Andy Walker on live saying our winter training camp was a jolly. Can you explain to me what he meant by that?

Andy Walker is indeed a knob, but it’s hardly fair to single him out.

You can’t go on a public platform and spread lies and insults about my professionalism, my players professionalism. 70 to 80 per cent of the players are teetotal. You know the inference and the innuendo he was making. It wasn’t a stag doo, it wasn’t an 18-30, even though it’s being portrayed like that. We went out there with the best intentions, the lads had one day off. We got into Dubai at 7 in the morning and were entitled to a bit of down time.

It’s not as if we did the conga in the dressing room dancing to Baccara or doing a train journey from London to Glasgow while having Covid.

He’s not wrong, but whoever organised and agreed to the trip did not look at the possibility, and it was always going to happen, that the media would pounce on any indiscretions, preceived or real, and as a consequence, the government would be under pressure to comment.

I think we’ve been harshly treated. I would apologise to our supporters for the fallout, it shouldn’t have been Peter who had to do it, it should have been me. It was my decision, along with the backroom team, medical staff and sports scientists to go with the best intentions for the benefit of the team going forward for the second half of the season.

Again, not one of those involved considered all of the implications of the trip, especially given that the Ibrox entity stayed home, indeed, one might even ponder the possibility they saw this coming….

Unfortunately it’s not worked out that way, we’ve had one positive test but that shows our protocols were very good out of a group of 60 odd people.

One is too many,

I think the fallout from this has bene way too much and a bit of bullying going on and we’ve been held to a far higher standard than any other club.

Society in general has forgotten how to stand up to bullies, it;s why we have Trump , well, had, and Johnson.

It’s also how he ended up with the return of the Old Firm.

What I want is for you to go speak to Andy and for Andy to apologise because he was demanding apologies from the club. I want an apology from Andy because he is questioning my professional integrity, my players professional integrity and the use of the word term ‘jolly’ is quite crass and arrogant.

He accused the club of being arrogant, we weren’t. We had no intention of being arrogant or rubbing it in anyone’s faces. We went out to do a good week’s work and get a volume of work we wouldn’t have got here in Scotland. Until then, you won’t be getting anything from me or my players.

Who is Andy speaking for then? Does he speak for the Celtic support? Is he all of a sudden a man of the people? Challenging the club’s social ethos. Andy has been in the game here for 20/30 years and he’s made no contribution to Celtic whatsoever.

I’m not sure he’s in a position, he stood up there as if he was a Celtic legend and a stalwart of the club, putting the boot into me, the club and everyone involved and I think he’s totally out of order.

Who is speaking for?

He’s on your platform.

His opinion is false and it’s insulting.

A simple message would have been more effective, like a t shirt that said “Andy Walker is a knob “. instead, we have a petulant sounding, and certainly interpreted as , rant about a former player who never says anything nice about Celtic anyway.

And frankly, no one gives a shit what Walker thinks.

Peter apologised on behalf of the club last week and you felt you should have been in a position, when you look back over the last week or so is this a point where the stuff off the pitch has taken the headlines? A couple of draws and a loss to Rangers, has this overshadowed it?

There seems to be some sort of agenda being driven here. We played very well at Ibrox and didn’t deserve to lose the game. We were the better team. We’ve come back and been absolutely decimated by these rules. I’m not convinced they’re a public health issue, it seems political in my opinion. Nobody has got Covid. Our protocols were perfect. We’ve been decimated the last two games.

The players have done all they can, the ones who have been left behind to play the games. Could have played a little bit better in both the games but considering some of them hadn’t played in a year and we had some young boys out there doing a man’s job, to come away with two points we’ll have to take it.

We’re very motivated, it’s great to see all the players so we want to go on a run now and put in the type of performances we put in towards the end of December.

This is the only time he mentions Ibrox, or the club /company that plays out of there.

Do you feel you have a chance of turning this situation around?

Of course. The league may be beyond us but we’ll not stop trying. What we have to do is start winning games on a consistent and regular basis.

Again, far better to say we’ll keep fighting and are conceding nothing.

Is everyone back for Wednesday and have they been tested?

Yes. All been tested rigorously. I’ve been tested five or six times myself. We’ve all been tested again today, we get the results back later on but from the lateral flow test this morning, everyone is negative.

They’re not though, as we shall see.

