Celtic Diary Thursday January 17: One of Our Directors Has A Dilemma

I’ll get to that in a minute

It must be a living nightmare.

Day after day, driving to work, wondering how you can fill all those pages with well informed news and opinion.

Spare a thought for the sports editor at a national newspaper. It must be tough.

Well, it was before Kris Boyd discovered that he was immune from charges related to bringing the game into disrepute.

Quiet news day ?

Ring tubby tum tum and ask him whats going on at Celtic. Because he just “knows “.

By the way, Youssef Mulumbu is training with the kids, and they’ve phoned a taxi for Scott Allan…entirely unconnected to Boyd, of course.

So, what has the rotund rambler been saying this time ?

‘I fully expect Brendan Rodgers to take Leicester job’ Kris Boyd makes bold claim about Celtic boss

Brendan likes a project there is no doubt about that – you can see what he’s done at other clubs.

“It might be the start of something again for Leicester to stay at the top end of English football.

“But if he’s given the opportunity then I fully expect him to take it but there’s no doubt that Celtic fans, the board and the players would want him to stay there until the end of the season.”

He was talking to Jim White, on Talkshite Radio, so legal action would be avoided. Apparently Celtic have consulted lawyers, but were advised no one would be listening and therefore it would be impossible to find a credible witness.

Boyd continued…

“In terms of the size of the club, the history then it’s a step down but if you ask any manager where they want to manage then it’s the English Premier League

“I think Brendan Rodgers would want to finish the season up here and finish it on a high as Celtic manager.

“If Leicester are to get rid of Claude Puel then they need to get a manager in. If he doesn’t take it then he might miss out on that job.”

The bit in bold kind of highlights why Talkshite are losing listeners. If he doesn’t take it he might not get it.

A recent survey, conducted by me, suggested that the average Talkshite listener is as dumb as the hole in a cows arse, which in itself is unsurprising. But that also means, statistically, that about half of them are even dumber than that.

For any Talkshite listener who is reading this, half is a term used to describe a number which has been divided by two. Two is also the number of flappy bits at the side of your head, known as ears, which aid audio communication, and should be directed away from Talkshite Radio.

Whilst Boyds burblings are amusing, its another example of the Celtic boards attitude to the way the club is presented in the media.

Just think, there could have been a major investor listening, or a potential sponsor, who has now had second thoughts because , in his mind, a national broadcaster has allowed someone to offer what he thinks is inside information on a change in management.

Oh, by the way. Claude Puel, the man currently Leicester manager, is said to be on the point of signing a new deal at the club.

And as it wasn’t Kris Boyd who said so, so it might even be true.

Boyd has been spouting his “informed ” nonsense about Celtic for a while. Presumably in the knowledge that Celtic won’t do anything about it.

May I suggest they do, and put this guy back in his box ?

Image result for big box

Need to be bigger than that.

Image result for big box

Nope, bigger..

Image result for big box

There we go.

Scott McTominay on loan ?

Wrong Manchester club. We’re looking at centre halfs down there though.

I’m not entirely sure when the Man City under 21s are next in action in the Checkatrade cup-its a real tournament-but I kind of wish I’d watched their last game.

James McCarthy on loan ? Nope. Don’t be silly.

Any talk of loans is based purely on the fact that Celtic have been known to take players on loan.

A bit like the guy who does the weather at the Daily Express. Well, if it snowed last January, then…

Image result for daily express snow headline

Stare at that picture for a moment or two. You’ll never listen to a weather forecast again.

Ya Ya Toure ? Maybe. if Ntcham goes, and we hear he wants to, then its a short term solution. About an hour or so.

McKenna ? As far as we know, its still a goer. Which means Hendry and Hayes are still a goner.

Image result for i'm here all week gif

There is a little bit of if not panic then certainly discomfort about the fact that Celtic have spent very little thus far in the window.

Don’t worry.

Image result for its going to be alright gif

A trip down memory lane now, remember this ?

