The happy campers get together to ruminate on Sundays League Cup Final victory over Stevie G’s devastated warriors ( diddums).
The Etims crew consider questions such as
- Did we just out Wattenacio a team called Rangers?
- Did you worry when you heard the Line-Up and/or saw the weather?
- Should Conditions even be a factor ?
- Do you think Rangers played so well we looked bad or were we actually shite?
- Just what were our tactics yesterday? Does Anybody know?
- Have we ever seen Broony and Calmac be so out of a game?
- Is James Forrest needing a rest, competition, both?
- What about Forster though, eh?…just when the hell will he learn how to punt a ball to a man?
- Forster vs Morelos – a more exciting match up than Anthony Joshua and My Blobby Ruiz?
- That Penalty…who held their breaths the longest?
- Frimpong…Oh my days – like a big beaming smiley breath of fresh air in the fog left by Tierney exit!
- Have we ever seen anyone so happy to score for Celtic as Jullien? Seems to really get it!
- What a difference Eddy made!..Made free kick and set up Mikey Johnston! Goldson “Oh fuck”
- Do we need to worry about Griffiths?
- Should we go for Sam Cosgrove in January? Who else could be on radar?
- Atop League, L-Cup winners, Top of EL Group…Happy Campers CSC.. or now time to really step on?
- Dec 29th…Greg Taylor and Bolingoli back fit and available. EL Hamed maybe back too..Hun despair at missing big chance when we were down. 2 hammer blows down..1 to go or can they bouncy bounce back?

Sorry Peeps, I have so much on at the mo, that its difficult to find the time to listen to the podcast, but for me, I was really disappointed in the amount of Celtic players who never showed up and for a cup final against our bitterest enemy. The team seemed so out of sorts, the tactics, the team selection and the timing of the substitutions seemed non existent, very worrying. Clearly there was one outstanding player who “saved” the team. Fraser Foster was out fckn standing, I have never witnessed such a brilliant performance and it was no freak performance. Just look back to the two Lazio games when he was brilliant. So take a bow Fraser, we salute your skill, bravery, talent. B R I L L I A N T.
You wouldn’t fucking hear it anyway ya deef hoor!

When is a hospital a golf course? when Gary McKay Stevens gets p!shed and falls into the river Clyde in 2017, he woke up thinking that he was on the golf course. Gary was a nice laddie, but clearly his brains were still intoxicated.
great podcast bhoys though i thought yon bit aboot lawwells finger up his arse and the coont spendin sum money wis a bit harsh he he
Cold rain outside, warm Etims podcast inside, Tuesday evening. Good work and good fun bhoys. I still think 4-3-3 will help solve Eddy sometimes missing from the team.
Forster
Elhamed/Ajer/Jullien/Boli
Frimpong/Brown/McGregor
Forrest/Rogic/Christie
Who needs a lone striker when you have five guys who can attack and score? Rogic can hold the long ball up. Here’s another thought: Ajer was once a striker. Put Bitton or Elhamed in his place and let him work on his attacking game.6’5″ strikers who can pass and run are pretty rare in the game. We may have one right under our noses!? |He is good with the ball.
Great stuff, all this talk of Cosgrove,,,trust me Shankland, the Bhoy!!!
Cheers. I too am interested in facts and the fact is, a fit Griffiths could really help us now and in future. The ball is in Griff’s court. I still have hope for the wee man. However, I wouldn’t mind a few “facts” about Sinclair, who has always been fit. Surely, Sinclair is a better risk than Morgan?
On his way as is Sinclair and probably rogic
Pretty much what his managers have been saying about him for the past 4 seasons.
Just leave that here for those interested in facts not fiction.
Its becoming a mass distraction.
He’s been a bit-part player for the past 4 seasons.
For the past 18 months we’ve had a need for a high quality, reliable backup for Eddy.
This is now a high priority given Eddy is likely to miss (all/most?) the CL qualifiers.
Anything else is fiddling and we’re in danger of getting burned in the CL qualifiers for the 3rd year running due to self-inflicted damage.
Leigh, I am one of many Celtic fans who still believe in you. You’ll never walk alone. Welcome home…hail, hail.