How did you keep in contact?

Just by technology. Obviously you had zoom, you had cameras at the game, cameras in the dressing room as well.

Gavin Strachan is the tech man, he insisits on using zoom even when he’s in the dugout.

Is it worth an apology for what’s happened?

At the end of the day we’ve gone out there with the best of intentions and professional, just as other clubs are doing at the minute. We were out there speaking to the manager of the training complex and he was saying ‘if there’s a circuit break in England, we’ve had some enquiries from English clubs as well’. British athletics were out there, Zenit St Petersburg are out there now, it wasn’t just exclusive to Celtic going out there. Other clubs use the facility as well because it’s world class.

I do regret that we lost 13 players and three very important members of staff but that was out of our control.

It was not out of your control. Going halfway around the world meant that any control you did have was lessened as soon as they got to the airport. And sitting in a metal tube with recycled air for hours, not once, but twice, is going to be at best risky and at worst neglgigent.

Was there a doubt in your mind?

I was just hoping that we’d go out there and get away from the pressure a little bit, get some warm weather, train, get them refreshed like we have done many many times before and get a positive impact when we come back. Always in the back of your mind there’s a worry someone might pick it up but you don’t imagine you’re going to lose 13 players and three staff because one player has picked it up somewhere.

There we are. No consideration was given to the possibility -or the consequences-of someone contracting covid.

When you come back and the whole thing explodes, do you feel in some ways has it created this madness but it’s also hampered your chances of sitting down with Peter and saying ‘I’ve turned this around’?

I don’t think it’s hampered my position. I’ve had chats with Peter on a daily basis. We feel we’ve been held to a higher standard than other clubs. There’s outbreaks across the country, Aston Villa shut down, Raith Rovers. They haven’t travelled anywhere. We could have maybe stayed here and had an outbreak but because our protocols have been so good, we’ve been able to quell that.

In terms of the trip itself, we felt really good on the way back. We felt we had a good week, quality of work physically and mentally really good coming back for the second half of the season. But this thing has taken off and we’ve been shot at from all sides rightly or wrongly. You all have your own opinions professional or morally but right from when this was first mooted, I thought it would be the best thing to do at the time.

He has a point, but none of the other clubs mentioned went to dubai.

More politically motivated

I’m not getting into a fight with the government but I’ll leave it out there. Sorry just to clarify there, Iain has just told me that we’ve had one other person who has been deemed positive. So we’ve had two out of the whole 60. The person would rather remain private.

As should the news have. Whoever Iain is, there’s a toe with his arses name on it.

Discussions with Peter, do you feel Peter has said to you you’re the man?

He’s not said that, no, but I don’t think he needs to either. My job is to carry on and get the best out of the team. It was only a month ago we won the treble but now there’s a bloodlust for me to lose my job. There has been for quite a while but that’s the nature of being a football manager in this day and age.

Living in a bubble may well have given him the impression that fans weren;t after his head, but Dubai isn;t the sole reason for that, or even the main reason.

Is it another player?

Yes.

You’ve talked about the protocols being perfect, would you concede they’ve not all been around the poolside and at the bar?

We were in our bubble. The players were sitting in a bar, they weren’t on top of one another. We were outside having a beer in our bubble for half an hour. This is being made out to be something it’s not. We weren’t doing a 20 man conga which was lauded by all and sundry because Scotland qualified for the Euros. Our players weren’t behaving like that at all. 80 per cent of them are teetotal so for anyone to call it a jolly is totally disrespectful to the professionalism and the way they conduct theirselves as men.

For me there was nothing wrong with the photographs, and by the way it’s illegal to take a photographs in Dubai without someone’s consent. However we weren’t hiding anything, we weren’t up to anything, we were out there sitting there on our day off having travelled all through the night. Again, that’s our problem and not anyone else’s, but it’s impossible to do any training the next day, so they were given some down time like they all were. This has been a stick to beat us with these photographs and it’s completely preposterous.

We should have expected it, sorry, he should have expected it. He’s not naive, and he knows how our media works.

There should have been 2m social distancing, John Kennedy slip ups

Not everything was perfect but show me anyone who is doing the right things. For example, when we played Hibs we had to bus six players in two buses because we were told now that is the way it has to be. Three people on a 52 seater bus. That has not been going on throughout the season.