Gosh …how did they get that licence back in 2011 ?

Maybe when the board finally grow a pair and stand up for themselves they could add that to the complaints about Boyd.

Now you could argue that its difficult for the board to air its views in public…if only they had access to the mainstream media…

A Celtic director…with his own newspaper column ?

And shareholders have to pay for a fucking advert when they want to draw attention to the fact that the company is being ripped off ?

Brian David Henderson Wilson[1] (born 13 December 1948 in DunoonScotland) is a former politician in the United Kingdom. He was Labour Party Member of Parliament from 1987 until 2005 and served as a Minister of State from 1997 to 2003 (Scottish Office 1997–1998, Department of Trade and Industry 1998–1999, Scottish Office 1999–2001, Foreign Office 2001 and Energy Minister, DTI 2001–2003). After standing down as a Minister prior to his departure from Parliament, he was asked by Tony Blair to act as the Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Overseas Trade. Having continued to take an interest in trade promotion he was appointed to the newly re-established UK Board of Trade in 2017. He is also chairman of Harris Tweed Hebrides, a director of Celtic Football Club and Visiting Professor at the University of Strathclyde

Dunoon, as some of you know , is my hometown.

Not any fucking more. Not if that spineless goon is from there.

From now on I’m a Stokie, a clayhead, an oatcake muncher, a pottery producer and I’m proud of it.

Image result for stoke on trent logo

Until independence of course, and I need to apply for a Scottish passport.

I’ve had a bit of a rant, but on a serious note..here we are struggling to gain mainstream medias attention for Resolution 12 and one of our directors has a column in a national newspaper..

Image result for fucking fuck

Ten in a row and I’m out.

We all should be.

If thats not evidence in itself of the boards complicity with the greatest scandal in sporting history, its at least a sign they don’t care. Any director with a genuine interest in his shareholders who just happened to have a column in a national newspaper would probably at the very least air his concerns, perhaps even ask for an investigation, especially if his shareholders had evidence of it.

They don’t care, do they ?

Sometimes though, justice is worth waiting for…

Ex-British soldier to be prosecuted for Aidan McAnespie killing

GAA fan (23) was shot dead as he walked through a British army checkpoint in 1988

A former British army soldier is to be prosecuted for the February 1988 killing of Co Tyrone man Aidan McAnespie.

Northern Ireland’s Public Prosection Service (PPS) confirmed on Tuesday a 48-year-old man will be prosecuted for the offence of gross negligence manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of the 23-year-old 30 years ago.

Mr McAnespie was shot dead on the Tyrone-Monaghan border area as he walked through a British army checkpoint on his way to Aghaloo GAA grounds to watch a football match.

The suspect in the killing, who previously said he accidentally fired his machine gun because his fingers were wet, had been charged with manslaughter in 1988, when he was aged 18, but the proceedings were withdrawn at Belfast Magistrates Court in September of that year.

Those days are firmly in the past. They need to stay there.

But the prosecution is welcome. It will help to remind people of those dark days, and perhaps help to stop politicians from risking a re run.

Its needed.

Yesterday, the Westminster government survived a no confidence vote. Purely because the Democratic unionist Party supported them. That mans the party who think dinosaurs weren’t real hold the balnce of power in a modern democratic society, where kids rely on foodbanks and people live in shop doorways.

How the fuck did that happen ?

Ah the coat of many colours Mr. Wilson, its not gannex but it must be extremely hard to wear, camouflaged no doubt. But like the rest of the board I’m certain they enjoy a day out at the races, golf whatever, but they hide behind that bullet proofed barrier, them on one side, we on the other hissing and spitting, so the barrier is waterproofed. They just don’t care enough. Sporting integrity, standing hiding in the shadows as the many critics of our great club hurl abuse and try to keep us in our box. Shameful, great diary BTW and a worthy caption win Puggy it was a belter… Young man, take a leaf out my book, bell bottoms and medallions, is the look…

I’m of the firm belief that the so called custodians of our club are complicit in the Newco saga. The guys behind Res12 have supplied the ammo but these wankers won’t load and fire the gun. They trot out all sorts of excuses regarding their inaction over this.

