Celtic Diary Saturday October 15: Rumours and Other Made Up Stuff

Apologies again for the diary not appearing yesterday, and again its the same reason, this time i didn’t get up until a quarter to twelve, a sure sign that I should take up drinking again.

Did I miss anything ?

Well, probably the most significant development of Brendan Rodgers’s reign…

CELTIC Football Club today announced that John Park has decided to leave the Club. John joined the Club in January 2007 and is leaving his position of Head of Football Development to move on to new challenges.

Celtic Chairman, Ian Bankier, commented: “I thank John for his important contribution to the Club and, on behalf of the Board, give him our best wishes for the future.

“The identification and development of players is a fundamental part of the Club’s strategy and John has served the Club with distinction. The Club has commenced its search to appoint a successor to build on John’s work here.”

Celtic Chief Executive, Peter Lawwell, said: “John has played a key role in the identification of some fantastic Celtic players over the years, players who have entertained the Celtic support and have gone on to have great careers with Celtic and beyond.

“I would like to thank John for the excellent job he has done for the Club over the past nine years. I have enjoyed working with John and I am sorry that he has decided to move on. I wish John every success for the future.”

Park was responsible for finding players who could do a job for Celtic with the minimum of outlay that had the ptoebntial to make the club millions. There’s no doubt it worked sometimes but when the priority is to make money, and not improve the team, then it will always mean that the system is more miss than hit, although when it did score a hit, the revenue received was fantastic. Often, though, those who missed, when added togehter, took a big chunk out of the profits, and its probably for the best that he moves on.

Especially as the manager seems to have his own ideas who to recruit, and doesn’t appear to be working under the same financial constraints as his predecessors. Its amazing how much influence you can gain by setting out your demands in the first few months of management, something Ronny Deila failed to do, and thats why he’s where he is now.

Anyway, we wish him all the best, and good luck in whatever he decides to do next.

As you are probably aware, there are some fairly incredible stories doing the rounds, ranging from a bit of bad news for Celtic to be revealed next wee-of which we are fairly certain, but have no idea what it might be-to the more fanciful claims from the more imaginative non-Celts on social media.

Park leaving, for instance, is down to Celtic cutting costs ahead of a massive tax bill that may drive Celtic into administration, a theory , of course , which is encouraged by those who have already seen their club pass into administration and beyond.

RangersQuickNews Retweeted Daily Record Sport

The first of many in the upcoming cost reductions. Admin a certainty. Donate to allow us to continue coverage of this developing story.

RangersQuickNews added,

We have found the location of these stories, all of which come from the same building..

For some reason. the number 47 looms large in the future, and we may well come to love that number. so we hear, anyway…

Then there’s this wonderful construction, designed to put the display around Celtic Park into the shade..

Not quite of a standard to compare with the display at Celtic Park, but still possibly £80.000 worth. could it be about to be repossessed due to non-payment ?

The same as this guy, who didn’t make their bench last night in Inverness ?

Image result for michael o'halloran rangers

Then there’s the perennial absentee Joey “Special Agent but not Dick anymore ” Barton, who has seen his suspension extended from a further week to “until further notice”, which means either they haven’t got a clue how to resolve the issue, or he doesn;t want it to be resolved, and just wants out of there with as big a pay off as he can get.

An interesting tale merged on E-Tims offshoot website Kerrydale Street, formed just over ten years ago when the old Etims forum laid itself to rest;

sevilliano
Retired and now a BT Sports pundit
heard some background on the barton halliday tiff

seems that the flute band barton had his photo taken with were also invited into the dressing room later for more cultural exchanges and barton supposedly having managed to get himself clued up on their provenance in interim was not up for this

since then there’s was more than a few exchanges between himself and halliday on what halliday saw as joey’s lack of appreciation for the culture of the club – to the extent that barton went to the loaf about wtf was all this about and why the eff they were both there

sounds too good to be true and a bit late in the day for joey f but havoc has ensued which is always good

Then there’s this, and you feel they only have themselves to blame, making it hard to sympathise with them…

Trinity Mirror’s decision to merge the Sunday Mail, Scotland’s best-selling Sunday title, with the Daily Record will put 22 jobs at risk of redundancy.

The Glasgow papers will have their news and features departments merged into one as Trinity Mirror looks to establish a seven-day news operation covering print and digital.

Jobs will also be lost at Trinity Mirror’s Glasgow based local newspaper titles.

Editor Jim Wilson, who left the Mail in August after seven years, is replaced by Brendan McGinty who will also serve as deputy to Record editor Murray Foote under the restructure.

Daily Record

A Trinity Mirror spokesperson said: “We are seeing growth in digital and in our events and business division but like all publishers we are having to carefully manage costs.

“We are therefore merging the Daily Record and Sunday Mail into an integrated seven-day operation covering print and digital.

“This means the merger of the two separate news and features departments into one, along with the back bench news and sports.

“As a result up to 15 jobs could be at risk at the Record and Mail, with a further seven in our Scottish regional titles.

“Daily Record editor Murray Foote will also be editor-in-chief of Scottish nationals with Brendan McGinty his deputy. Brendan will have the title of Sunday Mail editor.”

NUJ Scotland is understood to be in talks with Trinity Mirror about the restructure.

