Celtic Diary Tuesday July 11: Don’t Worry About A Thing

‘ Cos every little things gonna be alright.

Do you want the good news first, or the bad news ?

Fair enough, we’ll start with the bad.

Someone appears to be using the media to get what they want.

The Sun claims that talks with Stuart Armstrong have stalled. The club, however, says they haven’t , and its all very “relaxed ”

So, who do you believe ?

And whats the bad news here ?

Er, none, But I thought I’d bring a little tension into your lives.

Good news ?

Where to start, where to start…..

Lets get all this nonsense out of the way about stripping titles, holding investigations and cleaning up the game out of the way first. Then we can concentrate on the game this Friday.

Just as what is in the papers can be taken with a pinch of salt, just because its not in the papers doesn’t mean its not happening…

After all, why would they report on how the rest of Scottish football is taking being taken for mugs ?

Especially as the media are among the chief offenders.

Before falling asleep , our regular drunk reassured us that we should sit back and enjoy the game, as there is nothing else to worry about.

He , however, was looking for his car keys..

Those in the front line are working on their next attack.

As I said, don’t worry…

In the meantime, lets offer all of those who had an EBT a chance to either hand back the medals or pay the tax owed.

That should be a laugh when the “true blues ” decide that they had no room on the mantelpiece for trinkets after all.

The season begins in earnest this week as the champions League qualifying rounds continue, and Celtic enter at this stage, against Linfield of Belfast.

As you are aware, the club have refused to take tickets despite a warm welcome waiting across the water..

Image result for eleventh night bonfires 2017

The locals have all got dressed up and are planning a series of parades to make Glasgows finest feel at home…

Image result for orange walk

That reminds me, the game is on Friday, and someone in marketing has missed a great opportunity for a tie in…

Image result for war for the planet of the apes poster

The welcome detailed above makes this story, in the Daily Record, seem a little mystifying, and one wonders if it’s just another attempt to drive a wedge between Celtic supporters and the club..

Linfield chief insists Celtic fans would have been welcomed as he predicts some will beat Euro clash ticket ban

Well  they will if he sells them tickets…

“I’d be amazed if there weren’t any Celtic fans inside the ground. The police will have intelligence about who is buying tickets and where they are sitting.

“The police will have time to have a robust plan in place for those Celtic fans who go against the wishes of their club and come to the game. They believe they can deal with any situation.

“I do feel sorry for genuine Celtic supporters. We believe we could have managed it, working with the relevant authorities and with the PSNI to bring a number of Celtic fans to the ground and have it well segregated. We were happy to do that.

The PSNI. Thats the old RUC, rebranded to make them seem a little more Dixon of Dock Green as opposed to Heinrich Himmler.

The PSNI , theres a clue in the word “Service ” in the title, are charged with the safety of the Northern Irish citizens, and one wonders if allowing someone to open a petrol station next to a bonfire is indicative of their capability of this task..

This is in Carrickfergus, about eleven miles north of Belfast on the shores of the Lough.

Throughout the course of The Troubles, there was a reasonably large paramilitary presence in the town, namely the Ulster Volunteer Force and Ulster Defence Association.[18]Census figures show that the Catholic population of Carrickfergus declined from 16.2% in 1971 to 9.56% in 2011.[19]

No doubt that trend has continued , and its not difficult to see why.

The town takes its name from Fergus The Great, with whom you are all familiar.

Looking at the bigger picture, its probably for the best that Celtic are not selling tickets to their own support.

Save your money for the bigger games, in more hospitable environments, like the moon or somewhere.

Ahead of the game, Celtic have been looking at bringing a couple of players in. Reports suggest that Olivier Ntcham has agreed personal terms with the club, a fee has been agreed with Celtic for his services, even if no one can actually agree what the agreed fee is-anything between four and seven million – yet he’s not been announced yet.

And there’s further gossip centering around Patrick Roberts, who appears to have told Manchester City he wants to go back to Celtic on loan.

Then theres this guy, Kyle Jameson..

Image result for kyle jameson chelsea

The Chelsea youngster, a centre half, is on trial at Celtic, the picture above was, it looks like, taken at the custody centre before he was driven to court.

