Celtic moved five points clear at the top of the league table with a comfortable 2-0 win at the home of “rangers ”
The result was never in doubt, even if the performance at times was indicative perhaps of minds being on the upcoming European game, and although the game was scoreless at half time , the hoops quickly put the result beyond doubt with goals from Rogic and Griffiths before the midpoint of the second half, thus avoiding any unneccessary stress.
There was a flashpoint of sorts at half time when unstable “rangers ” manager Pedro Caixinha had a pop at bemused Celtic captain Scott Brown, which no doubt will get Neil Lennon a five game ban for giving the Portuguese ideas, but all that did was show that the gentle old man had been told to be a little bit more fiesty..
The mainstream media jumped on this little head to head as being the main story, and decided to go with the Portuguese angle..
Notice the narrative is entirely different from , say, a non PR perspective…
From the but at the bottom-not the headstone advert, which could cost the Mails graphics editor Brendan O’ Hoolahan his job, note how many pages are devoted to the game, which is considerably more than it merits.
and the Sun…
Note also the Griffiths wiping his nose story.
We asked the striker why he wiped his nose on their corner flag, and he replied
” If I’d wiped my arse on it , I’d have got booked. “
Well, thats what I think I would have said, which is pretty much the same thing.
The stewards, fearful of a bit of provocative scarf tying at the end of the game, long after the Ibrox hirdes had departed, bar a few waiting to be offended, formed a defensive line around the goalposts at the Broomloan end..
what would they have done had the players advanced toward them ?
Attacked them ?
Then what would 7000 Celtic fans have done ?
If we are talking about provocation, these stewards and whoever controls them should be hauled in front of the courts.
Especially this one…
Though credit to this one, who really loves his job…
Was Brown guilty of taunting the manager ?
Can’t see it myself. The blanket is on offer to keep the old fellows knees warm in the second half.
The incident Caixinha refers to didn’t happen. There was a bit of a tangle but the media narrative suggests an assault. There was no assault, not even a little bit of handbags.
After the incident at Hamilton where Brown was accused of kicking an opponent in the head, one could be forgiven for thinking theres a bit of a campaign against him.
As for Caixinha, he’s under a bit of pressure now.
apart from his usual burbling in the media, he has to now justify his signings to the hordes, who are wondering why he was allowed to spend £9m on diddies such as Carlos Pena, who seems to think exercise is simply shewing your food quickly.
They haven’t spent that sort of money, thats more or less beyond doubt, but it made the support feel like they were on the way back-again. They are now eight points adrift of Celtic after seven games, and have still to play Aberdeen, Hearts and St johnstone.
Pedro is on a three year deal, and if they sack him, they’ll still have to pay him.
This means they can’t sack him, and that hurts them, so they have to call in a few favours to deflect from what is becoming a catastrophe over there.
Thats why this man is denying liquidation,
and will deny anything else that ensures he gets his cheque in the post.
We are witnessing a propaganda offensive the like of which has not been seen since Joseph Goebbels got a phone call from his mate Adolf asking him to do a bit of work on his image as he was thinking of going into politics.
We can see through it, but theres many many more out there who actually believe whats being said.
But when the dust clears, it was “rangers” 0, Celtic 2.
Which is all that matters, because we have moved on from the circus that surrounds that fixture.
And whatever one particular clown says doesn’t should have no bearing on anything we do.
Today, what could the captain be saying ?
Just before half time I’ll tell Pedro that Lee Wallace told me where Bruno Alves is hiding,
A useful warm up for Celtic’s big match this week.It must be difficult for BR to motivate himself and the players as
the season goes on, thank goodness for the Champions League.
I have said before I have nothing against Pedro, he doesn’t need enemies with the things he says, oh dear oh dear, he is seriously embarrassing but it’s up to him. Tactically he did better than last year, his squad is a bit better but I wondrer if they had got the penalty and I think, despite Jozo’s attempt to pull his foot back, it probably was a pensalty what would have happened. I believe Celtic would have scored four.
Caption ” So Pedro said “Se me outside.” So I said: Si Pedro.” But he didn’t turn up!”
Any way we have European matches and Aberdeen to play do things won’t remain easy, I suspect the players will welcome a bit of a challenge.
