Celtic Diary Tuesday August 8: Where We Make Stuff Up

One of the things that I’m quite proud of, actually, pretty much the only thing, is that here at Etims we don’t ask for donations, we do not rely on adverts and frankly, if you offered to buy me a beer, I’d probably say no, thanks.

Well, okay, maybe the first two.

Its why if I , for example, take a couple of days off work, and pop over to another country to try to find out whats really happening regarding something I have made a tremendous emotional and financiall investment in, I do it off my own back, and then that way, whatever I think about afterwards  is entirely up to me,

The Diary has been away for a couple or three days.

Thats because I’ve had a few things to think about.

But you know, I’m not all that sure I’ve come to any real conclusions.

See that Neil Doncaster chap ?

Image result for neil doncaster

I couldn’t find a picture of him not grinning.

Know why ?

It’s because there isn’t one.

Oh wait. Here he is when he found out that all the clubs in Scotland will sack him the minute he stands up for what is right.

Image result for neil doncaster

Doncaster is their leader. He must follow them.

Before you vent your anger on him, consider another picture of him, taken recently at an SPFL meeting.

Image result for Captain Scarlet

Its his job to look after the interests of Scottish football clubs.

So when he says we should move on, you know, when he’s on the telly doing his interviews…consider this..

Image result for filmed in supermarionation

No wonder he wasn’t at Celtic Park for the flag unfurling.

These days, its the only place he feels comfortable, all these other chairmen telling him to move on, or they’ll say it was his idea to reintroduce sharing gate money.

It’s important to remember at this stage that this is Etims.

Where we make stuff up.

Ask anyone at Celtic Park. I’ve assured them of that, which is why we don’t need adverts, donations or anything else to improve our ratings.

Resolution 12 ?

I knew you’d ask that.

Contrary to what any other site might tell you, whatever they think even in private…

It isn’t dead in the water.

The smoking gun is the wee tax case.

If I held a position of power at any of the clubs affected by this, I’d be asking who at UEFA approved what someone at the SFA sent them without checking little pernickity little details.

Like the truth.

Who knows ?

Maybe someone is.

You see, Scottish football had the biggest attendance figures for nearly twenty years on an opening weekend there, and some club chairmen don’t want to rock the boat.

Here’s Jessica Ennis Hill, explaining why we should all move on…

tearful Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill declared there could have been no better place than a packed London Stadium to receive her re-allocated World Championships gold medal.

Ennis-Hill was finally presented with the 2011 heptathlon title robbed from her in Daegu by Russian drugs cheat Tatyana Chernova in the build-up to the scene of her fairytale triumph at London 2012.

This year’s worlds had already witnessed several such medal ceremonies for the likes of Jo Pavey and Christine Ohuruogu but the recently-retired queen of British athletics proved the most popular recipient of all.

Almost five years to the day since she stood atop the podium at the same venue after winning Olympic gold, a visibly moved Ennis-Hill admitted it was both “really special” and “very surreal” to do so once more.

Heavily pregnant with her second child and with her son, Reggie, looking on, the 31-year-old said of her second of three world golds: “It obviously feels amazing. I would loved to have had it at the time but there couldn’t have been a better place bar having it at that actual moment.

“I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve just come to a stadium, watched, and not actually physically exerted myself and stood on the podium and received a gold medal. So, very surreal.

“I’ve had so many memories, great memories, here, especially obviously in London at the Olympics.

“So, to actually come back here and really just say, ‘Hi’, one last time and stand on the podium and soak up the atmosphere of the crowd has been a great way to end my career.”

Chernova was originally disqualified from the 2011 worlds back in November but fought attempts to strip her of her gold medal, casting doubt on whether it would be returned in time for Ennis-Hill to be presented it in front of a home crowd.

Tatyana Chernova , who was less than honest about her athletic capabilities replied..

“Fuck off Timmy, We Are The People ! ”

I’m getting mixed up again, aren’t I ?

There is a battle underway to preserve the integrity of Scottish football. Its down to the supporters of all clubs to pick up the baton.