Jameson posted this on his instagram…

The trial is expected to last two weeks, and of course, we can’t comment until its over.

On the way out is Gary Mackay Steven. Its a permanent deal, by the way. Our esteemed hacks may have led us to believe its a loan, but thats just the clubs taking the piss and waiting to see if any of them spot this bit in the rules..

then again…rules…Scottish football…they lead parallel lives..

We haven’t really paid much attention to the more, er, delightful uttering from the gullibillies for a while, so we should maybe dip back into the rich stream of comedy they can be relied on to produce..

I’m not sure if this was before or after the defeat to Progres Neidercorn, the side who finished fourth in Luxembourg, and who faced Shamrock Rovers almost exactly two years ago…

Perspective. All they lack is a little perspective.

They need to relax, and this guy, who makes our own Rumour Mill look like it was carved into stone and carried down a mountain by a man with a beard, has tried to give them a few chuckles…

Perhaps thise poor devils over the river have merely lost their sense of direction, due to a lack of strong and stable leadership at their club.

We’re always happy to help, and perhaps this may help them find their way around again, courtesy of 4togo on twitter..

After all, they do love a journey…

Yesterday we posted you a picture that dates back to the days of circus sideshows-see the neat link from the previous paragraph there ?- and you were dutifully respectful..

And what makes you think that I have a high level job at the SFA, barman?

Today, from the same collection…

Just a wee note on the photos.

They are from a collection of pictures that highlighted all kinds of physical differences from a time when public sympathy was non existent, instead people would pay money to look at them, regarding them as freaks and weirdos.

Usually, sadly, just to mock and jeer them.

Thankfully it couldn’t happen today.

They’re still in liquidation.

Continuity Myth Explained …

“The decision will be greeted with dismay by the ordinary creditors of the club, many of which are small businesses, who will now receive a much lower distribution in the liquidation of the club, which occurred during the ownership of Craig Whyte, than may otherwise have been the case.” Sir David Murray

There was no continuity.

From yesterday’s Diary:

“What I cannot figure out, however, and perhaps its just me, is that none of these EBT recipients have been banging on the doors of their accountants and asking them what they should do, instead of believing the experts in the media.”

How about some proper justice and subjecting one of the central scumbags to the spotlight: David Murray, paid himself £500,000 per annum for giving Rangers (IL) ‘advice’ on EBTs (on top of his own EBT).
The ex-players should be beating a path to his door for recompense. He can afford it. It reclaims some money from him, payable to HMRC which in turn goes into the National Purse towards financing all the usual things, e.g. the NHS.
It would be a start and a fair one too…….

Ralph, if this little backhanded compliment is aimed at me then ok. I apologise I don’t live in the coalface anymore and though im drunk at times and seldom sober I wish I was in carrickfergus yada Yada I hope I appear to talk a little sense at times. I’m all for justice, if nothing else as a person albeit fucked up at times. I personally would like ‘rangers ‘ to be held accountable and slaughtered to the degree they deserve to be call me a two bob watch if you like I’m only slightly bothered but hey it’s not about me or any individual on here or anywhere for that matter.

Until a direct demand for what the punishment should be, and a collective force assembled by every other club affected then I cannot as an individual be ensconced in a rabid pack beying for blood, however, as I said before I have the utmost respect for anyone who puts their time into getting a result and most importantly, as you have consistently implied, cleaning up the game in Scotland. If this means some sort of revolution then I would get behind it. But I’m not up for extremist directionless placard flaunting shite unless nothing was being done about it

So those of us who think that titles should be stripped are ” a rabid pack baying for blood.” On the contrary I can assure you that what I would like perfectly logically and without shrill slogan shouting is that one club namely Rangers Oldco who have illegally gained an advantage over other clubs are held to account in so far as the ill gotten gains they made are extinguished from the record books since they were won unfairly.I have written to UEFA, SFA and SFPL as well as to Celtic FC asking that this illegality be tackled and those responsible held to account. I’m happy to join petitions as well as they are circulated. I am unable to move on or walk away from this sham and unable to simply forgive and forget.

