I’ll get to that in a minute
It must be a living nightmare.
Day after day, driving to work, wondering how you can fill all those pages with well informed news and opinion.
Spare a thought for the sports editor at a national newspaper. It must be tough.
Well, it was before Kris Boyd discovered that he was immune from charges related to bringing the game into disrepute.
Quiet news day ?
Ring tubby tum tum and ask him whats going on at Celtic. Because he just “knows “.
By the way, Youssef Mulumbu is training with the kids, and they’ve phoned a taxi for Scott Allan…entirely unconnected to Boyd, of course.
So, what has the rotund rambler been saying this time ?
‘I fully expect Brendan Rodgers to take Leicester job’ Kris Boyd makes bold claim about Celtic boss
Brendan likes a project there is no doubt about that – you can see what he’s done at other clubs.
“It might be the start of something again for Leicester to stay at the top end of English football.
“But if he’s given the opportunity then I fully expect him to take it but there’s no doubt that Celtic fans, the board and the players would want him to stay there until the end of the season.”
He was talking to Jim White, on Talkshite Radio, so legal action would be avoided. Apparently Celtic have consulted lawyers, but were advised no one would be listening and therefore it would be impossible to find a credible witness.
Boyd continued…
“In terms of the size of the club, the history then it’s a step down but if you ask any manager where they want to manage then it’s the English Premier League
“I think Brendan Rodgers would want to finish the season up here and finish it on a high as Celtic manager.
“If Leicester are to get rid of Claude Puel then they need to get a manager in. If he doesn’t take it then he might miss out on that job.”
The bit in bold kind of highlights why Talkshite are losing listeners. If he doesn’t take it he might not get it.
A recent survey, conducted by me, suggested that the average Talkshite listener is as dumb as the hole in a cows arse, which in itself is unsurprising. But that also means, statistically, that about half of them are even dumber than that.
For any Talkshite listener who is reading this, half is a term used to describe a number which has been divided by two. Two is also the number of flappy bits at the side of your head, known as ears, which aid audio communication, and should be directed away from Talkshite Radio.
Whilst Boyds burblings are amusing, its another example of the Celtic boards attitude to the way the club is presented in the media.
Just think, there could have been a major investor listening, or a potential sponsor, who has now had second thoughts because , in his mind, a national broadcaster has allowed someone to offer what he thinks is inside information on a change in management.
Oh, by the way. Claude Puel, the man currently Leicester manager, is said to be on the point of signing a new deal at the club.
And as it wasn’t Kris Boyd who said so, so it might even be true.
Boyd has been spouting his “informed ” nonsense about Celtic for a while. Presumably in the knowledge that Celtic won’t do anything about it.
May I suggest they do, and put this guy back in his box ?
Need to be bigger than that.
Nope, bigger..
There we go.
Scott McTominay on loan ?
Wrong Manchester club. We’re looking at centre halfs down there though.
I’m not entirely sure when the Man City under 21s are next in action in the Checkatrade cup-its a real tournament-but I kind of wish I’d watched their last game.
James McCarthy on loan ? Nope. Don’t be silly.
Any talk of loans is based purely on the fact that Celtic have been known to take players on loan.
A bit like the guy who does the weather at the Daily Express. Well, if it snowed last January, then…
Stare at that picture for a moment or two. You’ll never listen to a weather forecast again.
Ya Ya Toure ? Maybe. if Ntcham goes, and we hear he wants to, then its a short term solution. About an hour or so.
McKenna ? As far as we know, its still a goer. Which means Hendry and Hayes are still a goner.
There is a little bit of if not panic then certainly discomfort about the fact that Celtic have spent very little thus far in the window.
Don’t worry.
A trip down memory lane now, remember this ?
Gosh …how did they get that licence back in 2011 ?
Maybe when the board finally grow a pair and stand up for themselves they could add that to the complaints about Boyd.
Now you could argue that its difficult for the board to air its views in public…if only they had access to the mainstream media…
A Celtic director…with his own newspaper column ?
And shareholders have to pay for a fucking advert when they want to draw attention to the fact that the company is being ripped off ?
Brian David Henderson Wilson[1] (born 13 December 1948 in Dunoon, Scotland) is a former politician in the United Kingdom. He was Labour Party Member of Parliament from 1987 until 2005 and served as a Minister of State from 1997 to 2003 (Scottish Office 1997–1998, Department of Trade and Industry 1998–1999, Scottish Office 1999–2001, Foreign Office 2001 and Energy Minister, DTI 2001–2003). After standing down as a Minister prior to his departure from Parliament, he was asked by Tony Blair to act as the Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Overseas Trade. Having continued to take an interest in trade promotion he was appointed to the newly re-established UK Board of Trade in 2017. He is also chairman of Harris Tweed Hebrides, a director of Celtic Football Club and Visiting Professor at the University of Strathclyde.
Dunoon, as some of you know , is my hometown.
Not any fucking more. Not if that spineless goon is from there.
From now on I’m a Stokie, a clayhead, an oatcake muncher, a pottery producer and I’m proud of it.
Until independence of course, and I need to apply for a Scottish passport.
I’ve had a bit of a rant, but on a serious note..here we are struggling to gain mainstream medias attention for Resolution 12 and one of our directors has a column in a national newspaper..
Ten in a row and I’m out.
We all should be.
If thats not evidence in itself of the boards complicity with the greatest scandal in sporting history, its at least a sign they don’t care. Any director with a genuine interest in his shareholders who just happened to have a column in a national newspaper would probably at the very least air his concerns, perhaps even ask for an investigation, especially if his shareholders had evidence of it.
They don’t care, do they ?
Sometimes though, justice is worth waiting for…
Ex-British soldier to be prosecuted for Aidan McAnespie killing
GAA fan (23) was shot dead as he walked through a British army checkpoint in 1988
A former British army soldier is to be prosecuted for the February 1988 killing of Co Tyrone man Aidan McAnespie.
Northern Ireland’s Public Prosection Service (PPS) confirmed on Tuesday a 48-year-old man will be prosecuted for the offence of gross negligence manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of the 23-year-old 30 years ago.
Mr McAnespie was shot dead on the Tyrone-Monaghan border area as he walked through a British army checkpoint on his way to Aghaloo GAA grounds to watch a football match.
The suspect in the killing, who previously said he accidentally fired his machine gun because his fingers were wet, had been charged with manslaughter in 1988, when he was aged 18, but the proceedings were withdrawn at Belfast Magistrates Court in September of that year.
Those days are firmly in the past. They need to stay there.
But the prosecution is welcome. It will help to remind people of those dark days, and perhaps help to stop politicians from risking a re run.
Its needed.
Yesterday, the Westminster government survived a no confidence vote. Purely because the Democratic unionist Party supported them. That mans the party who think dinosaurs weren’t real hold the balnce of power in a modern democratic society, where kids rely on foodbanks and people live in shop doorways.
How the fuck did that happen ?