The other member clubs won’t back them
We don’t think the time is right
We don’t have enough evidence
It’s all very complicated, legally

Does anyone else think that they are pulling the wool over the supporters eyes?

I think they have something to hide. Perhaps something which even the happiest of happyclappers would find hard to stomach. Like, erm, being the brains behind the plan to keep a team playing out of Ibrox.

Of course, they could mount a defence of error of judgement and apologise. That their intentions were good and that the process, once begun, was taken out of their hands, that certain s decisions were later taken that they didn’t agree with. And you know, even I might have accepted that-if it had happened, say, six years ago.

Not now. Sometimes it IS too late to say you’re sorry. Especially as none of them have done the right thing and GTFout of our club.

The board probably travel in the same circles as those they are meant to be taking to task over the cheating and corruption, it’s what they do. Going to the same eateries, functions, parties etc

The shareholders are being run over roughshod and that mob placate them with bullshit. I’ve said it before, we’re victims of our own success.

It’s time for change but as long as the supporters are being fed success then this will continue. Get them to fuck.

Watched a wee bit of the Southampton via Frank Lampard’s Derby, this term (inset name) lends credence to the personality being bigger than the club. The Quiff, scored a good goal with his head, (I had to wipe my eyes) if it hadn’t been for his hair, then it would have gone over the bar. Despite huge money wasted/ squandered in Engerland, the fitba. still makes your eyes bleed, so god luck watching shitey Stoke, they are minging. The equilibrium must be maintained in Scotland, where the mankies still run by a crook, where the press kiss their arses, and the refereeing fraternity give them every advantage. You begin to realise just what we are up against. But what could be worse than your own board get their lips stitched and act like the three monkey’s, perverse is what it is. Stem cells are the answer, where we can grow them a new set of balls…

So the enemy is our own Board? What a load of tosh. Auldheid was alluding to the complexity of the situation. Wading into it on our own as a club against the governing body and probably by association UEFA and FIFA with no support from the other member clubs or any support at all would absolutely risk the existence of Celtic Football Club. I get that some of you are living in the 19th century and think of the Board like Mine owners. I think you may need to join us in the 21st century. Are they perfect no – are they the enemy no – other Celtic supporters will do as they see fit to make their voices heard.

Do you think the board stick up and fight our corner when we’re being trashed by the sycophantic media? Do you think that if McCann was still around he would have took this shite? I am happy with the trebles. I’m happy with solid financials for the long term survival of the club. I’m happy with the stadium and surrounding area improvements. I’m more or less happy with the squad – need a better defense – could do more here. I’m happy with the way we play most of the time. I’m unhappy that oldco Rangers seem to have gotten away with the UK’s biggest sporting scandal! I’m unsure what our Board can do without risking the club in the process. I’m unhappy with the SFA, SPFL that they choose to ignore this. I wish they the Celtic Board would just say it at least. That would be a start. I’m unhappy that the current club playing out of Ibrox are trading while insolvent and the SFA and SPFL ignore it. I’d like the Celtic Board to at least ask what the rules are and are they the same for every club. As far as the team the results and the health of the club – I’m very happy.

We must have three million players on our books, the rest of the SPFL combined doesn’t have as many players. I read somewhere that we had about 15 midfielders, that is surly a failed recruitment policy and its been the same way for decades. £500,000 for him, £650,000 for another, it all adds up to a collection of mediocre players earning a wage that the rest of the SPFL simply cannot afford. That is why its hard to move them on. I remember WGS bringing in Jan Vinegor of Hassle-back, he used his full budget to bring him to the Celtic and he paid us back in spades. Quality beats Quantity as my old teacher once said, Quality pays. A Director of Football is required, oh aye that auld chestnut, but get Pistol Pete back to his £165, 000 P.A. salary and spend his money on players. Its out of control, its value for money, not heated driveways, they canny play fitba…