Can’t agree that was ever a penalty mate. Simunovic withdrew from the tackle cos Morelos had already hit the ball too far in front of himself and lost it and was ALREADY in mid air screaming although there was no contact. If Simunovic hadnt retracted his leg fuds like Walker would’ve been accusing him of leaving a ‘trailing’ leg. There was NO contact. What the hell are you supposed to do with your limbs if some halfwit decides to take a swallow dive across them? This is right up there with the argument that if a Celtic defender WINS the ball in the penalty area without significantly altering the ball’s direction of travel it’s a penalty. Remember that one from last year?
If that was a penalty then Roberts should have got one too.
Seen them given bjf but not a penalty for me jozo pulls up in plenty of time Morello quite cleverly brushes the leg which is not outstretched nor moving in any direction and dives.
“It must be difficult for BR to motivate himself and the players as the season goes on,”
BBC, were we watching the same game? Celtic had TWO penalties denied them
The first a stone wall hand ball then as good a claim as the HUNS had.
Playing for any other team Morelos would have been sent off. Pedro? If that had been Lenny then pricks like Walker would be all for making it a hanging offence, as it was he had Broony confronting the cyclist rather than report what actually happened… The Captain of CELTIC Football Club was confronted by a fuckin loonball who should have been red carded.
In truth PretendyGers had one effort on target which should have been a free kick to Celtic before the fat arsed buffalo had his effort. Go look at Millar fouling Lustig.
I have no sympathy for mad Pedro he is a nutcase pure and simple and all the pish patter about improvement is just that… pure Pish.
Caption: Brendan “You must be making that up”
Broonie “Naw seriously gaffer – the deluded halfwit started waffling some pish about dugs and caravans”
I just pointed out to Ped, that with the Anderlecht game coming up, it was good of him to give us a wee calf.
Sevco well pumped again or as j McClean said skelped he he HH MG Dublin Eire
Hearts drew with them at their midden Ralph, but yes they will be double digits behind sooner rather than later.
They don’t get how far behind they truly are, my only surprise is some of our fans are actually worried about the challenge they represent; their isn’t one!!
Roll on Wednesday.
Caption: Gaffer, apparently Pedro reckons he could take me.
The media wants to swallow Pedro the “big man” story when his new post magic hat team turned out to be as bad if not worse than the best squad in Scotland that he inherited. The gulf is enormous and despite the desperation so called Rangers leaning pundits to find some morsels of closing the gap – the gap is in fact just a big as it has been and seems bigger despite bat shit crazy Pedro’s spending of money they don’t have. I think Pedro needs to be charged with briningbthe game into disrepute by trying to assault Broony then boasting about it in his press interview after the game. Inciting violence and threatening a player from an opposition team seems a bit over the line? Imagine if Neil Lennon had done that. What would be the headlines today?
“Imagine if Neil Lennon had done that. What would be the headlines today?”
Ah was thinking the same thing Brox. Pedro was playing ti the gallery, he looks right oot his depth. He’ll implode, after another few bad results then the wheels will really come off that shambles called ‘rangers’
And then I showed aff my 6 pack
Caption – so Ah telt him, dinny gies yir pish ya rage daftie or I’ll huv ti slap yir pus. And he looked at me blankly
Do you think someone is having a laugh with the advert at the bottom of the Sunday Mail article.
Thought the match was totally one sided yesterday, Celtic did what they had to do, Pedro made all the noise about nothing, as the journos to deflect from the truth, they are shite.
A good warm up for the Brussels trip, and they are depressed in deepest Ayrshire today, ranting about that fenian bxxxxrd Thompson.
Do you think the Rangers ladies team would be a bigger challenge Boss?
caption: Aye boss, he called me a caravan and started barking at me!
HaHaHa, nice one 🙂
Caption: Honest boss, he asked for a square go. Well he actually said, I will find you in four corners of planet and will show you my elbow and scars from chasing seagulls.
Brilliant Mike. The
Some thoughts on the game yesterday:
I always believed that most South American and Mexican players had superior ball skills to our home grown players. There was very little evidence of that yesterday…..I suppose that defines the qualities of those that Senor Caixinha has bought.
The main dangers posed by the opposition came from crosses from the their right flank over our defence to the back post. Lustig is easily drawn towards the centre and our defenders can be blindsided by an inrushing opposition player. Moralos nearly scored with this tactic and Miller did the same to set up the Moralos header that Gordon saved. I know Miller should have been called for pushing Simo in the back to create the chance, but there is a weakness to this kind of attack.
In contrast, the Sevco central defence was very weak when under pressure. Both of our goals came because of this. Whether Alves and Wallace would have made a difference, who knows!