There is a reluctance among certain chairmen of certain clubs, that is, all bar ours, and believe me when I say this, if he was one of them, I’d tell you, to dig too deep. To find out the truth.

I’ve struggled with my conclusion, as i said at the top of the page.

Know what it is ?

Maybe it would be easier if I made that clear.

And trust me, I’d be right there on your shoulder, watching your back.

I do yoga. I can do that.

Image result for yoga poses

Thats not me, but you have to agree its a remarkable picture.

Speaking of pictures.

Lets look at the big picture

We know it isn’t about Rangers, or whatever they call themselves this week, this is about the SFA

Only the SFA.

The media will try to make it an Old Firm thing, encouraged by the other clubs, which means that those parasitic lily livered chairman dont have to get involved.

Because if their support knew what they were thinking, then the likes of Hearts needn’t bother with those seats. They won’t need them,

Hearts’ main stand delayed after club forgot to order seats

Aberdeen , Dundee United, ..how do you think their support  would feel if they felt they were being played by their chairmen?

Like I keep saying.

This is Etims.

We make stuff up.

But you knew that………

Meantime, we hear that there is a new sponsor lined up for next seasons Premier league

Image result for tatyana chernova

We might as well go with it, because by then, no one else will put their name to it.

Great to have the diary back Ralph don’t know if the yoga picture was remarkable in itself but it certainly is a remarkable likeness, a Wizard of Oz moment. It was only on looking at it for the 70 th time I realised it wasn’t you.
Tonight is important because another treble journey begins, in some ways I would like to see Griifiths rested maybe some others too but that isn’t Brendan’s way. Nir Bitton is doing well, almost Hansen like.

I really wish we, as a support, would boycott ALL away grounds. I know opinions are spit on this, and that’s fine, each to their own, but for me, it seems like the other clubs are scared of losing the ‘blue pound’ yet at the same time are taking the ‘green pound’ for granted.

Voodude,
Totally agree, put simply, hitting them in the pocket is the only thing clubs understand.

Reply to  Monti

The problem with that is Celtic then becomes the scape goat (the paranoid among ye can read into the goat reference if you like) and the big baddy as the other Clubs start feeling the pinch?
Only one Club was responsible for this let’s not let them off the hook here as l am fairly certain the SFA and MSM would just love to implicate us in this manky mess.

If Celtic don’t pursue this from a legal standpoint then the answer is simple.

£30 each and a will to see this through is all it will take.
Take control of Celtic (at no financial hit to us or anyone else) then we take control of this shambles until we see fit.
None of these cunts ever banked on that eventuality.

As Celtic are complicit in the “move on” campaign, surely ALL games should be boycotted?

CZ – if you’ve got £30 to invest buy shares and if enough fans do this then we’ll own the club.

TicToc

Reply to  The Cha

Cha, just for information, it’s not quite that simple.
Dealing costs are typically around £12 per trade. You then have a bid/offer spread which means shares are dearer to buy than what they can be sold for; in Celtic PLC shares they would cost around £1.06 per share but only worth about 98 pence to sell. Hence if you used the £30 figure you’d get around 17 shares worth £16.64 for your 30 quid.
Fuckin’ great value, eh?
A properly constituted fans co-operative is the answer and Celtic fans have all the knowledge needed. We just need the catalyst and leadership.

Cheers, Rob. You create a lot of good laughs on here, for me anyway, pal. Your family’s shares will be fine. A share issue to raise capital could dilute the shares (reduce their value) but I don’t see that happening. If enough of us unite, then at AGMs we’ll ensure we’re listened to; unification is the very necessary 1st step.
I hope you’re right about the GB 12. A decent lawyer should shoot any charges down in flames.
Any action, such as boycotting, will only be successful with a unified approach and advising Celtic PLC, the SPFL and SFA exactly what’s going on in advance.

I pray for this young woman today. Please Lord give her comfort and light through her darkness. Sinead O’Connor
Her own words today.
I am now living in a Travelodge motel in the arse end of New Jersey.