It would be nuts for any Celtic fans to even think about gatecrashing the sectarian shitehole known as windsor. I now work in London and have spoken to milwall hooligans who visit Linfield , lots of nf/edl scumbags will be in the north for the twelfth and will stay on for the game . First published 85 years ago today –
AN ADDRESS FROM THE ARMY COUNCIL OF THE IRISH REPUBLICAN ARMY TO THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE ORANGE ORDER (JULY 1932)
Fellow Countrymen and Women,
It is a long call from the ranks of the Irish Republican Army to the marching throngs that hold the 12th July Celebrations in North East Ulster. Across the space we have sometimes exchanged shots, or missiles or hard words, but never forgetting that on occasions our ancestors have stood shoulder to shoulder. Some day we will again exchange ideas and then the distance which now separates us will shorten. For we of the Irish Republican Army believe that inevitably the small farmers and wage-earners in the Six County area will make common cause with those of the rest of Ireland, for the common good of the mass of the people in a Free United Irish Republic. Such a conviction is forming itself in an ever increasing number of minds in North East Ulster.
The Irish Republican Army – within North East Ulster as well as in the rest of Ireland – believe that the mass of the Working-Farmers and Wage-earners must organise behind revolutionary leadership if they are to rescue themselves from a system within they the few prosper and the many are impoverished.
It is our opinion, a conviction driven in on our mind by the facts of life around us, that capitalism and imperialism constitute a system of exploitation and injustice within which the mass of the people can know no freedom.
The burdens of to-day’s bad times are falling with increasing weight on Working Farmers, who must surrender an increasing part of their produce to meet rents, taxes, bank interest, etc, while their incomes diminish The unemployed workers are being torn at with economies in social services – adding daily to the destitute. The wage earners are finding their conditions _s of employment and standard of living steadily worsening.
We can see no permanent solution of these evils except by the transfer of power over production, distribution and exchange to the mass of the people.
The power to produce what the many require exists; the Organisation and its distribution presents no insoluble difficulty. But the vested interests of a privileged minority are across the road and progress is impossible, unless we are prepared to clear away these obstacles.
These interests that deny their rights to the many are those on which the Empire rests. Touch or threaten these privileged interests and the whole force of the Empire is invoked for their protection. Thus it is that we see and say that the freedom of the mass – of the Irish People is impossible without breaking the connection with Imperial Britain and with all the Imperial system connotes.
Do you see any other road to freedom for yourselves and your families?
You must realise that the chief industries on which the former alleged prosperity of North East Ulster rested are gone beyond hope of being revived; that the same thing has occurred in Great Britain; that everywhere the pinch grows tighter on those who are unemployed as a result of this breakdown in the whole structure of capitalism. Can the British people help you while their own workers and industries are struggling desperately to exist and are not succeeding in these days? Where do you see any hope?
Working-farmers and Wage-earners of North East Ulster. You surely must see that your future is bound up with the mass of the people in the remainder of Ireland. To preserve yourselves from extinction, you and they must combine and go forward to the attainment of A Free Irish Nation within which life and living will be organised and controlled by you to serve your needs and thus end the present economic and social injustices for ever.
The industrial capacity, and training of you industrial workers, of North East Ulster ensure you a leading influence and place in the economy and life of a Free Irish Nation.
EXPLOITATION OF RELIGIOUS PREJUDICES
To prejudice you it is emphasized that we of the Irish republican Army and the mass of Republicans are mainly Catholic, and that your religious beliefs would not be respected in a free Ireland! It is quite true we are mianly Catholics, but in Southern Ireland the same political and economical interests and voices that tell you we are Catholics, tell the Catholic population of the South that we are Anti-God fanatics, and yearning for an opportunity to make war on the religion to which the majority of us belong!
The fact is we are quite unaware of religious distinctions within our Movement.
We guarantee you, you will guarantee us, and we will both guarantee all full freedom of conscience and religious worship in the Ireland we are to set free.
This is the simple truth, and just now when Imperial interests are attempting to conceal themselves behind the mad fury of religious strife you and we should combine to make certain that no such escape should be provided them.
In the process of exploitation of the wage-earners and small producers, do you not realise how little religion matters to the exploiters? Orangemen and Catholic, Catholic women and yours toil side by side in the factory and mill, all equally victims Those who thus exploit mercilessly your labour and energies, would outside set you at one anothers throats, because it is to their advantage to divide you and lead you into conflict by arousing religious issues and inflaming passions.
Do yon not find yourselves queued shoulder to shoulder outside the Unemployed Exchanges waiting for the ‘Dole’, that crumb which the exploiters throw to the exploited of different religions? In these vital matters jour religion or your membership of the Orange Older counts for little, nor does Catholicism to the unemployed and starving Catholics in Southern Ireland.
The fact is that the religious feelings of the masses of both Orangemen and Catholics are played on and exploited by the Imperialists and Capitalists the more surely to enslave them.
THE VICTORY OF THE BOYNE!
You celebrate the victory of the Boyne. This battle was a victory for the alliance of the then Pope; and William of Orange; strange alliance for you to celebrate; strange victory for Catholics to resist! History has been muddled to hide the occasions when your forefathers and ours made common cause, and passions are stirred to manufacture antagonisms. If William of Orange and His Holiness could achieve an alliance, there is hope that “NO SURRENDER” may come up from a throng which also roars “UP THE REPUBLIC”.
Your stock were the founders and inspiration, the North East Ulster the cradle, of the modern Revolutionary Movement for National Independence and Economic Freedom. Your illustrious ancestors and co-religionists, the United Irishmen, by their gallant struggle in 1798 set aflame the ideals of Republicanism which never since have been extinguished. We ask that you should join us to achieve their ideals — National Freedom and religious toleration.
It was John Mitchel, a Newry man of your stock, who addressed these words to your forefathers: “In fact religious hatred has been kept alive in Ireland longer than anywhere else in Christendom. Just for the simple reason that Irish landlords and British statesmen found their own account in it, and so soon as Irish landlordism and British domination are finally rooted out of the country it will be heard of no longer in Ireland any more than it is in France or Belgium, now.”
Fraternally, Your Fellowcountrymen,
The Army Council,
On Behalf of the Irish Republican Army

