The Case for Marcelo Bielsa Podcast

Hector, Ralph and Desi get together to discuss the main talking points of the recent Celtic days

We bid farewell to the most humble and inspiring of strikers, Stevie Chalmers RIP

We salute the class win to seal the title at Pittodrie and salute the Championees

We discuss how important or unimportant Sundays game really is. It apparently does matter ( who knew?)

We ignore the new strip altogether so sorry about that one.

Most of all though, we discuss the Manager position with Lenny in interim position. Hear us discuss various names such as Mourinho, Moyes and as more and more get thrown in the ring  rejoice as Hector leads Desi on a Road to Damascus conversion.

Listen to how Hector skillfully sells the idea of “El Loco” aka “The Professor of Football” Marcelo Bielsa departing Leeds and bringing his football maverick madness to Parkhead. You too will be convinced…or your money back! (see P Lawwell, Glasgow East End)

Lets all get aboard the Bielsa Bus!

Well I enjoyed that, thoughts from podcast:

Stevie Chalmers RIP. BIG family man, like the rest of the Lions, he was humble and unassuming, far from the limelight which he never sought, his family were hugely important to him. We all go on about THAT goal but his striking prowess was there for all to see in the stats. Elegant, strong of character with the deftest of touch, subtle and sublime, Stevie Chalmers will always be a Celtic LEGEND.
The next Celtic Manager: To me Lenny looks anguished, red eyed and under pressure, he follows a top class manager who if his loyalty to the cause is in question, his talent’s will never be, extremely thorough in the detail’s of football, his ability is proven, he brought Celtic great success and a pot of gold, leaving us in perhaps the strongest financial position we have ever ben. Celtic have a previous history of appointing new managers from left field. Doctor Joe, Wim Jansen, Ronny Delia, are all prime examples, so the next manager could be a big surprise like Jack Ross, Alex Neil, Frank Lampard, anyone really, me, I’m still greeting that it will not be Marco Rose, who I thought would be a perfect fit. The great E-Tims Triumpherate, Celtic Da. (Faither) Hector (Son) Ralph Malph how yeh doing mate (The Holy Most)…

Quell Surprise, I could go into the details of your post but I canny be arsed. Lets look at Lenny’s record, promoted from first team post to manager, he did extremely well, no question about that. He left, many including myself and including him, thought that he would be a target for other managership roles, none came, the only club that did, were skint and desperate, he left after finding out that he had been made false promises. Eventually he turned up at Hibs. His record was good, making a difference, but much the same as Higginbottom the currant manager. Me, I want the best manager that we can afford, someone with something to prove, someone with a good previous record in higher leagues. I want Celtic to show ambition, there has never been a better time for a manager to come in, the number of players out of contract, the money is in situ. That time is now, with Lenny as his assistant..

It never bothers me one wee bit when my logic is called into question, our minds should always be open to new thoughts and ideas. If you get three Celtic supporters in one podcast you’le get three different opinions, the faither, son and the holy most prove that point. What gets on my tits is the one mantra on repeat prescriptions, from us all. We all have different thoughts on who the next manager should be, but like you say it matters not, because we cannot influence who it will be. The bit I like is the nutters who think that they can influence it by shouting the loudest, pair wee lambs. 😉 <8

I have been reading about the terrible ticket allocations for the two European finals. Outside the fact that one of them is in Baku which last time I did geography was in Asia rather than Europe. This reminded me of the SFA which often tickets terribly in the other way. Gives the opposition to Celtic more allocation than they can actually sell! Equally bad. UEFA is a famously indifferent and some would say corrupt organization hell bent on simply making money. No surprise they are uninterested in Resolution 12 stuff or any other stuff unless their money making is threatened. FIFA, UEFA and SFA three layers of opaqueness and not much chance for an even playing field!

Mike

Broxi, They are all at it, self serving inglorious bastards, the ticket allocations are a disgrace, for UEFA and the SFA. Proven corruption at FIFA where an American member was on the take, like nearly everyone else, but Karma intervened as it allowed the Americans to clear out the corrupt. UEFA are under pressure from the richer clubs to make them even richer, these greedy bastards will bring the game down to the gutter, forcing more and more club supporters to abandon interest in their competitions and the game. The SFA are take their lead from FIFA and UEFA as self serving morons, who only seem interested in the well being of one club. The secret 5way agreement, Res.12 et al prove that there is the smell of corruption within the cartel at Hampden. I cannot wait until the whole pack of cards come tumbling down..