I see reports that L’pool are interested in signing the Salzburg winger, Minamino, using his release clause of 7.25 million of those depreciating British pounds. Did Sevco not spend around 7 million buying Kent from the Pool? On the irony, that Sevco ate paying for Minamino! Any thoughts on who gets the better value? No contest, I think.
Rebus
No idea why we would risk Jullien in a nothing game.
Strange decision lets hope its injury free for all our bhoys.
We don’t have any other centre backs registered for the Europa league. Only fit cb’s are Ajer, Jullien and the converted Bitton! Hendry wasn’t even on the list. Jullien got a game off last week so it is Ajers’ turn to get a rest tonight.
Glad to see Robertson make his debut and Dembele on the bench – hope he gets 20-30 mins. Griffith to start – give us a good 60 minute performance !!
We need to buy a centre back in January.
I see some thoughts on the January window. Here are a few more based on a mixture of gut and head. There will be little in the way of incoming. The priority is a striker but not an expensive one…..so Shankland or Cosgrove or a loanee. Outlay would be around 2 million. Perhaps Turnbull but most likely not until the summer.
The emphasis will be on outgoings. Sinclair will get another shove. Rogic will go if a half decent offer comes in. If we get a striker, LG will go out on loan. Gordon may go. Kouassi out on loan. Shved back to the Ukraine on loan.
The focus will be on conserving cash for tge summer acquisition of Foster and/or Elyanoussi.
You heard it here first, but do not believe any of it!
Rebus
Agree with shankland Aberdeen never going to loan out Cosgrove that’s their season gone
Ian,
I was not suggesting Cosgrove would be a loan. If he comes, it would be a purchase. Yes, it would be difficult to get him, as it would Shankland. Players would have to go the other way on loan. Grif and/or Acheson, if he can be recalled may be loaned plus a fee for either Shankland or Cosgrove.
Rebus
I fear that you may be right but that’s not what’s required.
We desperately need the next in line top class striker after, first, Dembele and now Eddy.
The latter will (largely) miss the CL qualifiers and may well even be sold, so we need his successor in January so that he can familiarise himself with the team and vice versa and, obviously, provide a high quality backup when Eddy is unavailable.
Such a player will be worth a serious wedge (up to £10m, although hopefully, it doesn’t cost that much).
To not do so will be risking not qualifying for the CL Group stage for the 3rd year running.
The likes of Shankland, Cosgrove etc are nowhere near the quality required.
The problem with Griffiths is his reliability not his ability, is he on his way back or will this prove to be another false dawn?
I’m not sure about a loan, as although presume he’d be in the team at the likes of Hibs or Aberdeen, that doesn’t help us if he’s going to be the number 1 for the qualifiers, as the familiarity with the other players will be lost.
On the flip side, will he get enough game time, as Eddy’s deputy to sharpen up?
Mikey Johnston playing well. The rest of the team ok
Young Robertson playing as if he has been in the side for years – very impressed>
Think Jullien is a class class player. A steal at 7 million gotta watch the yellow card though.
Just switched over to Lazio game. What great fans Rennes have full stadium nothing to play for not many clubs around Europe would do the same even us.
2-0 wee dembele to come on
We’ve seen tonight why Lenny hasn’t had an inkling to play Sinclair!!
Griff to Hibs on loan Bayo to raith rovers
lance on loan tae bers den
He was ok given the service yeah. His head isn’t there. It’s gone I don’t think Lenny wants to persevere with him. He’d have given him minutes instead of the clueless Morgan on Sunday. He’d have done a better job. Bayo is fkn useless. Griffs days are numbered at Celtic. So are Sinclairs
Players have a psychological shelf life at clubs. You keep knocking them down like Rodgers did to griff then it doesn’t matter how strong minded they are their faces are made not to fit. I feel sorry for griff. I believe his breakdown came about from Rodgers rejection
Ntcham and Bitton the only real first team hopefuls out there apart from Ajer and Jullien. Gordon could’ve cut that pass out for their second goal. He’s done young Dembele not ready too lightweight. Think Mikey Johnston could be a superstar in the making.
Charlie,
Griff has already had game time playing with Forrest and, at least Christie, if not also Elyanoussi. However, I agree with your general point, last night was not the time to judge any of those on the park, except of course, Boli!