We have been going to away grounds where we are cramped in like sardines. Boxing Day at Hamilton there was no social distancing there, there was no physical distancing. It is inconsistent. Protocols of different clubs are inconsistent. We go to St Johnstone all crammed into a little dressing room. Inconsistent.

As soon as Celtic are deemed to do something wrong then bang. You are all wanting blood. It is absolutely scandalous.

He’s clearly feeling the pressure, and we had a wee insight there into matchday arrangements, and lets be honest, whats the point of social distancing in the dressing room if players are going to be in close contact during a game ?

It’s not so much a bloodlust

That’s your opinion? Not from where I’m sitting.

The chief exec has already apologised and you’ve said it’s warranted

I’m only apologising because unfortunately we had one player pick it up. We have to look at that and see what happened. My apology is to the fans because 13 players and 3 staff had to isolate for 10 days which is ludicrous. I’m not apologising for anything else. I’m not apologising for going out there and training for a week. I’m not apologising for the players having a day off.

His stubbornness is as legendary as it is damaging.

Is there an apology due to a wider section than just the clubs fans?

To who?

To other clubs, to the population at large who had to stay behind here, to any reputational damage it’s done in the eyes of the government?

What reputational damage has it done? Compared to Raith Rovers, compared to Hamilton, compared to Kilmarnock, compared to Motherwell, compared to Aberdeen? What damage has it done?

And here he could have really gone out with a bang. Here he could have become a legend…reputational damge to the game.

Tax dodging, liquidation due to non payment of taxes, convicted fraudster and assorted crooks running a club, collusion and corruption, and we’ve “damaged the reputation of the game  ” ?

Fuck Off Wallpapers - Wallpaper Cave

Well the first minister and her deputy have said the trip shouldn’t happen?

Why didn’t they stop us from going then? We flew out on the Saturday, the country went into full lockdown on the Monday. You can’t tell me the government didn’t know that we were going into full lockdown before we flew out on the Saturday?

I can understand why he feels they Celtic have been set up. Of course they would have known they were going to lock down. Why did they not tell Celtic this, although in fairness, it wasn;t exactly a secret.

Again, all down to not thinking through the decision to go.

Was the risk going to outweigh the reward?

That’s alright in hindsight. At the time we felt it was worth it. You sit there pontificating to me like the rest of you all are. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. We did everything we possibly could do avoid any damage. But like I say, we’ve been held to a higher standard. There’s no leniency at all. We sent pictures of the plane, pictures of the bus, everything social distancing but it appears it wasn’t good enough for some government officials.

In terms of the review of your position, has it happened?

You need to ask the board that.

Reports you are to continue until the end of the season?

Well that’s great news for me then isn’t it.

He sounds delighted.

That’s not correct, you’ve not heard that?

No.

Is the positive test from someone self-isolating?

It’s from someone self-isolating.

Are you disputing that you should have been without that many players?

Yes.

On the plane they were saying you had to isolate if you were two seats forward or two seats back, which wasn’t the case. We were told it was three metres.

Is it inaccurate?

I disagree with and I’m not convinced that was what we were led to believe. On the buses, the way we’ve been travelling and the way every team has been travelling up and down the country, now – the way the government has set out the protocols since we’ve come back, you can only have three on the bus out of a 52 seater.

We played Hibs and we had six players who couldn’t drive so we had to bus them. We couldn’t put all six on one bus. We had to get two busses to take six players. That would have meant in Dubai, we would needed 20 buses. If that’s the case, every team in the country is breaking protocols.

Thats because on of the players has the plague. And others have been near him. And others have been near them.

You feel as if the goalposts are moved?

100 percent.

Is there an issue with the guidelines?

We followed the protocols and it’s backfired on us, we’ve been punished for following the protocols so for me they’re a complete waste of time.

Again, he could have mentioned incidents at other clubs, but didn’t.

From this new positive, any worry of self-isolating?

Everyone is negative. The whole squad is negative, bar two players. That’s remarkable, and it totally blows out the water the way the trip has been portrayed in certain quarters of the media, by certain pundits and by certain government officials as well. We did not abuse any ‘privilege’, we did the right things, we were totally professional. We had a little drink in the afternoon on a day off, completely allowed, no law breaking. It we come back to this barrage of absolute hypocrisy.”

Speaking of hypocrisy….Lawwell and Lennon have allowed our club to be bullied for so long now that its become the norm.