‘I’m all by myself. And there’s absolutely nobody in my life except my doctor, my psychiatrist – the sweetest man on earth, who says I’m his hero – and that’s about the only fucking thing keeping me alive at the moment, the fact that I’m his bloody hero… and that’s kind of pathetic.’

Sinead continued: ‘Mental illness, it’s a bit like drugs, it doesn’t give a shit who you are. And you know what’s worse? The stigma doesn’t give a shit who you are.’

Sinead O’Connor
The singer is living alone in New Jersey
The Nothing Compares 2U singer explained that she had three mental illnesses, and that she wanted her family to come help her and take her home.

She said: ‘Children of mine, why is it acceptable that your mother is living in a Travelodge? Am I not worth fighting for? I’m the mother of your children, John Reynolds, everything I gave you…

‘Yes I wrote some angry emails and some shit on Facebook… so what?’

And in a devastating statement, Sinead said that the last two years had revolved around her not dying.

Sinead O’Connor
Sinead was one of the most successful singers of the 80s and 90s
The star’s followers rushed to the comments to share their concern for her, and urged her to get further help.

Mum of four Sinead was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a decade ago, and discussed her progression on medication with Oprah Winfrey in 2007.

However, her mental health issues sparked a police search last year when she went missing in Chicago.

She was found later that day in a hotel after leaving a Facebook message which prompted fears she would take her own life.

Following this, Sinead took to Facebook to tell fans that she had taken an overdose in a hotel in Ireland. Thankfully, police found her safe.

Lets hope she gets all the love and care she needs at this time.

Oh Angel of god her guardian dear, to whoms gods love commits me here,
Ever this day be at her side, to light and guard
To rule and guide.Amen.

Sinead O’Conner requires being sectioned. She’s right mental illness like addiction doesn’t discriminate. Prayers wont help. Medical intervention will.

Saw her in a pub in Muswell Hill in the early 90’s. Stunning looking woman. I wish her all the best.

Bondi,
Prayers might not work for you but Billions of people around the planet DO believe in the power of prayer!

Remember no matter how much you decry God or his son Jesus Christ……Jesus loves you!

Sinead needs love & support, if she speaks with Jesus he will give her the strength to overcome her illness.
The thing about Jesus is that he is always there, all you have to do is speak to him, accept him into your heart!

Think this is very important to all football fans.
Please Give it all your support and share with all you can.
The Scottish Parliament’s Justice Committee is seeking views on the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Repeal) (Scotland) Bill.

The Bill was introduced in the Scottish Parliament on 21 June 2017. The Bill repeals the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012.
Read the Bill and the accompanying documents.
Key issues
The policy objective of the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Repeal) (Scotland) Bill is to repeal, in its entirety, the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012. The Member in charge of the Bill, James Kelly MSP, believes the legislation to be flawed on several levels, including its “illiberal” nature, its perceived failure to tackle sectarianism, and his view that other legislation and common law offences already exist, to address the issues which the Act was intended to cover.
The 2012 Act makes provision for two criminal offences, one involving “offensive behaviour at regulated football matches” (section 1), and one involving “threatening communications” (section 6).
Offensive behaviour at regulated football matches

The 2012 Act provides the police with powers to deal with offensive or threatening behaviour which is liable to incite public disorder at football matches. The criminal offence is intended to address the problem of offensive and threatening conduct, including singing and chanting and the display of offensive flags and banners (in particular, those deemed to be of a sectarian or racist nature) which are known to incite public disorder associated with football matches.

The Scottish Government believes that this criminal offence is necessary as a substantial proportion of offensive behaviour related to football which leads to public disorder is not explicitly caught by current law.

The Act provides that the offence can be committed at a regulated football match or while the person committing it is entering or leaving (or trying to enter or leave) the ground; on a journey to or from a regulated football match; or at any venue where a football match is being broadcast.

