Celtic Diary Friday November 23

Neil Lennon has decided, probably after reading yesterdays diary, to “use the squad” for the games before the Spartak UCL decider.

He went on:

“We need players who haven’t played as much as they would like to really come to the fore and make sure our league form is consistent, so we go into the Spartak game ready to go.”

Well, maybe he didn’t read it after all. again, whilst it is an important game, his emphasis on spartak will carry down to theplayers, and if not corrected, the same lackadaisical approach will ensue. Worryingly, its difficult to lift that cloud on demand. But, Lennon has proved so far he knows what he’s doing.

Well, at least he will if he ignores Scott Browns pleas to withhold surgery until after that game, as the midfielder wants to go through the pain barrier again. Except it really isn’t worth the risk. Stick with Kayal and Ledley now, and move forward. For Broony, surgery and rest will mean that at least he can’t do any more damage.

James Forrest is unlikely to be back in the team anytime soon, as he has a more complicated problem than first thought-like he did at the end of last season.

The winger has a tendon problem in the hamstring area, which doesn’t mean a thing to anyone without a medical degree, but suffice to say he’s got a poorly leg.

Lennon, again playing up the Spartak game, said he hoped  ” and its an  outside chance, he’ll be ready for the Spartak game.”

There are other games to play before that, though you wouldn’t think so, and concentration needs to be worked on anyway, after the Benfica loss, so maybe its time to get down to work.

Its a big Celtic Happy Birthday to trialist Juan Agudelo , who is twenty today. The US striker, currently with Chivas USA has given the usual PR about his dream to play in Europe, and how Celtic are a big club etc….”I know the history”, he said of Celtic. Which means he has stayed in his room during the trial period and watched dvds. More proof of how dull footballers really are these days. He’s only twenty, and should be out stealing cars and climbing out of young girls windows at three in the morning. How else could James Forrest have picked up his in jury?

Anyway, a win tomorrow is a must as Celtic attempt to put a wee bit of daylight between the club and the chasing pack. Note here that there is a chasing pack, and not just one referee assisted cheating bigoted club in the running for the title.

Although they would have you believe they were entirely innocent all the time, if the press are anything to go by. You see,all that money which was loaned out to players, and managers and others , which can actually, and this was the plan, be paid back out of ones estate upon death-or even written off against inheritance tax, was perfectly legal, and only used to build shelter for the homeless, or to feed the hungry of the world.

So begins the campaign to allow the dark side to be readmitted to society. Along with the campaign to have the other investigations into them dropped.

Of course, that was why David Murray can now say he was confident all along he’d done nothing wrong. Strangely enough, not confident enough to keep the liabilities to himself when he sold the club, or confident enough not to offer a £10m settlement, which was rejected by HMRC years ago.

But he is confident that the MSM will help to exonerate him, and expect to see and hear more of him in the next week or so, but don’t expect any difficult questions.

“What I find amazing,” said the great man “is that we were guilty until proven innocent.”

Er yes. Thats what the first hearing found. It was you who appealed.

“This is the only case in history where awards were given to TV programmes when there hasn’t even been a result.”

Er, actually the award was for decent, honest investigative journalism. Against you, and your club.

Still, we are sure that the finest legal minds in Scotland are ready to prove that all the information in the documentary was false.

“I need to stand back at the moment” said Murray. So he should. He’s just making Hector angry.

HMRC have spent too much time and money on this, and actually blame an attitude within Ibrox and Murray International to withhold information, and won’t let it go.

So enjoy your respite Mr. Murray, but it will still be hanging over you for a while yet. BDO have said they will explore all options as they try to find out what went wrong. They will be asking questions no-one else has. They will also be demanding answers.

By “standing back” he obviously means demanding an apology from the BBC for factual inaccuracies-something he himself is no stranger to. Actually, welcome back , Dave, we’ve missed you. Just keep talking, because with you and Chuckles Green hogging the limelight, there is no more certain way to ensure your club remains dead.

Mark Fotheringham was the man who took up the mantle of Celtics youngest ever player. The Flying Foetus, as he was known, (only by me, to be fair,) played under Kenny Dalglish at the end of the Barnes season. Barnes still reckons a white manager would have had more time than him to turn round that disastrous period of Celtics history, and he went on to develop his own successful career in management, oh hang on. He’s still developing it. Or he will when he gets another job.

At that time, Dalglish famously held press conferences in the pub., and one journalist was banned. Who, why and where?

It was Baird’s Bar on the Gallowgate. Hugh Keevins was barred for allegedly snorting cocaine from between the ample bosoms of Michelle McManus.

Listening to the idiots who not only phone in but also the”experts” who contribute to Clyde 1’s phone in over the last few days -it’s astonishing how the line seesm to be we’ve /they have done nothing wrong , we/they would still be in the SPL , drop the investigation now etc.

Surely there is someone qualified , clever and honest enough to point out that the FTT did not admonish old Rangers completly at all ? ALso the SPL dual contract investigation is separate from the FTT tax avoidance hearing. The dual contracts were there – will the SPL now be brave enough to follow it through to the logical conclusion ? I think we all know the answer to that.

The whole thing stinks -it’s so corrupt , and not because the FTT did not find totally against them . It’s the pathetic media , one brain celled , typing, suck up dinosaurs, living in the past ,abusing a platform that’s just about to collapse .

They are no more experts than me or you , yet seem to think that because they have had toad in the hole at Murrays gaff, they elevate their self importance !

I will be just as happy the day the clyde one phone in goes the same way as Real Radio as I was when Oldco ceased to be . Rradio Scotland need to sort themselves out too !

I’ve obviously been in a long coma induced stupor for the past 10 months, so can someone clarify some things for me:-
did oldco not have debts of approx £40 million when they went into administration, debts which included admitted non payment of taxes?
did oldco not choose to go into administration to avoid paying their debts?
if you had also been in a coma for the last 10 months you would believe that oldco never had any debt, never owed any taxes and were put into administration forcibly by a vindictive HMRC.
oldco’s ability to airbrush history is beyond belief – the labour party could do with their skills just now (nothing could airbrush the tory party’s history to make it acceptable).
I think the funniest part of this whole fiasco is that they fell on their own swords in the lbelief that the battle was lost – so much for no surrender and we don’t do walking away.