Referees, other officials, media personalities and pundits have said what they want when they want to about Celtic.

Very little of it has been complimetary.

Lennon is right about what he says, to an extent, especially the bit about the government not warning Celtic about even the possibility of a full lockdown while they were away.

But sometimes we have to admit we got it wrong, and we did.

Not only with the trip, but longer term in allowing such scandals as the one associated with Resolution 12, the constant manipulation of the flow of matches by referees, and most importantly, the re-writing of history where a now defunct club are concerned.

If they continue to be allowed to get away with that, in the public eye, whilst more or less trading whilst insolvent, then our board isn’t doing its job.

Hypocrisy will always be a part of what Celtic has to face, and it has to be faced head on, but I fear its too late for this board, and too late for this manager.

They have lost our trust, and for that they can ony blame  themselves.

Which, of course, does not make Andy Walker any less of a knob.

Just to clarify.

Celtic have made an arse of it for sure this year, but letting our guard down gives the media, government and all those in the shadows a golden opportunity to put the boot in. Our lack of fight and acceptance of the constant bias and cheating has come home to roost.

Many of the points Lennon raised were correct. But he is the manager. The board and the CEO should be taking the lead as in any large organisation. For years the media lead by the Daily Wanker and the Billy Boys Club have had it in for Celtic. But the CEO accepts and moves on. If you do not challenge your critics they will continue piling on more crap. Agree with too little too late comment. The club should have a clear out of the clowns in the media, true Celtic fans can source information from other sources.
The bus situation is ludicrous and obviously trying to upset the players. As seen on Sunday an offside goal literally excused by our unbiased media. Total avoidance of the taxpayer having o pay out 21 million to cover Two Duff and Phelps lawyers grievances. No mention of Ashley and the ongoing court case, but the tea lady drops a pot at Celtic front page news. Now is the time for supporters to keep their pennies and refuse to buy these toilet wipe papers, or put up with the BBC a unionist mouthpiece
Yes Lennyy has lost it as a manager. Going to Dubai was an error, but he said it as it is yesterday, a true Celtic man

Reading the whole transcript definitely puts a different perspective on the snippets shown on social media. Whilst it is good to see him calling out these injustices unfortunately it all feels somewhat too little too late and as a result it comes off as more of a rant than anything else. If the club had stood up against all the other injustices over the years then there would have been much more weight behind this but we have just left ourselves wide open for these kind of things.

I still think the Dubai trip was a terrible misjudgment and should never have taken place though. It also seems that some of the narrative is shifting towards the fans turning on Lennon because of that trip, when the reality is that the results have been awful for months and he should have been gone after the drubbing by Prague at home. 6 wins in the last 20 games way past not good enough.

Well said, as best you could, Neil Lennon. If only others at the club had the same balls to take these ‘peepul’ on.
No forensic investigation and questioning on the dynamic duo partying from the Klan.

Wanted : 1 Horse recently bolted.

The first sacking at Celtic should be the PR or Comms department. If they exist.
To allow such a shit show to happen over a 2 week period is unacceptable.
From going on the trip, to those images, to Jullien in airport, to Lawwells faux apology, to Lennys rant and then another player positive. Absolute PR disaster.

Lenny may have many valid points there, but they are all reduced to nothing but an angry wee mans rants after the way the Club have acted over last 2 weeks in the publics eye.

We know the media may taint public perception but that is exactly what a good PR team would have did, own the story ( or kill the story!) and ensure we either fought our corner like Lenny, or apologised like Lawwell…not both mixed messaged…utterly shambolic.

The fans have just given up caring what Lenny or Lawwell have to say. Both are done. SImple as that.

Excellent analysis
One point really stands out to me:

“And here he could have really gone out with a bang. Here he could have become a legend…reputational damge to the game.”

Would have loved to see Lenny go the whole hog and call out the real scandals in Scottish football. Would have been really interesting to see how the media in Scotland and beyond reacted. Lenny’s walkout was on BBC Breakfast this morning. Would they have picked up on the biggest story in football?

It’s curious that Lenny stopped short given how enraged he was. This again points to collusion at a higher level.

Going out with a bang? What the sound of a brain exploding? You can’t make valid points when you are having a rant the size of an X-Files box set. I watched and read all of it. Twice. The guy was having a go at everyone and everything. What would have done it for me? I got us here and in the time I have left I’ll do my best to get us out. Better still I’m off and thanks for the memories.