Threatening communications
The 2012 Act provides powers to tackle threatening communications. Although a number of offence provisions exist which may apply in respect of the making of threatening communications, the Scottish Government believes that they are not always easily applied to threats made with the intent of inciting religious hatred.

Unlike England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic, Scotland did not have a specific offence for inciting religious hatred without a racial element. The offence in the 2012 Act includes two classes of threat: threats of serious violence, and threats intended to stir up religious hatred, whether or not they involve threats of serious violence.

An offence has been committed if one of the following conditions is met:
Condition A – the material consists of, contains or implies a threat, or an incitement, to carry out a seriously violent act against a person or against persons of a particular description: the material or the communication of it would be likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm; and the person communicating the material (i) intends by doing so to cause fear or alarm, or (ii) is reckless as to whether the communication of the material would cause fear or alarm.
Condition B – the material is threatening, and the person communicating it intends by doing so to stir up religious hatred. (Further provision is made, in section 7 of the Act, to protect freedom of expression by clarifying that condition B does not include the expression of certain views, eg ridicule, in relation to religious belief.)
Issues for consideration
The Committee welcomes written evidence on any aspect of the Bill. It would be helpful if respondents could address any of the following questions in their submissions:
1. Do you agree with the proposal in the Bill to repeal the 2012 Act? What are your reasons for coming to this view?
2. Did you support the original legislation?
3. Do you consider that other existing provisions of criminal law are sufficient to prosecute offensive behaviour related to football which leads to public disorder? If so, could you specify the criminal law provisions? Or does repeal of section 1 risk creating a gap in the criminal law?
4. Do you have a view on the focus of section 1 of the 2012 Act, which criminalises behaviour surrounding watching, attending or travelling to or from football matches, which may not be criminalised in other settings?
5. Do you consider that other existing provisions of criminal law are sufficient to prosecute threats made with the intent of causing a person or persons fear or alarm or inciting religious hatred? If so, could you specify the criminal law provisions? Or does repeal of section 6 risk creating a gap in the criminal law?
6. Do you have a view on the proposed transitional arrangements in the Bill: that there should be no further convictions for section 1 and 6 offences from the date on which the repeal of those offences takes effect; and that the police will cease issuing fixed penalty notices at least from the point at which the Bill is passed?
7. To what extent do you consider that the 2012 Act has assisted in tackling sectarianism?
The Committee expects to begin taking evidence on the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Repeal) (Scotland) Bill later this year.
How to submit written evidence
Before making a submission, please read the Scottish Parliament’s policy on treatment of written evidence. In line with that policy, submissions will normally be published on our website. We recognise that in some circumstances people may have reasons for preferring their evidence to be published anonymously. If you wish to do this, please make this request clear when submitting your evidence, and explain why you are making this request.
Please use the template below to prepare your written submission. Written submissions should be brief and typewritten in Word format (preferably no more than 6 sides of A4 in total). Very long submissions may be refused.
Offensive_Behaviour_Repeal_Bill_-_proforma_for_written_evidence.docx
The deadline for receipt of written submissions is Friday 18 August 2017.
Owing to the timescales normally required for the processing and analysis of evidence, late submissions will only be accepted with the advance agreement of the clerk.
The Committee prefers to receive submissions electronically. These should be e-mailed to: justicecommittee@parliament.scot
You may also send a hard copy of written submissions to:
Justice Committee, Scottish Parliament, Holyrood, Edinburgh, EH99 1SP
We welcome written evidence in any language.

For further information about the Committee’s work on the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Repeal) (Scotland) Bill please contact the clerks by email at justicecommittee@parliament.scot or by phone on 0131 348 5220.