Players like Rogic are an enigma to me. He is absent from the game for long periods and suddenly he produces a fantastic pass to set Armstrong free into the penalty area from the left. Then he rockets the ball into the net to break the deadlock! Does he merit inclusion in the team? Well if he does the above, the answer is clear, but if he doesn’t then……………………. In contrast, Armstrong is always involved and provides the link between defence and attack.
Finally, Pedro seems to have discovered the wonders of fake news, the beta blocker for adverse media stories. His team were seriously outclassed so he attempts to deflect attention to a fabricated elbow incident whilst ignoring the potential for injury caused by his players: Moralos, Jack, and Dorrans. Caixinha claimed that he would not have allowed Brown to elbow him if he had been on the park. Not to worry, Pedro, you will soon be getting the elbow all right. Just as quickly as Sevco can afford it and when they have found a real rangers man to take on the task with a limited budget.
Their left barely made it into our half, the centre midfield went from containment to getting played through. The right side was their only attacking option.
As you say, that chance should have been a free kick to us, miller pushes Jozo in the back, just after the cross is hit, to get his yard of space.
Lustig’s positioning, tracking and marking in central positions are woeful which is why he can’t play at centre half. He does them so well at right back as well as being good in the air, it’s a bit hard to fathom why he can’t seem to adapt. Brilliant player, but only in one position.
One encouraging thing was Boyata’s performance. He was subjected to a hard physical test, including the red card assault on his ankle. He should be relable vs Anderlecht……his chance to impress in his own country.
Mixed review for Boyata from me, he showed he was up to the physicality (hacking) of the game but he misplaced a number of easy passes. He wasn’t really challenged defensively due to the level of opposition so a difficult one to judge, he’ll get a real test midweek.
Yes, he did misplace some passes as did Roberts. B just needs game time to get back to his best. Although he is not perfect, I am happier with him in as CB than Bitton or Lustig.
Another thought….Tierney is superbly fit. His engine was still fresh at the end of the game.
It’s wrong to say Lustig can’t do a job in central defence, he has played there many times for Sweden for example.
He is better at RB i agree, but short term, i wouldn’t have a problem with him in CD.
I don’t see it.
The Swedish international boss does tho….
What games has he played there for Sweden?
Snidey wee digs at a five year old girl?
And after you running away greetin to Ralph as well…..
You put the leg work in and research Lustig’s International record, you don’t believe me that’s up to you.
You will discover that i am quite correct though, he also played CD many times for Rosenborg in Norway.
I have waited a while for this opportunity.
Enjoy your evening. Did your girl get her shoes?
Yes she did m8
18 hole Doctor Martins.
Calm doon, joke,.
Rebus. Rogic started like a house on fire then he drifted away and came back again, true. Armstrong played a deeper role and so sees more of the ball. I think rogic could do what Armstrong can do, but I couldn’t see the opposite happen. Armstrong is workmanlike, big engine, clever, but not as clever as rogic. When you are playing against compact defences your number 10 won’t get the ball as much as your holding midfielders
“Former Matador” … like its is something too be proud off. He could be a Former seal clubber or former fox hunter either way he tortured and killed animals purely for amusement or ‘entertainment’.
Singha, on Saturday 23 September, Celtic football team, supported by the best, wittiest and suppressed-in-their-own-country fans, “tortured and killed” a shower of animals for “amusement (and) entertainment”, both on and off their South-of-the-Clyde zoo.
Do you feel hurt about that too?
I fucking, most-definitely do not feel hurt, nay, I’m fucking 5 times higher than elation……them bastards have more than earned their pain, and I for one “Just Can’t Get Enough”.
Monti, get the ‘bowls’ out, I’ll supply the green jelly.
COME ON YE BHOYS IN GREEN.
Entirely agree with comments about Rogic. I’m always surprised when he does something brilliant and I shouldn’t be. He’s like an alien whose human legs the brain can’t quite control and then something clicks and it’s a moment of wonder.. I think Armstrong is only average at the moment.
Anyone noticed that all the news is about the “big man” act and Leigh Griffiths. Rather than about the mid table failings of the second most expensive team in Scotland. Or the song book belted out by the three home stands yesterday. It’s a cardinal sin to clear your nose and it’s ok to sing to celebrate famines and spout anti Irish anti catholic vitriol. When will this get attention for the media. I did see it mentioned in one report – now that journalist will be subject to vile abuse and threats no doubt. Fear and intimidation two cultural norms at so called Rangers. A truly dispicable club.