Maybe, just maybe, Boli needs to play further forward with less defensive responsibilities. He has a good engine, is fast, and has good ball control. It is his football brain that is the issue. Ach, probably it is a waste of time!
Rebus
bbc Scotland are dyin for more or less to score , slippy is a tremendous manager . ohh and more or less is diving as usual , and cant find a way by the keeper. same old …..
It was all about getting minutes into players legs nothing more than a run out. What it told us though Boli Bayo have to be removed from the European squad simply not good enough.
Jimmy,
I agree on Boli. His decision making is atrocious. He tries the impossible by pushing the ball into an area where there are two or more defenders. His positioning is poor as well. He will cost goals. On the other hand, he is very athletic and fast but the bad outweighs the good, I am afraid.
Rebus
lol now the talk is of course around more or less , and how he is a raw talent like Rod Wallace , ! and not a cultered finisher like Michael mols ….ma ears are bleeding
https://youtu.be/gE6jAegQzmI
Charlie,
I agree with most of that, however, I only watched the first 30 minutes. Over that period you were too harsh on Julien and Ntcham. The latter kept the ball moving and the former cleared his lines.Yes, transitioning out of defence was a problem but we had no players up front to hold the ball up. How long will it take before the manager sees that?
On Boli..in summary, a waste of money. If he plays regularly, it will be proof that NL does not know what he is doing.
I fear for Johnston. He is getting moved from position to position. He is not ready yet for through the middle but if handled properly he will be.
No comment on Griff…time will tell.
Robertson looked tidy without being exceptional but he deserves another chance.
Morgan…oh dear! Poor decision making, poor touch, not first team material.
Sinclair? this was not his type of game. Three wingers playing as your forward line, no wonder we did not threaten…just as we did not last Sunday.

am no wan for tellin any coont how tae vote but heers a song fur a tim
Griff showed last night how a forward should move on and off the ball and how to play with back to the goal. His fitness looked pretty good and he defended well. He is our most natural striker and he should be on the bench to sub for Eddy in all our games coming up. Griff is a natural and will yet play a key part in our team. No loans please, just get him game time and fitness. Last night’s game means nothing otherwise was a valuable experience for
our younger players.
Was good to see him on the park, hopefully he can get back to what he does!
Embarrassed to have voted Labour yesterday, what the fuck has happened to this Party?
Hi Devoy,
Not sure about Griff being what we need. Without Eddy we have no out ball…nobody to hold the ball up. With or without Griff we also have little aerial ability in the box. Both of these aspects will make it difficult for us to finish off opponents early in the SPL games, and inhibit our progress in the Europa.
I think we are one good signing away from having a very competitive team. That signing should be a robust striker. Ideally, one that is good in the air and can score. However, such beasts are expensive so I would settle for one that is good in the air.
Young Boys brought on a big striker vs Sevco and he caused all kinds of bother. They are out there. Hopefully our new recruitment system has isolated a few.
In the last section of the Sevco game, Young Boys attacked their defence and they looked a very ordinary team. They survived with a draw but that final period revealed how to play against them.

From the Celtic Star:
Lennon Praises ‘Unbelievable’ Ntcham and Robertson’s Debut Stats
“To give him the captaincy and then for him to take on the responsibility the way he did was excellent.
I thought his all-round game tonight was absolutely top class.”
Seems a tad over the top but I’m sure those who hang on the manager’s every word will vehemently agree. 😉
Cha,
I hope that these remarks were aimed at the players rather than the fan base. Let’s believe that he was encouraging both players rather than analysing their impact on the game.
Rebus
Agreed.
It’s the managers job to lift his players, Neil does tgis well.
My wee girl has just pickled my heed…..i was just about to spread Lurpak on her toast when she said ” Dad, the toast is upside down “?????
Shut yer puss 🙂
Days of left wing leaders in Northern Europe are finished can’t believe you’ve used Corbyn as a spearhead. Labour Party in Scotland especially is finished. Sanders Corbyn are dinosaurs of Marxism.
Need a Harold Wilson a guy with substance. I like Corbyn but we’ve callously turned our backs on social justice. Poverty will get worse during a Brexit transition
Even if Labour had won all 59 seats in Scotland, they would still be over 100 behind the Tories. It’s ‘Engerland wot wun it’ for Bozo. We have to get out of the UK madhouse before it’s too late.