CS, absolutely right on racism being disguised as ‘sectarianism’
Nothing from the club on the disgraceful personal comments on NL in the Glasgow Times, nothing on the not proven assault at Tynecastle. Nothing on the Janefield Street ‘report’. Gutless CEO should have said that rather than his grovelling apology. A Club like no other that is world class in everything we do

Really good work on breaking this down. Great article.

My concern/ criticism of the club is that our off-field message is as incoherent as some of our on-field performances.

1 – Last week stated with a statement that we were working with the Scottish government on contact tracing and we thanked them for all their support.

2- We then had a statement without an apology which basically said ‘we could still have caught it if we stayed and we’ve done nothing wrong’

3 – We then had the CEO apology video – an apology followed by an even longer justification for why we went (in my view this negates the apology but i can see why others take a different view)

4 – We then finish up with that shambles of a press conference yesterday which suggests that the Scottish Gov were working against us and moving the goal posts….with the hint of a ‘bullying’ accusation (why no mention of this previously in any of the other statements/ videos???)
We undo the apology, contradicting the CEO and scatter-gun accusations, vendettas and contradictory statement s(no-one’s got covid….except the two that have covid)

It’s a church hall committee approach to public relations and crisis management not that of a £100m revenue company.
We’re an embarrassment at the moment from top to bottom and we need a complete clean out.

What else can I do right now as an elderly house-bound Celtic supporter except hope our team wins everything left to give us and a new manager some hope for the future. Beating Livvie on their pitch is tough but where we have to start:
Hazard
Frimpong/Ajer/Duffy/Taylor
Soro
Christie McGregor
Turnbull
Edouard/Griffiths
Win big—, Coybig
I’ll leave the big cosmic solutions for later. I just need a short-term fix right now.

Reply to  Devoy45

Ralston played okay on Saturday, at least compared to the rest and he’s probably a better full-back option than Frimpong who played further forward.

I know he’s not a long term solution but needs must and all that.

I can’t see us winning big given the demoralising affect of recent events (and the whole season!).

Any win would be welcome, as we’ve only won away at United out of the top 6.

It should be noted that this was an arranged (not open) Press Conference with only carefully selected journalists (no hostiles, only ‘friends’, which the tone of the questions asked highlight).

Despite that open goal to quietly and diligently put over intelligent points in a calm and reasonable manner, instead our clueless manager scores multiple own goals.

Neither the video or a report are on the official site and you can’t get any more damning than that. The club hierarchy who have defended and backed him through his appalling mismanagement this season, want nothing to do with this (in a rare example of good judgement).

Those trying to defend it, are you serious?

  • He’s querying Public Health info and guidelines during a pandemic
  • Highlighting Scotland conga when we were equally socially un-distant after Cup Final
  • Claiming we did everything right yet have all 4 forwards out not just 2
  • Having a pop at Raith, Hamilton and St Johnstone, who are probably doing everything they can
  • Obviously doesn’t have a go at der Hun, as he knows the game

It was completely wretched and even worse than his on-field mismanagement and has rightly gone down like a lead balloon with almost everyone, including (hopefully) the majority of Celtic fans.

It was crude arse-covering to deflect from his glaring personal failings and nothing to do with highlighting issues, which could be done at any time.

“Iain” is Iain Jamieson, our PR guru, who gets a lot of stick, not least for being a Jambo but not sure how that’s relevant.

Our problems are totally to do with disastrous football and corporate mismanagement.

Do we really want a slick PR operations that successfully covers up for that and hence it continues unchecked?

Neil Lennon has every right to defend himself & the club if he feels he & the club are being portrayed in a poor light.
Firstly i think the trip to Dubai was ill thought, poorly timed & overall just a poor decision.
Those are my own opinions, however where i agree with Neil is that the club is being singled out & it’s been getting singled out for years, never mind fvcking Dubai, the treatment our fans get at away grounds by Police Scotland is bullying at it’s finest, been happening for years.
The offensive behaviour at football act, kettling of the fans etc, outrageous.
You know maybe a lot of what Lenny was saying was wrong but a lot of it was right, i just enjoyed seeing someone/anyone from Celtic showing some fkn fight.