Just seen the highlights. Been working the weekend. Dont know what the press are slagging wee Griff for but his celebration for the goal was brilliant. Remember Mcoist every time he or whoever scored against us? Brilliant Griff. Love ye wee man!
How can we forget the ‘peado’ chants?
Pedro said…3 letters on our breasts..
I told him you could get a full dictionary on they diddies …
Caption: I just told Pedro it’s like basketball – The Hoops get the points.
Caption: “I thought Pedro was talking pish but the I heard Andy Walker”
Andy Walker was so bad that we changed the channel to ESPN Spanish near the end of the first half. In the second half we watched the game on rangers TV, the commentators sounded like the wee junkies that ask you for £1 for a ‘cup of tea’ at the bus station but they were far more impartial than Walker.
Early nomination for Knob of the Week: Walker.
Doc, I watched what appeared to be a hybrid; SKY and hun TV.
IMO, SKY and hun are pretty much equal anyway, but it would’ve been the same muppets that you heard. Hun pricks.
My nomination for ETims knob-of-the-week is BBC Scotland and I further nominate them for annually consistent knobs-of-the-day, week, month, et al. FUCK ‘EM.
Deflection at its best by the Scottish bigoted media, forget the billy boy songs from start to finish from the inbred knuckle draggers, its all about Leigh’ s actions and Scotty being a bully…oh wait….you got another lesson, how to stay in 2nd/3rd gear and still win comfortably….
Wae wur three letturs oan wur breests ra whole wurrult will know we arra TITs.
I remember the days i would have bought every newspaper on a Sunday and Monday after beating them. Now i wouldnt buy any. They are the worst journalists that have ever worked in the industry. A sham.
We never got out of second gear, and could have stepped up the pace when needed it never was.
Looking forward to Anderlecht now as i was very nervous but with Boyata and Jozo back the defense looks a lot stronger.
Lets hope we play our own game and cut out the basic horrors that allow cheap ball give aways.
We have the ability to win we just need the belief.
Brown says “so I looked at him blanky and said “que?””
Caption: ” We have three letters emblazoned on our breast ” – Caixinha.
” yep T I T ” – Broony.
Just saw your post m8 lol
Yep… Blue TITS
That’s four letters
1 is repeated ergo 3 letters used
Could I just point out that “so called” are the same number of points from bottom as top of the league. The peepul must be so pleased that they’re back,ha ha.KTF
An easy win at Snake Mountain. I expected more ‘resistance.’ Shame about the flare from or fan(s) but even more shame about the home ‘singing’. Anyway, this I think is the first time in our long proud history that we have won three games on the trot over whatever team(s) play at Ibrox? Look it up. I think our team is getting settled. For Wednesday night:
I would like a win, however narrow. No predictions but I think we can take a point or maybe eke out a win. Brendan can now pick his best 11. C’mon the Bhoys. This is our most important CL game, maybe a must win?
Rogers in the midfield ? Now that would be something lol
Methinks, I would play Armstrong and Forrest from the start, bringing Roberts and Dembel after sixty minutes.
Agree with th comments regarding the hearty singing of hateful ditties by the diddies of us that the tits?
More mad about Leigh wiping his nose, thank God it wasn’t his arse, or he would be executed. Pedro the donkey, th best co Edin in Scottish football, the image of Broonie staring him down, superb.
Hateful ditties by the diddies or should That be tits?
Ralph’s Diary: Spetember 24th?? Whit school did you go to? As they say in the East of Scotchland, cough.Remember youngsters, just say NO to most drugs…..

GOD BLESS YOU BOBBY SANDS & YOUR NINE BRAVE COMPANIONS!
Monti… I watched it…lump in my throat and tears in my eyes..
Glory ohh, glory ohh to the bold fenian men
The courage of Bobby and his comrades will always be remembered!
Gone but not forgotten!
It’s difficult to give you too much praise, Ralph, as you earn every tiny bit of it. If, at all, possible, keep it up.
A real pearl from your latest post: “We are witnessing a propaganda offensive the like of which has not been seen since Joseph Goebbels got a phone call from his mate Adolf asking him to do a bit of work on his image as he was thinking of going into politics.” It’s (troublingly) a decent comparison with what’s actually emanating from the Scottish Main Stream Media PURE CLASS from you Ralph, PURE CLASS.
I really hope yer wee dug (junior) is gettin’ his act together; if you’ve stuck tenaciously by my suggested, steroid regime, I’ll confirm my booking for him for July next year at Bellahouston Park. Don’t worry about any oddballs banning him from anywhere; I was banned out the Dennistoun Palais when I was eleven, but look how I’ve turned out. COYBIG.