The Sunday Mail sells an average of 183,532 copies a week while the Record sells 168,999 daily copies, the latest ABC figures show.

Earlier this week, Press Gazette reported that seven jobs were at risk of redundancy at Trinity Mirror’s London-based national titles.

Banning the Daily Rangord would only intensify the shite they write about the Club.
Taking them to task on what they write and forcing them to rescind ,retract or apologise in a public manner will be far more effective in the long run.
The more it happens the less likely they are to do it.
Celtic need to employ another Paul McBride and get tore right into these chunts legally.
Siad it previously and I will say it again doing nothing is no longer an option unless they are prepared to see the name of the Club tarnished by these accusations.

I would definitely ban the cunts without blinking, it’s the least they deserve m8.
They are fucking sewer rats !
Alternatively, allow them to remain and every time one of them ask something fucking stupid, ask them if they reside at ( read their address out ) and ask them if ” Rangers ” ” Have paid the creditors yet”?
Or if it’s an EBT recipient that is asking a question, answer with ” have you paid your ‘ loan ‘ back yet”?

I would give anything to hear Brendan ask Neil McCann…” What was your repayment plan with your EBT “?

Quite excited by the mutual agreement (removal) of John Park. Seems like Brendan is establishing his own at Celtic which could mean he’s here for a while to come.

Tit bits about our club is fine, noting new, but when you start posting/print shit like people’s addresses then we have a problem, as seen with the recent Scotzine issue. No one is allowed to call these C**TS over their actions and we have to sit back and take the monkey shit they throw?? Naw.

Hurry up and disintegrate for a second time HUNS.

Working night shift so defo missing the game but got Celtic TV (for what that’s worth) to view after midnight.

Bobby Murdoch a gentleman when he played, a gentleman when he retired, always happy to chat. Taken too young.
If the wee man was still in charge he would be sticking it to the media, but the current board have no cohones, far happier criticising Celtic fans.
Their attitude towards area 12, nonexistent, their attitude towards the crap meted out in the media and the Billy Boys Club shocking.
Their continual placing of adverts in the rag papers shocking, pull the plug on that as the majority of fans are not buying the crud.
If you look at all the media outlets in Scotland the bias towards ex Sevco players rather than ex Celt is embarrassing, the odd token one is the norm, Murdo?
Hope u are well Ralph keep spreading the word

Reflections on the Season so far:

It cannot be just coincidence that Scott Brown, James Forrest and Sinclair are playing so well….greatly improved from last season. The influence of the manager is clear to see. Apart from their contribution to the team, both Sinclair and Forrest have enhanced their market value this season. Is it not just commonsense to hire a good manger?

What a joy it is to see a young player like Dembele, who looked promising at the start of his Celtic career, improve in a mere three months into an international class leader of the line. What a player he is going to be ultimately! Speed, strength, finishing with either foot and head….impressive!

A great, controlled display today with Wednesday in mind. Even Gamboa looked good.

Henderson, while not letting himself down, seemed unsure of his position and faded in and out of the game. However, in fairness, he had the unglamourous role of tidying up and short passing to start attacks. He did that well in the face of heavy punishment. I believe that Ajer and Armstrong are studying to be a doctor and lawyer, respectively. Anyone know what Lasley is studying for? He is certainly not a footballer.

We are in a good place at the moment.

Gamboa played well today and showed a good understanding with Forrest…neat one-twos in and around the box. Not so good defensively, tho, but not really challenged today.

Paterson is the same, I think, good going forward, not so strong at the back. However, he is tall.

In your vein…..

Ev’ry mornin’ at the mine you could see him arrive / He stood six foot six and weighed two forty five / Kinda broad at the shoulder and narrow at the hip / And everybody knew ya didn’t give no lip to Big Callum.…

Celtic were in total control today and but for the Motherwell goalie and (the crossbar twice) it would have finished 7-0. Tierney and Forrest were great and everybody put in a full shift…as it should be. If they had the Borussia Munching blackbats game in their minds it was only to say “pick me, pick me boss!!”. It does not take to much experience of fitba. matters to see the difference a good Management team makes.
Most Tic. players have shown obvious improvements,as Vinnie said Brown,Forrest,Biton,et al have made big improvements.
At yesterdays game Rodgers took of Gamboa at around the 70 min.mark.He has not played very often after signing on,it was clear that he was played to soon against Barca.Brendan clearly thought that it was a gamble, some players need time to settle in,ala Devriess. Some cannot play in a big stadium,so it takes them more time to bed in.
When he took of Gamboa he left that R.B. position vacant bringing on the Griff.only after about 15 min.after Murderwell started to threaten more did he bring on Toure to settle the back four.
The point is he changes formations many times during game time, the mark of a highly skilled Manager,we are blessed to have him and the players are responding.

Yesterday left me in no doubt that KT is developing into a world class footballer. His confidence attacking the Motherwell back four, beating all comers and his final shot was deserving of a goal. Totally sublime and a future captain if he keeps this form up. Ain’t we lucky?

well I think we can all agree on the status of the battle Barton described before he came to scotland.

Barton was 100% correct, by the end of the season he will have easily be worthy of “best clown in scotland” title.

Only Homer simpson would have a chance against him now and the chances of Homer moving to scotland before the end of the season are zero.
