Celtic Diary Thursday November 17: An Olive Branch For Regan

So.

The Resolution 12 guys will continue to work with the club, or the club will continue to work with the lads or whatever was meant by the few words given to the issue at the annual general moan yesterday.

We had the “you guys are great ” line from the board, as expected, and we had a whole lot of other good news, we had hilarious and scripted one liners that “brought the house down ” and we had the board looking down like they have achieved something.

Yeah, this time we got to know how thrilled they were at giving us a  decent manager, and a couple of good players, but there really was an elephant in the room, and when it came to be addressed, with the  statement we had expected over the issue of misgovernance at the SFA, all we got was;

“We continue to meet with shareholders representatives on resolution 12. We understand they have received communication from Uefa on the issue and we will meet with the shareholders next week to understand that communication and how they are moving forward.”

That could be taken as we’re being paid mere lip service again, and some of us will certainly feel that let down.

I’ll reserve judgment until after that meeting, and try to remain positive. Perhaps the club felt it was too important to deal with at the AGM, and that it requires a lot more time than it would have been allowed at a public meeting.

I can accept that, and I can also accept that whatever the club does next is crucial. One wrong word and years of hard work is wasted.

I’ll also accept that the club has realised that it isn’t going to go away, and that the evidence the guys have gathered at the very least puts a massive question mark over the people who run the SFA.

When you deal with a massive issue like this, every single base has to be covered. Every response has to be predicted and dealt with. There can be no room for manoeuvre  when the time comes to make a stand.

So, as much as my plan would be to storm the palaces of the SFA and drag them all out before putting their heads on a pole on the Kingston Bridge, perhaps there is a better way.

What it also means is that with the media now having taken note of the petition started on this site, then we need to crank it up a notch. Its been hijacked by a few from the darkside who have left their hoofprints on it, but thats to be expected. Its their sort of default defence mode.

You see, the support over there don’t understand it, and naturally, they are frightened of something they don’t understand, so they lash out with a nervous attack, kind of hoping it will all go away.

Or they put you on one of their own websites, in an attempt to discredit you. Yet not one of them has come up with a reasoned and sound argument to carry the debate forward.

Nowhere in the media is there anyone prepared to stand up for the SFA, to point to what they have done for the good of the game. Regan is now isolated, a dead man walking, and the only reason he hasn’t been finished off yet is that he will have a story to tell, yet deep down he knows the press will distort it, he knows that no matter what he says, or where he leads them to find a couple of bodies buried a while back, the press will not give him the slightest credibility.

So, in a remarkable twist , in our campaign against the SFA, I’d like to call the first witness.

Image result for stewart regan scottish fa

We understand that he has been misled.

We understand that he thought he was doing the right thing.

We understand that he has been influenced by the kind of people his mother warned him not to play with.

We understand that he needs a way out. A way out where he can tell his side of the story.

He can do that here. all he has to do is get in touch.

I can;t believe that he wants to stay in the job any longer than he needs to. He’s done with it, and all he wants to do is leave with at least some of his reputation intact.

No news outlet in Scotland will print his story. He knows that.

He is alleged to have given the wrong information to Peter Lawwell. I’d like to know who suggested to him , if that is the case, that this was a good idea.

Regan isn’t going to last long. What is crucial is that the events during his reign are not swept under the carpet after a new man is appointed to take his place.

You can rest assured the old boys network already has his replacement ready to step in.

Regan is going to be blamed for everything for everything that has been underhand at the SFA since David Murray decided to saddle up and ride out of town to lay low for a while.

A bit like what they did to Craig Whyte.

For his own sake, its vital that Regan gets his side of the story in first.

Get in touch.

The petition, as advertised in the Evening Times and the Herald…

The SFA Has To Respond To Allegations Of Impropriety

Concerning The Issue Of UEFA Licences

petition-link

Spread it as far and as wide as you can. Put it on every forum and social media site you can think of. Its more important now the eyes of the nation are on it.

We need to get more and more signatures, we need to make the pressure unbearable.

We need to do it together.

There is definitely the full force of a level 5 tornado surrounding Regan at this time.it is my opinion that he took the job with good intentions and possibly an ambition to do it well, somewhere along the way he has been dragged down the wrong path and has no way back, similar can be seen in Mark Warburton as to how he has been a changed man since joining the blue ranks. There is something toxic down Ibrox way that seems to bring out the worst in anyone connected to them.

Regans only way out is to come clean before he becomes a scapegoat of a vindictive mindset of people who will hang him out to dry

Take the Offer Mr Regan, get in the first blow.