Neil is going to go soon i believe, don’t go quietly Neil!

Walker the soup taker, earning his large salary calling Celtic dismal and arrogant going on a jolly to Dubai, then guesses at how much we spent staying at 5* Hotels costing hundreds of thousands of pounds. Clearly Walker The Knob doesn’t do irony, like many of his soup taking friends having played for the club that gave him fame and paid his wages. Oh, we know them all, their names are embedded on our skin like a tattoo of a rat. Still getting his largess salary while he decries our club, slurping away as he stabs us in the back, he is the one who personalised it, Lennon was right to respond to the pr!ck. But we lost the moral high ground when Lawwell positioned the club beside the Huns, this latest manifestation is systematic of a club that chose the wrong path. We will only get the club back when they all start acting honestly.

Where was the investigation into the Scotland squads Conga celebrations?
Where was the investigation into the huns Arfield party?
Where was the investigation into Alex Salmond when he ” had a word with the HMRC ” whilst the huns cheated their way to stolen titles & prize money?
Where is the investigation into the huns still not paying their taxes, even this season?

Yes, yes i know we have to look inwards first.
Neil didn’t go far enough for me, he should have read out the entire EBT list, demanded the trophies be withheld & all prize money awarded to them returned.

This is what happens when the current incumbents within the Celtic Boardroom are more than happy to dine with the devil and have encouraged the abuses that we see all too often.
Whilst dining with the devil, the board members are believed to consume gallons upon gallons of soup. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Baxters plastered across the hoops in the not too distant future. These dear Tims are the real rat bastards that need to be chased.

And what’s the gig with 1 (cough, whisper stage left) 2 players positive? Biton, Eddie and Elhamed have all had it. That’s 5 out of 60 (that I recall) which is honking FFS!

This talk of the club leaving itself wide open.

Its wide open all the time no matter what. If they
handed food parcels out to everyone in Scotland they would be accused of trying to spread the coronavirus.

Its no use complaining about the club rolling over at every cut and turn if theres going to even more complaints when someone in authority
actually does tell some home truths.

I dont agree with Lennon keeping his manager`s job but I certainly agree with everything he said.

Does it really matter what the sectarian bigots in the rags in Scotland or their double number readership thinks?

Reply to  Cole Burns

Really, do you have any evidence to back him up?

St Johnstone have come out with a robust defence that suggests he’s talking bollocks concerning them.

Christie was interviewed on Sky today. Another bollocks.

The club haven’t loaded the video nor a report of the conference.

Sounds like they’ve made their judgement on ‘everything he said’ and it doesn’t suggest backing.

You don’t have to wonder about Scottish footballs double standards, we read about it every day. The MSM repeat and rinse the truth about the club from Govan. We know that their club died in 2012, but so does every club in Scottish football because most of the SPL contributed in some way to the secret 5Way Agreement, they had a committee meeting to discuss Hun-cos rebirth. The tragedy is that our own Celtic Board were complicit in a big way, they had to be, it would have never passed without our boards consent. But what would have happened if it was Celtic that was liquidated, we nearly went bankrupt in 1994, but good Celtic men pulled together to avoid that. The soup takers of past Celtic players would have enjoyed that as much as their friends in the Klan press. Celtic’s band of soup takers and the serpents in the Celtic boardroom, we don’t have to look far to spot the frauds.
It seems as supporters we live in suspended animation waiting patiently to be set free…..

You know that you would just love that (00) eyes on the prize 😉 How quick we forget, Sky with its translate – gate, when the simpleton’s words were twisted, how quickly the fud let them back in. If they had done that in big Jocks time, he would have “Jim McLeaned” them and forever banned them, they should be nowhere near Celtic park. I gave them up years ago, they and the EBT- BBC both with their Hun propaganda and agenda. Walker standing high over Celtic park, skewering the club, don’t you just hate that, him and his ilk… Anyway back to work as you lie snoring in your sack dreaming about me in my suspenders and my hairy legs, chimp like, you just had to tell everyone eh?

Poor defending for both Livi goals, especially the first where the boy in acres of space was given a free header. The red card may have been a wee bit harsh but sheer stupidity from Broonie all the same to take out a player in an off the ball incident. The shitshow rolls on.