What a dreadful shame that the olive branch was not grasped and that elitism and supremacism appear to have carried that day as they do to this day.
I would STILL sooner make peace than war with anyone but the lowest form of orangeism probably still terrorises its own into carrying their’flegs’ and their prejudices.
My difficulty, or at least one of them is this; they have no shame, no regret, no contrition. Just a load of old pish about WATP etc. I’d happily donate an educational book, like The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, to the orange hordes but it would just end up on a bonfire.
It’s really a great pity, but you can only take a horse to water……..
I’d like to emphasise I have no argument with Protestants and much respect their contribution to our proud History, but orangeism is a very different matter.

We have all had a chance to express our outrage about the use of EBTs to gain competitive advantage. To continue in this vein may make individuals feel better but it is not productive. We need to move on to channelling a concerted effort to get an independent review of the EBT years. How we do this, I do not know but getting other supporter bodies to issue public statements and to contact the SFA/SPFL is a step in the correct direction.

We can learn from both the model used by the Res12 guys and from their experiences.

Firstly, we need to identify contacts in supporter groups and how to reach them. Secondly, we need to compose something that provides unbiased information on the practices used by Rangers during these years. Thirdly, we need to show that clubs other Celtic were affected by what went on during this era. Finally, we need to indicate what options are available to fans to respond.
We probably need to form a small group of people who are prepared to put in both effort and perhaps some cash to cover costs.
I am prepared to be involved in this but I face restrictions since I live outside Scotland. What do you think about this?

Weered, please get the name right.I was being genuine.I think he is struggling and hope he can be allowed to air his views.I notice that someone has taken 7 hours to pick out his post and try to rubbish his views. This is happening too much.Perhaps we are all at fault at times.
My point about the e-mails was maybe misconstrued. My point is that any action is better than no action, however, some people have stated they have sent e-mails to certain parties and others have tried to shoot them down by asking questions like ‘Did you get any replies?’etc as if it’s a waste of time.Whatever his views on this matter,at this stage there is no correct solution so all views should be allowed not jumped on straight away by people that don’t have the power to solve this massive corruption.