I’m pretty sure that we only got a paltry allocation for Seville (10,000?) and it had been happening for years (decades?) before that but, if it affects “the greatest league in the world”…

Arsenal only took 2,000 to Valencia, so 6,000 for the final is probably realistic, if not optimistic.

They estimated that there was over 80,000 Celtic supporters at Seville, I even met my mothers undertaker…

Broxburn, excellent comment.
Hope you were not offended by the “broxi” thing (not from me) and ‘bear’ no grudges to the accidental commenter.
Corruption has been endemic in football, since WAY back.
Unacceptable now, as then.
Try reading “The Men Who Stole the Game” (or similar) by David Yallop (I think?).
Aye, corruption’s not new, but still fuckin’ intolerable.
WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
On another topic, I watched I, Delours on Netflix last night and was humbled. A family whom stood their ground, AND THEN SOME, and Ghirls (both of those sisters) whose courage should be inspirational for all of us.
Watch it, it’ll teach you about “The History”, which fucking arseholes JUST DO NOT GET.
Gallowgate “charlie”, a man I thought was tops on here, lost ALL credibility by correlating Lawwell “a tim from estates like us” with PROPER Tims.
You’ve been outed as a fookcing wannabee tory. (ADULATION) Similar to others outed on here. Byeeee wont be missed.
In fact, you’ve made a ‘proper charlie’ of yourself.
I’M VERY DISAPPOINTED. The Gallowgate will never be the same again.

Rodgers is a Rat but was an outstanding manager for Celtic.

Broxburnbhoy

Reply to  hector

We would be well advised to avoid hiring another rat only here to advance their case for a job in mid league team in the EPL. No matter how good they are my preference would be for a manager with appropriate competence plus character and integrity. Someone who walks their talk and is prepared to see out contracts and build Celtic into a European team again. This is a long term job. Yes Rogers brought much needed advanced management techniques to Celtic and we did well. Thank you. There are many managers who I think can do that too and would be prepared to stay the course. We have money, we have time and we have the best squad for along time and 10000 on a season ticket waiting list. That has attract some high caliber candidates even with the fact we play in the SPL

I saw it Charlie. I believe that we need a tactician to do anything in Europe. Brendan was a man manager he could make people want to do things they never imagined they would do. Deila was part genius part nut-job, shame the nut cracked at Celtic and the crazy came out. Lennon is a great reader of the game, he IS a tactician and most of our home grown players would run through a wall for him, it’s how he handles the Sinclair’s and Edouard’s of this world that will be closely scrutinized.

Post podcast…I’ve got to say again, in my opinion, ten is no substitute for a five year( or longer) plan for consolidation and improvement in Europe. If Spurs win in Madrid, they wont give a damn for the league this or next year. If Liverpool lose on Sunday, they’ll be gutted but not as much as they would have been without Madrid. Same with the E.L finalists. We are bigger than appointing Neil to get to ten. Where is the plan ?
Better players, better manager, better in Europe.

Which is in contrast to you who hated:

– the Invincible Treble

– the Double Treble
– the prospect of the Treble Treble up until recently
– regular punishment beatings administered to der Hun
– emergence of superb quality strikers Dembele and Eddy

Any brave souls on this Forum going to Mordor tomorrow?
If so, keep safe and sing your hearts out. Wish I was there!
We need pace and power tomorrow.
Bain
Lustig/Ajer/Simunovic/Tierney!
Brown/McGregor
Rogic
Burke—–Forrest
Edouard
Sinclair to come on.
2-1 to the Bhoys.
Burke and Forrest have pace and will pull them out of shape and can get back quickly.
I think many in our lineup have scored against the Huns in the past: Lustig/Brown/McGregor/Rogic/Forrest/Edouard
I’d like Big Eddy to really shine tomorrow.