As a wee bit of a generalisation; the site is, currently, down on quality, sans Mike frae bonnie and Charlie S, to begin with.
The obvious cliques are, no doubt, likely to repel new talent on the site. “Speak when you’re spoken to” type patter is pretty horrid and not encompassing of the fresh blood that this site badly needs. Of course, it’s a free site for opinion (if not free for those who generously host it). Point is, IMO, time to make some contribution to the running and direction of the site with the proviso that no money is expected from those, like me :-), who have no considerable income. (Of course, I’d happily give up fags and daily papers to re-direct that spending onto here. Hope most of you feel similarly. PS I gave up smoking and paying for the ‘Daily’ pish years ago………..
Tic Toc, ah think folk get a bit tired of the abuse that invariably raises it ugly head on here, hence they simply leave, don’t comment or go other sites. Its no surprise the two you mentioned have chosen ti stop contributing as they were was always slagged off by the resident cyber know-it-all- on here.
BondiBrian… how on earth can you know or can anyone know why people choose to stop using ETims unless they have, prior to “leaving”, given any reason for wishing to do so.
One of the people cited by TicToc gave as good as he got and, to my knowledge, he never resorted to “complaints to the management”.
For all we know he may be on holiday or he may be ill or just taking a break.
I wish I had one your crystal balls 🙂
” Cyber know it all on here ” hmmmmmm i wonder who that could be?
Monti… he must have left after seeing the light
n Tehran, Iran, President Abolhassan Bani-Sadr sent a message of condolence to the Sands family.
The Iranian government renamed Winston Churchill Boulevard, the location of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Tehran, to Bobby Sands Street, prompting the embassy to move its entrance door to Ferdowsi Avenue to avoid using Bobby Sands Street on its letterhead. A street in the Elahieh district is also named after Sands. An official blue and white street sign was affixed to the rear wall of the British embassy compound saying (in Persian) “Bobby Sands Street” with three words of explanation “militant Irish guerrilla”. The official Pars News Agency called Bobby Sands’s death “heroic”. There have been claims that the British pressured Iranian authorities to change the name of Bobby Sands Street but this was denied. A burger bar in Tehran is named in honour of Sands.
Palestinian prisoners incarcerated in the Israeli desert prison of Nafha sent a letter, which was smuggled out and reached Belfast in July 1981, which read: “To the families of Bobby Sands and his martyred comrades. We, revolutionaries of the Palestinian people…extend our salutes and solidarity with you in the confrontation against the oppressive terrorist rule enforced upon the Irish people by the British ruling elite. We salute the heroic struggle of Bobby Sands and his comrades, for they have sacrificed the most valuable possession of any human being. They gave their lives for freedom.”
The Hindustan Times said Margaret Thatcher had allowed a fellow Member of Parliament to die of starvation, an incident which had never before occurred “in a civilised country”.
In the Indian Parliament, opposition members in the upper house Rajya Sabha stood for a minute’s silence in tribute. The ruling Congress Party did not participate. Protest marches were organised against the British government and in tribute to Sands and his fellow hunger strikers.
The Hong Kong Standard said it was “sad that successive British governments have failed to end the last of Europe’s religious wars”.
Great stuff m8!
I hope you noted Bondibrians insult towards my five year old daughter last night, veiledy his ” it’s a joke ” shite.
I feel it’s only fair that if he comes crying to you over what i have posted, demanding action, it’s only right you maybe consider his attempts to rekindle ill feeling on here.
That’s two seperate posts he has made that are a direct attempt to start the shit.
You will also note that since i apologised to him, i haven’t uttered a thing in his direction.
Quite right M.
A sevconian asked me today what i really thought about ibrox, i told him it was like a disused warehouse back in the early 90s, he looked a bit confused and asked how come, to which i replied it’s some where to have a great party. Convo ends lol.
This site is nothing without Charlie Saiz or Mike.
Bobby Sands was fire-bombed out of his house, a very young victim of terrorism and that set him on his course. It was a horrible criminal act to allow his death. He was a young man full of promise. In Britain, state terrorism has always been masked as patriotism. Una, maybe Ibrox is crumbling because the bricks have absorbed the toxicity of their ‘song sheet’?
That sort of thing happened to so many young people here…the hunger strikers were among those that paid the ultimate price.
Every single one who paid that price was a hero…
I should of course have added that ” There but for the Grace of God go I” and innumerable others