Great Diary Ralphy, I completely agree with you regarding the ongoing Res.12 scenario, those brilliant requisitioners have persisted with this for the past three years,it is not going to go away, another week,(which they are satisfied with)will not make a huge difference in the scheme of things, interestingly it got a mention i am told in 2/3 of the Scottish papers, the dam is breaking,so keep up your good works, keep on highlighting the malfeasance and mis government.
Sometimes it is better to conduct business away from prying eyes, giving them all time to proceed in an orderly and organised fashion.

I am not a Board apologist, but, but, but, the Res 12 issue aside, there is much to be happy about.
A great much luved new Manager, who gets us and who has complete governance over new players in and out.Who stated that he is in January going to pursue, new LONG term players, players who will bed in for next years C.L. campaign.
Who!s recognition and ambition match our own, giving our financial situation. What is not to like about THAT,we have our much critisised Board to thank for that, along with the very healthy state of our club,it is improving year on year,so things are good and getting better,we shall overcome,we have overcome.H.H.

Each member of the Board outside its operating officers gets £25,000.hardly a huge amount.
The new living wage is being paid,
The new Supporters forum is being instigated,
The club is in a healthy position, all thanks to them,so they deserve some credit for that.

Must say Monti, your two comments (above) are spot on. The ‘board’ have nothing in common with our fans. I received an email today from someone I love and respect with interviews prior to the AGM. It was that silly cow from Celtic TV asking pre-arranged questions of our board and perhaps more. I quit part way through Lawwell’s answers to (most definitely) his own questions but posed by the reasonably attractive Celtic TV anchor. I responded to the email by saying he (Lawwell) was 1st class in spin and bullshit and I’d welcome his appointment as Prime Minister. Aye, any fucking thing to get him out of Paradise. Ditto the rest of the board. We need FANS to run our club, not fannies

Ah here yi monti, but IMO the board could probably earn 10 times the amount elsewhere than they get for bein on the Celtic board, unless its a vanity project for them then am sure their business acumen is required, we just need to look at sevco ti see how no ti run a club. Sometimes we need their business-brain rather than ‘wee Tam the Celtic bus conveners’ passion in the board room. Re their resonse ( or lack of ) ti Res 12 ah rekon we actually wait & see how they respond. Am sure the Res 12 guys knew this may be the boards tact.

Do you agree that the actual Governance of the club is good, that the club is in a healthy state,i certainly do,they are not criminals, overall they do a good job, look at the stadium, look at the team,we are moving forward,if some cannot see that then they are blind.
I am as disappointed about the Res.12 issue, same as everyone else but that issue is not finished yet,we have waited for 3 years another week will not make any difference.

Some interesting thoughts on the Boards reaction to Res12 etc

Echoes much of my thoughts/worries…

One part of me thinks “Perhaps the board just wanted to ensure the AGM was all about the positive message and state of play within our Club at present and will then deal with REs 12 next week accordingly away from AGM glare”

or

“Theyre at it…theyve had all the information they have needed, theyve had representation on SFA/SPFL Boards for years now and still feck all..talk is so very cheap….next week will be calls for “further review on ‘new’ evidence which will be another year of no action”

If its the latter then they should remember that we shall not forget about this, even if Regan gets pushed out the door, this isnt about 1 man, this is about bringing down a house of corruption and starting afresh.

Interesting Times indeed

I think we all know that the Celtic Board are ‘still’ going to try to bury Res 12. What do they mean it’s ‘just’ came to their attention that the shareholder have received correspondence from UEFA. This happened months ago, was the company secretary or whoever the resolutioners were dealing with ‘withholding’ information from the Board. Why was it the they were out the ‘loop’. I also found it ‘galling’ with Peter’s assertion that it was thanks to the good work of ‘THE BOARD’ over the last few years that they were able to bring someone of the calibre of Brendan on board. Aye whatever you say Peter, you cant be wrong when you live in ‘cloud cuckoo land’. I hope the resolutioners are prepared to draw a line in the sand and give the Board the option of taking it to The Court of Arbitration for Sport, or they will front a crowdfunding exercise with the aim of launching a Judicial Review. Cartvale ” we are in a good place “?
Really?

1) we have a board who did NOT want to pay the living wage and only relented under fan pressure.
2) We have a member of our board who voted for the poorest in our society to suffer MORE hardship and poverty.
3)We have a board who has provided Police Scotland with details of Celtic supporters.
4) Peter Lawwell get’s a £500,000 bonus whether the club reaches the CL or not, i find that disgraceful, especially in seasons we fail to qualify.
5) We have a board who are not acting in the fans best interests when it comes to the SFA and cheating.
6) Celtic supporters deserve better!