Its funny how circumstances align, sometimes even in life. I learned the other week about the British cabinet meeting in Inverness Castle, the first time it had met outside London, because most of them were up at Balmoral. But it was what they discussed that was of interest to me. Home Rule for Ireland, part three, the other twice it was rejected by the House of Lords. This would be about 1911/12. The second: was the story of the building of the Olympus and the Titanic at Harland@ Wolffe. William Pirrie was the owner of H. and W. although a staunch Presbyterian he would not countenance Sectarianism in his yard. Suprisingly he was a firm believer in Home Rule. He spoke at a meeting in its favour at item number three, at Celtic park, the home of Belfast Celtic, he got chased and pelted with eggs and rotten fruit, the funny marchers were scared of Home Rule, so he ran back to his home in London. He only emerged later to run the first World War’s was effort in charge of Merchant shipping. The point is how history seems to be linked, I often wonder how those times for our ancestors compare to now…

“Celtic have spent very little thus far in the window.”

Given that the Bayo deal isn’t completed, have we actually spent anything?

In the summer we pulled in about £40m and spent £4m (Eddy, which may rise but that was the initial outlay)

I understand we can’t spend money we don’t have but why are we averse to spend money we do have?

BgBhoy, you make a well balanced point re stability and all but there are many stable clubs throughout Europe. I’m not saying overspend or jump to the ridiculous prices in England but we are Celtic, we’ve got to look to progress in Europe or is just qualifying our CL. ? Take the money that this brings, maybe buy an undiscovered gem that we can polish and punt along with four or five that help us in Scotland but then crash out because hey, we can’t compete with those teams! Trebles are great but Seville and Lisbon even Milan still resonate today.

Probably not popular here but I think leadership should be acknowledged. When even your own supporters despise you, when you rely on a bunch of loyalist bampots to keep you in a job, when being out of Europe by Spring is guaranteed, when your debt is huge and your only plan is to try and scrape through the next few months – you have to hand it to Gerrard for holding it together.

The SFA meeting tonight at McDiarmid Park, When all the referees and managers (those that accept) discuss dishonesty in football and cheating referee’s.
Chaired by Maxwell and never has there been a bigger meeting riven with dodginess. Hello Hello my band of brothers, items on the agenda to discuss tonight are how those bould bhoy’s canny half bleat. Is this meeting instead of the one that our board called with Maxwell or is it an add-on, to placate the baying bhoys. Well don’t expect Brendan to tell them to GTF. his modest manner would not allow that, how I miss the Stein, his roaring get it right up yous, a passionate advocate for honesty and plain speaking. Well Brendan certainly looked smart anyway all suited and booted! (Excuse female viewpoint here but,as you are no doubt aware, women are partial to a man in a well cut suit 🙂 🙂 ) The refs turned up in leisurewear – maybe they were all round John’s house playing PS4 as he’s not allowed out to play on account of his death threat n that! Come to think of it didn’t see any police bodyguards – does that mean it’s all sorted now? Have they arrested culprits and just not told us?? Beaton looked as if he was totally shitting himself, very pale with head bowed. As well he might the cheating bastard! Oh, and Ralph, there was also a photo of the elusive Claire Whyte for any future articles ! Brendan appears to have had plenty to say, in fact he must have not allowed anyone else to get a word in as his points were the only ones quoted in the article! Mind you, they were worth reading his beautifully worded assertion that professional referees are the way forward, as opposed to ‘ well meaning amateurs’ being the unspoken inference, and his detailed explanation of why he thinks so was quite sublime. His call for VAR to be introduced was apparently taken on board and ‘will be looked at’! Of course it will, it’s just gonna be more masons in the black reviewing the footage – where’s the worry boys? This had better not be instead of Celtic’s meeting with SFA as that meeting has a specific purpose and very specific questions that every Celtic supporter wants asked…and to hear the answers!! Tonight’s little well rehearsed soiree stage managed by SFA & refs PR team was nothing more than a get together over tea & biscuits to show that we are all on the same side, we all want to improve communication, improve our game blah de blah….aye right! In the circs, I think Brendan did his bit but it was really just the usual PR gloop!