The team is shite simple as.
A back 4 that has no fight. The loss of Lustig was huge.
The midfielders like Christie can ho anytime I fail to see what he brings an odd goal here or there.
Greedy most other times.
Brown was shocking we have the ball ffs no need.
The subs used was terrible again.
Lenny please please go now.
Its over lets build to stop them for next season. They will be flying.

Fuckin sick of the whole fuckin lot of them. Ohh and one player who is greatly missed jamesy forrest you don’t appreciate him till he’s not there.
Lenny please just walk away now.

Massive round of applause to Scott Brown, the club captain, with his team in need of inspiration & erm, a goal, decides to lift his team by throwing a lazy arm into the face of an opponent, getting a red card & a ban.
The game was still there, only takes one slip, one free shot at goal & you leave with the points….but no, much better idea to sell the jerseys than give everything you have until the final whistle?
Clown!

I’ve defended Neil Lennon until i can’t possibly any longer, a man i care deeply about & have fought his cause over many years, no longer.
Neil you are not delivering results, the team is not fit, you have spoken of the culture being changed, players wanting away & all the rest of it.
I did not even cheer when we equalised last night, that’s how low i feel, Celtic scored a goal & i didn’t cheer?
This season has been embarrassing, enough is enough Neil.

Livingston players monthly wage bill for 2020 – £27,260.
Celtic players (62) monthly wage bill for 2020 – £2,067,640.
‘Its difficult to keep spending millions of pounds on top class players’.
‘We’ve signed a 4 year deal, but there is a break in January, to see how Du Wei settles in’.
‘You have Brendan Chris Davis and Glen Driscoll who is world class.’
‘More than just a club’? ‘Living Wage, – Would cost £500,000 but most are just part time’.
‘ We want to come out of each transfer window stronger than we went in.’
‘We came out this window with a very strong squad, as a club over the 14 months – July 19 we have spent up to that point £35.00 Million pounds’.

BornCelt!

I feel a wee bit sorry for Lenny, constantly undermined with the running of the team and Lawwell’s sheer inadequacy as a board member whose legacy will be costing us the 10 plus over 250 millions, a sheer fortune, while trying to save a million or two while the players agents smiled and hawked the player elsewhere, then lining agents pockets for lesser players, with constant Euro Champ League money lost including a constantly full Celtic Park. A million pound pitch that seems less than paid for. The failure of a nailed on ten was constant bad decisions from the board and Lenny’s stubborness, a trait hared with Lawwell by opponents using whatever they could get their hands on, but gerrard did constantly kick out those not performing and being organised, which we were not. But Lenny has nowhere else to go, so he will stretch it out. TV pundit or part-time gardener is Lenny’s future, but he must take responcibility, he just was not strong enough with the board. As I have said before, seeing the back of Lawwell is almost as good as seeing the end of rangers. Lenny is now embarrassing himself and holding back a replacement who would have two windows to assess and strengthen the squad. Guess the 60 mins is how we will see Lenny, almost but not quite. HH!

Reply to  BornCelt!

lennon is the architect of his own destruction.

Yes, hopefully we can get rid of the likes of Lawwell but that is independent of lennon.

Only someone as inept as Lawwell would think appointing a failed Bolton and Hibs manager was good enough.

Equally only a failed Bolton and Hibs manager would accept a job where Lawwell calls all the shots and he cravenly supports him totally.

Lets not muddy the water here, if Celtic make the big changes at executive level that we all want then wretched inadequates like lennon will never been in consideration for the manager’s job.

Lawwell and lennon have a mutually assured destruction pact and, if this to Celtic’s extreme detriment, then so be it.

And they call themselves Celtic men. Trouble is, when the ship starts to sink, plug the hole before it is too late to save it. Sickening as it is, they have both earned millions through Celtic and other clubs, so failure has come as a benefit to them leaving us all to tread water while they sail off in yachts. HH!

Reply to  BornCelt!

Yep.

I’ve long given up hope for the 10 but expected changes long before now so we could start to get our act together and start next season with a clean slate.

As it stands change may not come until the summer, which doesn’t give a new management team enough time to assess all the players, get rid of the unwanted and get wanted players in and integrated.

This is especially true of CL qualification, if we manage to heroically hold Aberdeen and Hibs off.

Of course, ST renewal will be coming up in the next few weeks, so will fans’ insistence that they won’t renew hold up or will Keep The Blind Faith win out?