I am hoping Ralston and Johnston make appearances or start to give them experience in a hostile enviroment. I think KT should be rested and Hayes to start at LB. Devoy – I like the idea of Burke being involved as he is a big lad and fast. His first touch is generally poor and he has no left foot. It will be a helter skelter match and cool heads will be needed. Good luck to all our players who get onto the pitch and good luck too all fans that are watching in Ibrokes -stay safe!

The mighty Aberdeen and Killie gave it a better run than the pathetic Celtic.

Away out t watch the zombies celebrate their winning of the Milky Way Cup

Sevco beat us soundly, in yet another game where we can’t score. Forrest and Tierney would have made a difference but were right to be rested. Questions need asked of Lenny too. Can he motivate players? Can he out-think a novice manager? We did nothing right yesterday and although the league is won, I’m beginning to think if the season went another few games, Sevco would have been up for it. I would treat this as a wake up call.
Lenny? I have my doubts.
Moyes? Definitely not.
I am still very angry at the way Rodgers left the club but he did have a certain something that Lenny lacks.
This season was unsettling and could well have gone pear-shaped after Dembele left.
This has also made me aware of how much Ryan Christie was needed these last games.
Lenny got the team going at Pittodrie. Can he do the same in the Cup Final?
What a season. My meds nurse!!!
Oh by the way, one good thing about yesterday is that it will make 9 in a row all the sweeter because the Orcs think they can catch up. This year’s team was way below par yet we still won the League and there are no guarantees that Sevco will improve next year either. I’m still optimistic for the next few seasons. We need some good signings and likely, a new man at the helm.

Broxburnbhoy

If sevco beat us once a season and we win everything I can live with that. Both Rogers and Lennon have had a terrible performance at Ibrox. Eventually sevco has to win a game against us every now and then. The League is won and a history making treble treble coming up soon. I’m sure the players have bigger things to think about than a dead rubber Glasgow Derby. It has been a weird season while we have come out on top again it has had too many twists and turns and major upheaval. Hopefully we can pick a new manager after the final and settle things down. Sevco cannot compete with us if we spend some money on quality players, get a stable
Manager in and simply play to our strengths. Calm folks calm

The Cha
Reply to  Broxburnbhoy

I agree.

At the dog days of Deila the likes of Brown, Forrest, Lustig and probably others were “done” and the likes of McGregor weren’t been given a chance.

A new manager comes in and everyone starts again and those that perform stick around.

We still need a few players but not sure a major rebuild is in order.

Another thing. We would really have to go down hill for Sevco to close the gap. Football is never static and while one team thinks it is closing the gap, the gap can get even bigger!? Sevco Stuff:
Spending money you don’t have is both unwise and illegal.
Slippy G may not have any money to ‘improve’ his squad.
His loan signings may have to go back to parent clubs.
Defoe and Davis are past their prime so maybe not good enough for 50 games plus per year.
Sevco escaped on the injury front, on the whole. Without our depth of quality. that team would really suffer with injuries to the likes of Tavernier, McGregor or Kent.
Sevco will face another grueling run of Europa qualifiers, where players get tired, injured or overworked.
Sevco has had some incredible refereeing blunders in their favour. That can’t continue as other clubs have exposed the MIBs for what they are. In other words, no more 5 penalty awards to Sevco at Ibrox. No more Beaton stuff. No more ‘honest’ mistakes. No more kicks and punches going unpunished.
Morelos will taken his 20 plus goals elsewhere because he is such a risk.
Other teams figured out how to play against us; the same will happen to Sevco.
Cheating. Karma. What goes round comes round.
If Celtic make a few good signings, Sevco will slip further behind once again.
During my long years as a Celtic supporter, it was often expected we would lose or draw at Ibrox. Those are only two league matches. It’s what’s done at Livvie, Hamilton or Killie on a slippery artificial pitch on a grey wet November that counts in the long run.
We shouldn’t worry about 9 in a row unless we can’t improve our club.
We need a proven striker.
We had so many bad moments this past season that Sevco blew a big chance to catch us off guard.
Given Slippy’s discipline record as a manager, next year will be even greater pressure on all of them to stop the Fenians.
No way will we stumble at the beginning as we did this year.
If we can get Tierney and Christie fit again, our whole game will improve.
There is work to be done, surely but it is amusing to see the Scottish press in overdrive over a team which won nothing.