Superb Jimmybee, Rob to be fair to Johston I thought he was saying that the crowd had the chance to boo Gatling after his ban was up a couple of years ago and didn’t because he didn’t win. He upset the organizers script by winning there. Not sure he would have been boo’ed if he ‘d won Silver or Bronze. The right-wing English red tops who gave us Brexit, the wonderful Windsor family, Cameron and May already had a script written for Usain Bolt. However, the media forgot conveniently that non-drug cheat Coleman beat (fairly) the great man twice. Bolt got bronze, not silver. Gatlin has done his time and there is a strong argument that his first offence should never have stood. If the media want to question someone about drug cheating they might try the Tory Seb Coe, once also a media darling. The moral outrage was simply a reaction from the media puppets when even the right wing media can’t coerce people in what to believe or how to react.
There are many British drug cheats who so far have been protected by their own media. The cycling world may still be full of them.

3-0 vs Killie. Killie are a shadow of a team. Many changes to the team but nothing has changed. Celtic playing the same way, moving the ball quickly from side to side and hitting it out to both wings to stretch the opposition.
Benyu is tricky but very raw and inexperienced. He is the least successful of the incomers. Ralston has a goal plus is solid defensively. Ajer is imperial. Kouassi was dominant until his injury. Hopefully, it is not serious.

Could have been 5.

Off the field, the manager clearly has a plan on how Celtic will play. New players coming into the team know this and they slot in comfortably.

On the central defence, I’d have fully agreed with you just a couple of weeks ago but watching Nir Bitton and Kris Ajer recently I think we’ve got the answer already. Along with Simunovic it would give us 3 potentially great ball-playing CBs and I’d be happy to give them a go. Just think total quality football playing all over the park. It’s magical.

FT 5-0 and could have been more! I should have mentioned Miller’s performance earlier. Excellent attacking and crossing into the box. His defensive skills are also improving. I think we have our backup LB.
Killie pressed higher up the park in the second half but it made no difference…a poor manager and a poor team. They are candidates for the drop on this performance. Greer was their best player with Burke runner up.
Benyu ran out of steam in the second half and was substituted. He has something but needs to develop strength; the ability to track back, and to anticipate the ball.
Gordon no saves which says it all.
You look at Celtic and you see a bunch of players who are really enjoying their football…..great team spirit.

Hope the rumours on Roberts are true.

Terrific performance great to see so many young players play so well together bodes well for the rest of the Season.
Watching KIeran Tierney tonight took me back to a rainy Goodson Park 3 years ago when he came on in a Development game and stood out among much more fancied players how this bhoy has blossomed at Celtic.
I hope and pray we are looking at a career Celtic man much in the mould of Danny McGrain here?
I know big Clubs will come in and flash the cash but this kid has the tools to be a genuine Celtic legend if he keeps producing such mature performances at such a young age in his development.
God bless you Kieran.
l said it then and l will say it again keep working and it will come son.

KT Priceless

Perhaps he’s excited about the rumours of his mate coming home.

I think that’s what it is and nothing more concrete (certainly not the shit about he’s already signed as that will appear on official site first).

Other avenues seem to be closing for Paddy so hopefully it all works out, especially a permanent deal, although another loan better than nothing.

Fred,

Hayes is a trier who does not give up, but, you are right, he needs to up his game.
Is Benyu better than, say, Henderson? On the evidence of tonight, my answer would be “No.”

,I think wee Lennys hibs are going to be the nearest challengers this season, I think they can be second to be honest and maybe get to the cup final if they avoid us.
Let’s hope so,it’s time all Hampden was green white and gold again.
Though I have a feeling we might be getting them in the next round, at Easter road.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday as the Hibees result came in.

The game that changed the course of history at Celtic?
I think so…

Ive been very impressed with Ralston and Miller anytime ive seen them. The future of our defense is looking great 3 of our home grown players with hopefully a great future at the club.
Paddy Roberts will be the icing on the cake.

Wardrop is another with a bright future very much in the mould of Tierney but can also play right across the back 4.
Hoping he’s going to get his chance soon.

On loan at Dumbarton i think?

Yep played the full game in their opener v Morton (0-0)

Also … Jamie Lindsay scored for Ross County v Dundee he also played the full game.
Always hoped he would make it Jamie a very talented young MF l think with a bright future though yet another loan might suggest we are perhaps looking at selling him on?