Seen the picture of Clair, PHOOAAARRR, she looks like a goer 😉 <3 once again you describe the situation a lot better than I ever could.
The totally sad thing is that they would never say the questions that we would ask, like about truth, openness and accountability, there's is "Oh how are you" just another deflection. Me, I want VAR in ASAP, anything that puts pressure on them and then to be able to ask them questions in front of the camera's. As for the cheat Beaton, we can but hope that he knows that he has been found out, on his next visit to paradise, he is crapping his pants. Now onto this suit thingy, what is your preference, Italian, Harris tweed, or perhaps the kilt. When it comes to the gals, I am partial to a skirt, shorter the better with a big slit up the side, oh need to stop, am getting distracted… Gulp.

Oh Italian definitely – not overly partial to the kilt and as for Harris tweed I know you were jesting Mikey -:)
Your own preferences suggest a liking for youngish paramours as few ladies of a more mature vintage would go for split skirts lol – mind you you know what they say about good tunes and older fiddles ha ha – we’d better stop or Ralph will be issuing us with yellow cards for bringing the site into disrepute 🙂

Mike my first reply went missing – or maybe was cut by the censors I don’t know but I’ll give it another go!
Suits – Italian most definitely. not overly partial to kilts and I’m assuming your Harris tweed was a jest -:)
Re your own preferences I’m thinking you must have a preference for youth – subtlety not being something you favour -:) -:)
Ha ha I’ll be fortunate if this makes it past the censor but better stop now or Ralph will have us on a yellow card for disrepute -:)

A straight Reddy for both of us, but don’t worry about Ralphy, I have the low down on him, he has to treat me with care or else…
Harris tweed, yes a joke, more about Wilson than about wearing, as was the kilt. Italian, most definitely, as for youth, no, not really, I prefer the more mature lady, someone with experience. I have to stop quickly for a wee while.. Hahaha. Keep well Mrs. and its good that we can have a blether without it being too p.c. Take care. 😉

Yep, Oli, Mousa & Eddy (combined worth ~£50m) aren’t good enough for Celtic but Dobbie (Huns reject), Kamberi (Austrian Div 2 reject) and Shankland (Aberdeen reject) are. 🙁

The above smiley waa a reply to the Cha, not Billy Britain Mr.Saiz.
Once again you show your lack of understanding of what Dembele was all about.
Celtic sign players like Moussa, Virgil & the likes because we are HAPPY to sell these guys on after 2-3 years, it has NOTHING to do with loyalty, loyalty is a rare thing now.
The point is, Celtic are up front with these players from day one, it suits player & club.

You talk of commitment? How committed was your love thing Boyata when he refused to play in our biggest game of the season?

Griffiths is a clown his specialty is scarf tying in his feeble mind that is more important that keeping fit, being professional and being prepared for his next game, sadly some of the support appreciate his little tricks more than his fitness to play. He has talent, no doubt about it, but like some players his mind is not in tune with his profession. The modern professional players have to be focused and lead a life which reflects their profession. When he came to Celtic it was clear that he had what it takes to succeed but he allowed his stupidity to distract him from leading the life that was required for a professional player. Another wasted talent, football is filled with personalities that are distracted from leading the life that is required.

Good morning Weered, yes everything is fine and dandy. We had just about finished the cottage, painted the walls and ceilings, then discovered rising damp in a bedroom. Out with the chipper and like Jericho the walls came tumbling down. So damp proof, replastering to do and so on. Hope you and yours are all good.. 😉

Mike,
Agreed on the Griffiths situation, we all want him to do well, but he must get control of himself.
He has the ability & he is at the best club he could wish for.
Don’t blow it Leigh, screw the head lad!