Some might be happy as they eat their prawn sandwich in their heated seats………i see a board who are not doing their fucking job!

Reply to  Monti

Monti,
I generally agree with most you say, albeit a bit more blunt that I would put it myself.
However, regards your points above;
1. Yes, agree wholeheartedly, Celtic should have been at the forefront of paying the living wage.
2. Whilst I disagree with the Board member in question I respect his right to vote how he wants. He was doing so in a position unrelated to his position on the Board and not representing Celtic. It’s not particularly palatable but it’s his choice.
3. As I understand it there is a legal requirement for the details to be provided whether the Board wanted to or not. My issue would be with Police Scotland and why they haven’t used the same powers to track down the large numbers involved in unlawful singing at Castle Greyskull.
4. Peter Lawwell has a contract and is paid accordingly. If you feel that’s unfair the gripe is with the person or persons who agreed that contract not PL himself. Like all of us we expect to be paid what is in our contract. Incidentally, what do you think the average CEO of a company the size of Celtic pulls in?
5. I’m willing to wait and see on that one although I am in agreement that the whole Res12 should have been taken forward at Board level and not by the fans. My biggest fear is we find out our club were involved in all of this from the beginning.
6. Maybe we do deserve better but who would we get and how much would it cost. Sure there are any number of fans who would do the job for a pittance but they don’t have the required skills to carry it out. We’d all pull on the hoops given the chance but in our hearts we know we’re not going to do them justice if we did.

Feel free to disagree but try to make your response more than four letters long! 😉

Most CEO’s of a company that is similar to the size and turnover of Celtic, will be receiving considerably less than Mr Lawwell.

The CEO of the following clubs receive over £2 million pounds.
Arsenal,Chelsea, Man.Utd.(despite debts of £337 million)Man.City,Liverpool, Tottenham.
This despite being in a less challenging League.
Sunderlands ex CEO received a basic salary of £663,195 plus bonus.Again in a hugely more wealthy League.
Their are big changes coming to European competitions, nothing fixed at present but Celtic are represented at the European Club Association by Lawwell,so whatever changes come,we are in a good position to influence that change.
He is also as you ken the most influential figure in Scottish fitba.

mike

Arsenal,Chelsea, both Manchester clubs,Spurs, all pay their CEO over £2 million pounds salary, even Sunderland pay a basic salary of over £650,000.
They are in a much less demanding League than Celtic.

We,had we born across the divide, been attached to the dark side, with shite players a daftie for a Manager with a Board Chaired by a crook.
But apparently we are going backwards, with a CEO who gets paid a £500,000 mill. bonus,so fucking what, check out other CEO see what they get paid.
Do they pay the living wage? no they fucking do not, despite massive income.
Have they invited their support to form an advisory forum,no they have not.
Do they run there club in a League with hardly any income,no they do not.
We have no way of knowing what our Board members contribute to the club, other than there business experience.
Only the likes of Man. City,Man.Utd. Chelsea with massively wealthy individuals at there helm who participate in a wealthy environment can achieve better than Celtic.
Its extremely easy to critique the Board, but tell you what,i still luv being a Celtic Supporter and proud of it,very proud.

on football matters it great to see us in such good shape with a top manager and a team that is getting better and better and long may that continue.
as for the board ? well the jury is still out. yes the club is financially sound and on a business sense very well run but Celtic is more than a club, more than a business and so far our board dont connect with us the fans but res 12 is where all that can and hopefully will change, make the statement, demand an independent investigation, get uefa to clarify that sevco are a new club and after the high court deems that ebts were illegal then make sure old rangers are stripped of every honour they cheated to win, if our board do this then we will have a board we can trust and be proud of but if they do nothing then they wont be in power for much longer but im optimistic and think all of the above will happen in time…..

Jimmy,

Is that the Prodan who signed for Rangers for about 2 million and never kicked a ball for them? If so, he was a symbol of the destructive glutony that was rife in Ibrox at the time.

RIP Daniel. May his family have good memories of him.

Note your pioints Monti, do not disagree, but would state, look where we are now.
The great thing about our club is the support throughout the world that improves our clubs image, whether it be food banks, donating to charities here and ion Europeam travels.
The support makes the board bring in changes, like the living wage. You do not get it the ‘ great and the good’ have to be driven to change.
The good thing is that our Board, Driven by the support will change through time, Utopia it ain’t
You only have to look at the block mentality on the sooth side to see where our club is.
You can greet about Lawell, and his personal projects, but he has added to Celtic
Yes we are n a god place, but we must keep noisiing them up, not ranting!
Our club has had a. Great pas and an even better future.
